Chapter 3 - The Straw that Breaks the Camel’s Back

Bryce

I don't recall what I dreamt that night, only that I felt safe, comfortable, and loved. A feeling I've never felt in my entire life. Someone was calling out to me. I heard a voice call my name, but I couldn't distinguish who it was.

"Bryce, wake up," the voice was saying, "Bryce!"

I felt warmth all around me as if I were being cradled. I was waking up and felt my pillow wasn't fluffy, but squishy like something filled with gel.

"Ouch, Bryce," I heard the voice say, "Don't squeeze my arm like that when it's asleep."

Arm? I opened my eyes and what I woke up to shocked the hell out of me. Ben, in bed with me.

"You slept on my arm all night," he said, "It's practically numb."

I was speechless, a million thoughts scurried through my brain and I couldn't process a single one. Ben must've sensed I was about to lose my head.

"Why so shocked?" He asked, "You fell asleep in my bed."

"You, me, your bed?" was all I could manage to say. My hand was on his bare chest, and my legs were draped over his. From what I could feel, he wasn't wearing anything underneath the blanket covering us. "And you're naked?"

Ben smiled and said, "Well, last night, you and I…"

I couldn't hear any more. I mustered all my strength and pushed myself off the bed, landing flat on my ass, hard. "That's not true!" I shouted, "Ben, you asshole, you sick fuck, son of a bitch!"

Ben just laid there, laughing like this was a sick game of his. Before either of us could say another word, someone knocked on our door frantically.

"Hey," shouted the voice on the other side of the door, "Shut the fuck up, some people are trying to sleep here."

Ben broke the silence and asked, "You want to deal with that, or should I?"

"Neither!" was all I said. I couldn't let anyone know my roommate raped me, they would think I was a fucking joke. A poor excuse of a man. I couldn't lose face over this. I retreated to my bed and hid under the covers.

"Bryce," Ben called out to me but I ignored him. "Bryce, stop being such a coward and talk to me."

"I'm no fucking coward," I said, "And I have nothing to say to you." I started to have a panic attack, my breathing became quick, shallow, and broken like I was going to cry.

Ben's mood changed from playful to concerned. "Bryce, are you ok? Are you crying?"

"Fuck no," I said unconvincingly, "I'm not a sissy like you." I calmed myself a little. Enough to finally ask, "Why was I in your bed?"

Ben sighed and said, "You got drunk and fell asleep on my bed."

"Liar!"

"You can ask your friends," he replied, "They left after a few rounds of Zombies."

"Why should I believe you?"

"Use your brain, Bryce. Why would I go through the trouble of dragging you out of your bed and into mine, when I can easily climb into your bed and have my way with you."

The thought sickened me, but he made a valid point. "You had your way with me already, rapist."

Ben just laughed and rolled his eyes, "If you want proof that we did anything, check your body, that should be enough to clear my name."

I followed his advice to see what he did to me. Surprisingly, I didn't feel tingly like I usually did after sex. My ass was hurting but that was because of the fall. Based on that, I could say he really didn't do anything except fuck with my mind. I'll get him back for that.

After a few minutes, Ben came back from our bathroom, fully dressed and ready to go. He picked up his back pack while I was getting my clothes ready for the day. All he said when he left the dorm was, "See you later, Roomie."

"Fuck you, faggot!" was all I said when he closed the door. I proceeded to continue with my day until I saw my reflection in the mirror. I dropped my clothes and ran towards the mirror. I saw several hickies on my chest, right below my neck to where I can easily hide them. But there was no mistaking it. I was so angy, all I could say was, "Fucking Ben, I'm going to kill you, you asshole!"

Techno

I was worried about Ben and Bryce the whole day. I know how mean Bryce can get, but at the same time, Ben had the look and vibe of someone you think twice before crossing him. I couldn't pay attention to anything in my classes.

That was until football practice. I was getting changed into my gear until I heard my name called by a familiar voice and a tone that held a murderous rage.

"NOAH!"

"Bryce," I laughed to hide how scared I was of him, "My good friend, please calm down." He chased me all around the locker room while I kept asking him to calm down. He almost caught me until one of our teammates came through and I hid behind him like a human shield. "Just calm down, man."

"I can't fucking calm down," he said, "It's all your fault, dickhead. You left me behind. You know what happened to me?"

"Wait, you mean you two?" He made a move to attack me but using my human shield, I immediately stopped him. "Wait, wait, wait, stop right there. I can truthfully say that I had nothing to do with this. You passed out on his bed last night."

The moment I said that, my human shield immediately escaped. "What the fuck? I'm staying out of this. See ya."

So much for my shield, I am now completely defenseless against Bryce.

Bryce calmed down a bit and asked, "So I fell asleep on his bed?"

"Yes," I answered, "You did, and no matter how hard I tried to wake you up you just laid there. And let me say this in advance, your dorm was about to lock up for curfew, so I had to leave. I did nothing wrong here. Besides, mom would kill me if I didn't come home on a school night."

"I'm going to kill you now."

"Stop right there," I said, "This is all your fault. You decided to get drunk, knowing full well what your roommate is, you decided to bring the booze and the guys over. This was all your idea."

Out of nowhere, Bryce slaps the back of my head hard. "I went through hell this morning because you left me behind."

"Dude, I had no choice," I said, then I realized what Ben promised me last night and decided to ask, "So did you guys do it?"

"Fuck no," he said, "Nothing happened, thank God."

"So he kept his word then."

"What the fuck are you talking about?" he asked.

"I was concerned about you," I told Bryce, "I told him not to do anything to you, and he said that he doesn't have sex with drunk people. Ergo, he kept his word."

"What an asshole!" was all he said.

"Wait," I asked with confusion clear in my tone, "Why are you pissed again?"

"Because he's confident that any guy who gets in his bed is willing to have sex with him. If anything did happen, it meant I did it willingly. I can't let that happen."

Sometimes I really question his logic. I immediately move to change the subject. "Anyway, it's over, it's in the past. By the way, I have some good news for you."

"What is it?" he asked, "Ever since Ben came into my life, nothing good has happened to me."

"Trust me this is good," I told him, "I found someone to switch rooms with you."

"Really? Who?"

I motion for Bryce to follow me and we walk over to this tall, broad, guy with shoulder length brown hair and blue eyes.

"Champ," I call out to the guy, "Hey Champ, this is Bryce. Bryce, meet Champ."

"Sup," said Bryce, "Nice to meet you."

"Likewise," Champ said with a thick country drawl, "I hear you wanna switch dorms?"

"Yeah," I answer for Bryce, "He and his roommate don't get along and he wishes to get out before things get bad."

"I'll be glad to help with that," said Champ, "Not saying my roommate's a bad guy. He's in Pre-Med and he's constantly studying all night so I can't sleep. That's why I wanna change rooms."

"Well," I said to have them work this out, "You guys can iron out the details and…"

"I'm not changing rooms." Bryce said abruptly. I just looked at him with a frustrated look after going through the trouble of finding someone to swap dorm rooms with now this bastard wants to stay. If I could I would strangle him.

Bryce

As much as I appreciate Techno going through the trouble of finding a guy to switch rooms with, I knew I had some unfinished business with that bastard, Ben.

"Thanks Champ," I said to him, "Thanks for wanting to switch with me and I'm sorry for wasting your time, but my roommate and I have some unfinished business together."

"It's ok," Champ said, "If you change your mind, just let me know ok? See you guys on the field." Champ left and was getting into his gear, leaving me alone with Techno who looked like he wanted to strangle me out of frustration.

"What is up with you?" Techno asked, "You make this huge ordeal out of Ben being gay and not wanting to room with him and now you have a chance to get out of there and you pass on it."

"If I move out, I lose to him," I said, "He needs to move out, not me."

Techno just smiled and said, "I can't believe you're putting your ass virginity on the line for this pointless grudge." He said while leaving and laughing at me. I was ready to leave that dorm room behind me and never see that faggot again, but after leaving those marks on me, I can't let him get away with this.
