Chapter 63 - Chapter 63 Doctor Fate Appears

After locating the mother box, Zod didn't hesitate, flying directly towards it and soon landing outside S.T.A.R. Labs.

He had no intention of hiding his presence; after all, they had been neighbors for so long, it was only proper to formally greet them.

This could also be considered a preemptive warning, as Earth's true troubles and crises were still to come.

Moments after he appeared in the skies over America, the military's high-energy alert system went completely haywire.

Inside a military command center, a grizzled American general sternly demanded, "Who can tell me what the hell is going on?"

Immediately, someone reported to him: "General, a high-energy signature just appeared over New York. Based on the energy frequency, it's confirmed to be the unknown humanoid entity captured by satellites a few times before!"

Before he could finish, someone else immediately reported the latest situation: "General, the energy fluctuation of that entity instantly shifted from New York to Metropolis."

"Damn it, is he still targeting cities? What does he want? Immediately activate the highest level emergency protocol."

"Make sure to constantly track his movements. I'll report to the President. Also, immediately notify the head of the Superpowered Operations Unit to send his freaks to Metropolis at once."

As the general's orders were issued, all parties began to move swiftly. This time, they were facing an enemy more formidable than the Soviet Union.

Outside the S.T.A.R. Labs building, Zod slowly descended from the sky, immediately drawing the attention of security personnel.

Given the lab's deep cooperation with the U.S. government, these security guards were all retired soldiers from U.S. military combat units.

Although Zod's descent from the sky instinctively filled them with fear, they still aimed their firearms at him.

"Sir, please do not approach the lab any further, or we will open fire!"

Seeing the red dots appearing on his body, Zod couldn't help but chuckle.

This was, in fact, the first time he had been targeted by a weapon like a gun.

His steps didn't falter, and everyone was involuntarily forced to retreat further into the lab.

"Bang!"

Just then, a gunshot suddenly rang out, and a bullet flew towards Zod's head.

However, before it could even get close to his body, the bullet struck his bio-force field and then dropped to the ground.

Nevertheless, that first gunshot seemed to open a floodgate, and all previous fear transformed into a deluge of bullets.

"Bang bang bang bang!"

Flattened bullets dropped at Zod's feet, but they did not impede his advance in the slightest.

He held no killing intent towards these ordinary people; passing them, he didn't even spare them a glance.

It was as if a giant dragon would not stoop to look at ants.

However, those who had just fired, watching his back as he headed towards the lab's core area, were already drenched in cold sweat.

Some were trembling like a sieve, leaning against the wall, dry-heaving uncontrollably.

Others' legs gave out, and they collapsed to the ground, panting heavily, their faces pale.

Without truly experiencing such a moment of despair, one could not comprehend the immense psychological pressure they had just endured.

Zod walked to the core area of the lab, unfurled his psychic abilities, and immediately pinpointed the exact location of the mother box amidst the many thoughts.

"It's here!"

Looking inside with his X-ray vision, he saw two humanoid figures, one male and one female, holding a square box that his X-ray vision couldn't penetrate, leaving through another door.

The next second, Zod's figure flickered and appeared directly in front of their escape path.

"Bang!"

The young Black male researcher, focused on hurrying with the mother box, crashed headfirst into Zod, then bounced back and fell to the ground, the mother box slipping from his hands.

Zod reached out, and the mother box autonomously flew into his hand.

Then he tore open the space in front of him and placed the mother box inside.

"No, you can't take the mother box!"

In a moment of urgency, the Black female researcher cried out to Zod.

Zod glanced at his ID card in his left breast pocket, which clearly read Eleanor Betti, Assistant Researcher.

Then he looked at the male researcher who had fallen to the ground, Silas Stone, also an Assistant Researcher.

Suddenly, Zod understood. These must be Cyborg's parents, but it seemed they hadn't married yet, and Cyborg's birth was still nearly a decade away.

"Sir, please put down the mother box. This belongs to the U.S. government. If you take it, you will surely bring unnecessary trouble upon yourself."

Silas stood up from the ground and said to Zod.

Hearing this, Zod chuckled lightly and said, "The mother box is not of Earth, nor does it belong to America. The power within it is not something humans can covet."

"As a researcher, you should be even clearer that uncontrollable power only brings disaster, wouldn't you agree, Mr. Silas?"

With that, Zod turned and left.

As for whether Victor could still become Cyborg after he took the mother box, that would be up to fate!

Zod was not prepared to take the mother box guarded by the Amazon and Atlantis now.

After all, he had just formed an alliance with the gods of Olympus and received benefits from them; it would be somewhat unethical to immediately go and snatch the mother box.

In any case, the three mother boxes cannot be placed together, otherwise, who knows if some hidden command would be activated.

As long as the mother boxes are not combined into one, then the Unity will not be released, and the Boom Tube cannot be opened to summon the Apokolips army.

However, before Zod could even walk out of the S.T.A.R. Labs building, he seemed to step into a mysterious illusionary space.

Countless spatial mirrors appeared all around him.

Standing in the void before him was a figure wearing a full-coverage golden helmet, a blue battle suit, and a golden cape.

Seeing this classic appearance, Zod instantly recognized his identity, then indifferently said, "You are here to stop me?"

As he spoke, the divine consciousness from Zod's brow immediately burst forth with a golden light, and the extremely potent and fierce power instantly disintegrated the illusionary space constructed by the other party.

The two were still inside the S.T.A.R. Labs building.

Then, Zod merely waved his hand in the void, and instantly the space they were in transformed.

The next second, the two were standing hundreds of meters above Metropolis in the void.

Feeling Zod's intimidating move, Doctor Fate's heart tensed.

Then, a deep, magnetic male voice came from beneath the helmet: "General Zod, do not misunderstand, I have no ill intentions, I merely wish to converse with you."

"Wearing a helmet, hiding your face, is not the attitude for a conversation."

Zod knew that the helmet was Doctor Fate's true form; only by wearing the helmet would he gain divine power.

The reason he pretended not to know his identity and said this was to see if he would remove his helmet, to gauge his sincerity for a conversation.
