Hearing Zod's words, Doctor Fate didn't hesitate at all. He immediately reached out and took off his helmet.
Even if doing so meant he would lose his powers and perhaps fall from the sky.
Instantly, his battle suit disappeared, revealing his true appearance beneath: a mature and elegant middle-aged man in a gentleman's suit.
Seeing that he was still standing steadily in the void, Doctor Fate also felt relieved.
He held his helmet in one hand and bowed slightly to Zod, saying, "Hello, my name is Kent Nelson, or you can call me Doctor Fate!"
Although Zod knew the other party possessed the ability to foresee the future, Doctor Fate's candid attitude and courage still earned him some goodwill.
Goodwill was goodwill, but Zod did not give him a good look. He merely said in an amused tone:
"You dare to take off your helmet in front of me. It seems you foresaw your future before coming here!"
"However, I am a bit curious, can the future you saw be wrong?"
As he spoke, Zod released a powerful killing intent that enveloped him, implying he would kill him the next moment.
Facing such a threat, Doctor Fate only showed a flicker of panic for an instant at the very beginning.
But he quickly calmed down and said in a tone that seemed to have seen through everything, "The future, until the moment it finally arrives, is not a fixed fact."
"What's more, the future I first saw has already changed, and the source of all these changes is you, General Zod from Krypton, or rather, someone outside of fate."
After hearing this, Zod had to admit that these ancient inherited powers truly had some tricks up their sleeves.
Clearly, Doctor Fate had already seen another future where Zod had not traveled through!
Immediately, Zod reined in his killing intent.
He spoke indifferently, "Tell me, what is your purpose in choosing to appear before me this time?"
Feeling the pressure on him disappear, even the seemingly calm Doctor Fate couldn't help but let out a slight sigh of relief.
Then, with a solemn expression, he said, "General Zod, I am here this time simply to confirm your attitude towards Earth."
"To be honest, since your appearance, the futures of all those connected to you have deviated from their original trajectories, and the future scenes I see are as if shrouded in a mist."
Zod was not surprised by this, as the variables he, this butterfly, had caused were already numerous!
Seeing him gaze at him without flinching, Zod slowly shook his head and said, "I bear no ill will towards Earth, nor do I have much interest in it. You need not worry."
"No, that's not what I mean. I actually hope that General Zod, you can lend a hand to Earth's heroes when Earth falls into crisis in the future."
Doctor Fate, seeing that Zod seemed to have misunderstood him, immediately explained.
Hearing this, Zod merely calmly retorted:
"Oh! What do I gain by doing this? The empty title of a hero, or the worthless and perhaps fleeting gratitude of the world? Or perhaps fear and hostility?"
Every word mercilessly pointed directly at the complexities of human nature.
"As a human, I believe you, like me, are well aware of the weaknesses and fickle nature of humanity."
In his previous life, watching Superman save people in distress as a superhero was very moving, but this process was also accompanied by a great deal of distrust and even slander.
From a viewer's perspective, he would also feel wronged and indignant for Superman, even if his actions were eventually accepted and recognized.
And from an outsider's perspective, it was clear at a glance why Superman was gradually accepted by humanity.
Firstly, his identity as an orphan of Krypton, coupled with being raised by Earth parents since childhood, and moreover, he explicitly sided with humanity during the Battle of Metropolis, personally ending the lives of his last remaining kin.
It was this series of actions that earned him the trust of some people.
But as the saying goes, even if a good person has done a thousand good deeds, if there is even one mistake, it will be infinitely magnified.
Lex Luthor exploited this point, and with a little guidance, easily turned Superman from a hero into a public enemy.
Zod had no interest in doing such thankless work. Heroes, let those of noble character do that!
"General Zod..."
Just as Doctor Fate was about to say something more to Zod, a fiery figure was rapidly flying towards them from a distance.
Seeing the newcomer, Doctor Fate did not put on his helmet, because he was a member of the Justice Society and had deep connections with the government.
The other party belonged to the Metahuman Operations Force, a department directly established by the government. In a way, they had a colleague relationship, so he wasn't worried about his identity being exposed.
"So, what you just said was just to stall for time, waiting for reinforcements to arrive?"
Zod's voice rang in Doctor Fate's ears, causing his expression to stiffen.
"General Zod, please don't misunderstand. My actions this time are purely out of my personal will and have nothing to do with the government. I also have no intention of becoming your enemy."
Fearing that Zod would act, Doctor Fate hastily explained.
At this moment, he really wanted to put his helmet back on and use his mental powers to warn the arriving Firestorm to be careful of his words and actions.
But he was also worried that putting on his helmet would cause Zod to misunderstand, and a look of anxiety involuntarily appeared in his eyes.
In a flash, Firestorm had already flown in front of the two of them.
When he received the order, he had already been informed that the enemy they would be facing this time might be a terrifying entity capable of easily destroying any super metropolis with a mere lift of its hand.
He was told to be extremely careful in his words and actions, and not to initiate conflict without knowing the other party's intentions, because the cost was something they could not bear.
Although Ronnie was still the dominant will in Firestorm now, after years of collaboration and communication with Martin, he was no longer the impulsive high school student he once was; his thinking had matured somewhat.
Therefore, the moment he landed, he immediately spoke first: "Sir, please don't misunderstand, I did not come with hostility. It's just that my boss wants to talk to you."
"If the boss you're referring to is the bald gentleman in a wig sitting in an armed helicopter 150 kilometers away, then I'm afraid he's not qualified."
"Oh, and remember to tell your president that my name is Zod, and I represent the entire civilization of New Krypton."
"If Earth wishes to engage in equal dialogue between civilizations, then let him first find a way to persuade all countries on Earth to unite and speak with one voice."
After Zod finished speaking, he no longer paid them any attention and vanished in a flash!
This was his first greeting to his current Earth neighbors.
The void platform, no longer sustained by Zod, immediately dissipated, and Doctor Fate instantly put on his helmet, regaining his divine powers.
Firestorm looked at Zod's disappearing figure and asked Doctor Fate with some hesitation, "Mr. Kent, are his words true?"
"It is true. The power of Krypton is far more than that. Earth currently does not have the qualifications to engage in equal dialogue with it."
At the same time, he secretly added in his heart, "Perhaps even less so in the future."
