Chapter 12 - The fetus killed for the ritual #1

Laras Gautama is the daughter of Lady Rachel's younger brother. Among those with indigo abilities, Laras possesses a gift that is truly unique.

Unfortunately, she has been blind since birth. She is a girl with straight, shoulder-length black hair and captivating eyes.

With her thin lips and graceful demeanor, she is truly elegant, despite her disability.

Fortunately, her condition is balanced by a power inherited from the Gautama ancestors. Laras has the ability to see the past—the hidden history of a place. She can also hear the voices of those long gone.

Laras is accompanied by a supernatural follower: a terrifying figure with long claws and blood-red eyes.

Though its appearance is gruesome, it never leaves her side, acting as her constant protector.

Now twenty-one years old, Laras works as a radio announcer. At this very moment, she is busy broadcasting at her workplace.

In front of the microphone, she speaks with incredible ease. Her eyes may be blind, but her talent is undeniable.

From another room, a pair of eyes watches her intently. It is Aldo, Laras's colleague. Aldo deeply admires her, not just for her beauty, but for her immense kindness.

"See you again tomorrow!" Laras said with a smile, ending her broadcast.

"Whoa... is it over already?" asked Aldo, whose broadcasting booth was right next to hers.

"Yes, it's finished, thank God! It's time to go home!" Laras told him.

Aldo nodded. He and Laras often commuted together. Aldo harbored deep feelings for her, but their relationship was not as smooth as they had hoped.

Aldo's family adamantly opposed his choice because Laras was a blind girl. They had even frequently used dark spells to try and separate Laras from him.

Laras could sense those spells. Out of concern for him, she ordered one of her supernatural followers to guard Aldo as well.

This follower possessed a powerful aura, feared by lower-level djinns and spirits—only one rank below the Queen spirit belonging to Rachel.

Laras had already discussed this with Aldo, and he had agreed to it.

"How about we grab something to eat first? Do you want to?" Aldo offered.

Laras nodded and smiled. Her right hand began to feel around the desk, searching for her cane.

Seeing this, Aldo acted quickly. He entered Laras's booth, picked up the cane, and handed it to her.

"Here it is!" Aldo said. Laras took it and stood up.

"What do you want to eat?" Aldo asked.

"It's up to you! You're paying, right?" Laras asked with a chuckle.

Hearing that, Aldo laughed too. What Laras said was true; he was indeed the one paying for the meal.

"Well, I'm a good guy, aren't I? So, if my girl asks, it's my duty to pay for her!" Aldo replied, teasing her slightly.

"Well, yes, I am indeed a girl. But I'm not your girl, hahaha!" Laras quipped.

Aldo brushed off the remark. Even though Laras wasn't ready to accept him yet, he would wait for her forever. He was head over heels in love with her.

Aldo took Laras's hand, and they left the station together. The clock struck exactly ten at night as they reached the parking area.

As they walked toward the car, they continued to joke and talk about work. The parking lot was quite deserted.

Only about eight colleagues remained in the building. There were only three cars left in the lot, including Aldo's.

"Please, Princess, step inside!" Aldo said as they reached his car.

He opened the door for Laras, welcoming her with grand hospitality. Laras smiled, but just as she was about to get in, she hesitated.

"Hah!" Laras gasped.

A flash of a vision suddenly struck her. Through her gift, the blind Laras saw something for a brief moment—something very dark inside Aldo's trunk. Its aura was incredibly heavy.

"What's wrong, Laras?" Aldo asked, worried.

Laras suddenly clutched her head. She felt a sharp, dizzying pain.

"Why is Aldo's car so gloomy? The aura is thick, and it's coming from the trunk!" Laras thought to herself as she turned toward the back of the car.

Laras walked toward the trunk. Aldo followed her closely. When she reached it, she ran her hands over the closed lid.

"What are you carrying, Al?" Laras asked.

"What am I carrying? I'm not carrying anything!" Aldo replied, raising an eyebrow.

It felt strange to see Laras acting this way, but Aldo knew that everything she said had a reason. He trusted her completely.

"Open your trunk," Laras commanded.

Aldo nodded and opened it. As the trunk lid slowly rose, a metallic, bloody stench hit Laras's nose. She immediately covered her nostrils.

However, Aldo smelled nothing at all.

As the trunk opened, a wave of negative energy surged out, forcing Laras's consciousness into another dimension. Her body collapsed instantly, but Aldo caught her just in time.

"Laras!!!" Aldo cried out as he supported her limp body.

Meanwhile, in the other realm, Laras was shown a vision. She saw an old woman bathing a newborn baby.

Fresh blood mixed with the water in the basin—blood from the womb of a mother who had just given birth.

Then, the old woman carried the clean baby into an old house. It was a massive, three-story building.

Laras followed the old woman inside.

Judging by her appearance, she seemed to be a traditional midwife.

The old woman entered a bedroom. When the door opened, Laras saw the face of a woman lying weak and unconscious on the bed. Laras gasped in her heart.

"Aunt Lina?" Laras thought.

The woman was Aldo's mother. But why was she there? Beside her stood a man who looked like a dark shaman.

"How is it, Old One?" the mustachioed man asked the old woman.

Suddenly, the old woman placed the baby on a stone. The baby wailed uncontrollably, terrified as the old woman began to chant.

Her lips moved rapidly, reciting words Laras could not understand.

The baby was unusually small, looking premature.

When the chanting stopped, the old woman's head suddenly detached and flew upward, pulling her internal organs out with it.

Laras's eyes widened in horror. The woman was a Kuyang (a flying head spirit). Her human face turned deathly pale and terrifying as she flew toward Aunt Lina.

Aunt Lina remained unconscious, her legs spread wide. The Kuyang hovered below her, devouring something.

It was a gruesome sight.

The man standing beside Aunt Lina did not move or try to protect her. It was as if she had been intentionally offered to the creature.

The Kuyang eventually reattached itself to its body. The old woman picked up the baby from the stone once more.

Cradling the infant, she walked toward Aunt Lina and handed the baby to the mustachioed man.

"This boy is your son! I will not take him back! But remember, every Friday night, you must give me an offering. A dead black chicken!" the old woman told the man.

"Yes, of course!" the man replied.

"And once a year, I need the sacrifice of a fetus!" the old woman added.

Questions flooded Laras's mind. Who was that woman? What was the purpose of this dark pact? And who was that baby?

The answers came instantly when Aunt Lina opened her eyes. She and the man named the child: Aldonova.

Laras was stunned.

This meant Aldo's family had a pact with something evil. This was incredibly dangerous.

"Could it be? Is their family refusing to bless our relationship because they know I can sense these things? They are trying to hide this. And what that creature ate... it must have been a fetus. Which means Aldo had a twin! And his twin was sacrificed back then!" Laras assumed.

The sequence of visions stopped abruptly. Laras regained consciousness.

Her eyes blinked several times, and cold sweat began to pour down her face. She felt exhausted from the brief spiritual journey.

"Laras, are you okay?" Aldo asked.

They were already inside the car. When she had fainted, Aldo had carried her inside and laid her down.

"I'm okay," Laras replied, shifting herself into a sitting position.

"Are we still going to eat?" Aldo asked.

"Yes, we are," Laras answered.

Aldo smiled. After gently ruffling Laras's hair, he nodded and sat in the driver's seat. Laras moved to the front passenger seat beside him.

Throughout the journey, Laras could not stop thinking. Before meeting Aldo's parents, these visions had never appeared.

It was only after meeting Aldo's mother a few days ago that these horrifying images began to haunt her.
