Chapter 20 - Magic Weapons

Tresia immediately rushed to the wild tree area on the edge of the settlement. She walked with quick and careful steps, touching every branch, seeking an inner connection with nature.

In Tresia's mind, admiration for Arvin swelled.

Besides being proficient in combat magic and swordsmanship, is Young Master Arvin also an Alchemist? He really is a very strong human, almost perfect. Although he has the power to destroy us in an instant, Young Master Arvin treats us well. He healed my daughter, accepted us filthy people to work under the grand banner of Vedegra.

Tresia wiped a tear from her cheek as she found a piece of wood that felt warm in her hand.

While all nobles closed their eyes to our condition, and even our own kingdom betrayed us repeatedly... this young man came offering a hand. It seems Rayand and my husband's decision to swear loyalty to the Vedegra family was the right thing for the survival of all our lives.

On the other side, Arvin began to work. He didn't polish the weapons one by one because it would take too long. He used his mana to levitate the weapons in the air, orbiting his body like planets.

From his dimensional storage, he took out magic crystals and several pieces of jewelry to serve as base materials to strengthen their weapons.

Blinding light filled the yard again. Old rusted metals fell away, replaced by a new, gleaming layer. The weapon structures were condensed, balance improved, and mana pathways implanted into every weapon.

When the light dimmed, the weapons fell back into their owners' hands.

"Try flowing your mana!" Arvin ordered.

The mercenaries obeyed. Instantly, the swords glowed. All weapons sparked with elements of fire, water, light, darkness, lightning, wind, or earth according to the owner's talent.

"This... this is amazing!"

"I can feel my magic merging with this sword!"

"This is a real magic weapon!"

They couldn't even believe what they were seeing. Everyone could use magic in their respective weapons. Red Sand's combat power had just increased tenfold.

Melisa, sitting on the terrace bench witnessing everything, was astounded until her mouth hung open.

What kind of Alchemy magic is that? The weapons he changed would cost hundreds of gold coins apiece if sold on the black market. But he gave away dozens of those weapons for free?

The girl stared at Arvin's back with a complex gaze. What is he actually thinking? I really can't guess his train of thought.

Just then, Tresia returned. She brought a straight piece of dark brown wood with a naturally smooth surface. She stopped for a moment, amazed at the sight before her where everyone was trying their new weapons with happy faces.

She dared to approach Arvin who was wiping his hands.

"Young Master, this is the wood that I feel is suitable and comfortable in my hand!" she said while handing the wood to Arvin with both hands.

Arvin accepted the wood, weighing it for a moment. "Good choice. Wait a moment. I will make it for you after I finish cleaning up the remaining work."

"Thank you very much, Young Master! I will look forward to the best magic staff you make."

Tresia stood back by her husband's side while continuing to watch Arvin who was very busy.

And finally, the work was finished. All members of the Red Sand mercenaries were very satisfied and happy with the new weapons they possessed. They gathered, knelt on one knee, and once again swore loyalty to the Vedegra family with loud voices that vibrated the afternoon air.

After the crowd settled, Arvin took the piece of wood previously given by Tresia. He reached into the void in the air again.

This time, he took out a small chunk of magic crystal and a pure gold necklace from inside his dimensional storage space.

"Watch carefully." Arvin muttered.

He combined the piece of wood, the chunk of magic crystal, and the gold necklace into one with his Alchemy magic. The wood softened under Arvin's magic control, writhing like clay.

Everyone watched the process of making the magic staff without blinking.

Slowly, the wood began to elongate and solidify, forming an elegant staff. Its diameter narrowed at the grip, but towards the top, the diameter slightly enlarged forming blooming flower petals.

The gold necklace melted, then wrapped around the wooden shaft, forming a beautiful gold spiral from the bottom tip to the top tip, serving as a structural reinforcer as well as a mana conductor. And at the tip, an intricate carving pattern formed, embracing the purple magic crystal in the center.

When the creation light faded, the magic staff floated down.

Everyone was very amazed by its beauty and luxury. The magic staff measured 80cm, dark brown layered with gold spiraling around the staff. A gentle healing aura radiated from it.

"Truly... a very beautiful and luxurious masterpiece!" praised Tresia, her hands trembling wanting to touch it.

Arvin approached Tresia then handed the magic staff to her.

"This is the magic staff for you, Tresia!" said Arvin while giving the magic staff to her. "Rest assured, I implanted a locking spell in it. No one else can use your magic staff unless you allow it or you bequeath it to your daughter."

Tresia accepted the staff with glassy eyes. She felt like she was holding a star.

Arvin then looked at all the mercenaries.

"The same goes for the weapons you have!" Arvin shouted loudly. "I have bound your mana to those weapons. Besides the owner, no one else can use them. I hope you can use those weapons correctly to protect the Vedegra family. If people ask about the origin of the weapons, just say that they are my creation! Let them know whom you serve!"

"Yes, Young Master!" they answered in unison, their voices full of spirit.

Arvin nodded in satisfaction. His business here was done.

"I will return to the capital now to sell this magic crystal and handle the documents." Arvin said while tidying his robe. "Tomorrow morning, I will come here again and bring all the logistics you need to go to the Vedegra territory. Pack the things you want to bring now!"

"Yes, Young Master!"
