Chapter 31 - Chapter 31 Martian Harvest

Martian Manhunter looked at Malefic, who had vanished without a trace, his face showing not the joy of vengeance, but a silent sorrow.

After all, in his eyes, though he had avenged his innocent kin and his wife and daughter, Malefic was still his own brother, and perhaps the last Martian besides himself.

Seeing him like this, Zod couldn't help but recall Clark's similar breakdown after breaking his original body's neck when he watched the movie in his previous life.

They must have felt the same, believing they had personally severed ties with the last blood-related kin in the world.

However, things weren't as bad as he thought; Zod knew clearly that Martian Manhunter wasn't the only Martian survivor, though he had fled to an unknown location.

So Zod stepped forward and softly said, "Everything in the past is over. You can look forward now!"

Meanwhile, Dr. Edd, clad in armor, stumbled towards them from a distance.

Seeing Zod and Martian Manhunter unharmed, he let out a sigh of relief; he hadn't even been able to clearly see the battle that had just occurred.

He then said with a tone of relief, "J'onn, it's great to see you're alright!"

Listening to their comforting words, Martian Manhunter exhaled deeply, a touch of emotion on his face: "Mr. Zod, may I stay a little longer? I wish to bid my final farewell to everything of my homeland!"

"Of course, that's only right."

Zod had no reason to refuse such a trivial request.

It was a good opportunity for him to explore Mars. After all, the fame of Mars in his previous life was legendary.

Although there was no Great Thunderclap Temple, no Crocodile Ancestor, and no Bodhi tree, it still offered a unique landscape different from Earth.

Subsequently, Dr. Edd followed Martian Manhunter to help him erect a monument for his people, while Zod flew in the sky, surveying the entire Martian landscape from above.

Overall, most areas of Mars appeared desolate, not looking like they could support life.

But in Zod's ears, he could hear the sounds of many different kinds of creatures.

One sound, however, caught Zod's attention: it seemed to be the sound of a creature chewing food, and judging by the sound alone, the creature's size couldn't be small.

"Can Mars's environment still foster large creatures?"

Zod became interested, quickly pinpointed the source of the sound, and flew towards it.

The sound came from within a massive canyon. Zod hovered in the air, his gaze sweeping downwards, but on the surface, he saw no sign of any large creatures.

But when he activated his X-ray vision, he immediately saw a huge underground space ten meters beneath the surface, where a giant creature, tens of meters long, was coiled.

Zod swooped down, easily breaking through the rock layer and entering the space.

"Roar!"

Discovering an intruder in its territory, the creature let out a defiant roar towards Zod, but its body was constantly retreating.

"Is this a dragon or a lizard?"

At this moment, Zod saw the creature in its entirety: it was entirely crimson, its appearance identical to the Western dragons he had seen in movies in his previous life, but it lacked a pair of wings.

The food it was chewing was not the flesh of any creature, but a type of ore the same color as its body.

Although this was a world based on science fiction, it was not without various gods, ghosts, demons, and strange species.

Zod ignored its threat, flying around it once, observing the gem-like scales on its body, through which a special power seemed to flow.

When he activated his X-ray vision to try and discern its internal structure, he found that the layer of scales on its body blocked his sight.

After realizing its threats were completely ineffective, the monster seemed to get angry. Its scales glowed red, and then it opened its mouth and spat a crimson pillar of fire at Zod.

Zod casually dodged, and the pillar of fire struck the rock wall above. In just a few seconds, the seemingly hard rock directly melted into lava-like substance under the scorching flames, dripping downwards.

"It's not ordinary fire. Is this thing a magical creature?"

While he was pondering, the monster again spewed a stream of flames at him.

Zod then extended his hand, and the golden divine power surging from his Spring of Life flowed through each finger; he actually caught the flames in his hand.

Then, his other hand seemingly lightly tapped the monster's head, and the heavy force instantly produced a loud sound, like metal clashing, against its skull.

The ground beneath the monster's feet cracked inch by inch.

In an instant, the instinct of fear permeated the monster's heart. It wanted to escape, but Zod directly used his telepathic ability to convey a message to it: "Dare to run, and I'll kill you!"

Feeling the oppressive aura emanating from Zod, the monster whimpered and curled into a ball, abandoning its thought of escape.

At this moment, Zod pondered in his mind: "If it's a magical creature, then perhaps those scales on its body could provide some help for Leto and his team to upgrade their armor."

Then he glanced at the monster thoughtfully.

Feeling Zod's gaze, the monster trembled violently, its scales shaking and rustling.

Immediately, Zod closed his eyes, as if sensing something, then suddenly opened them and stretched out his hand to open a Dimensional Wall.

Leto and two Kryptonian warriors appeared before him as the Dimensional Wall vanished.

"It worked!"

Seeing himself use the extended ability of the Dimensional Wall, Zod's heart filled with joy. This meant he had successfully established a spatial connection point between Earth and Mars!

From now on, he could use the Dimensional Wall to travel between the two planets at any time.

"General, what are your orders?"

Leto and his team showed no panic in this situation, as they had all seen Zod use this ability before.

"Leto, that fellow seems to be a magical creature, and its scales contain some special power. Take some back for research; it might give you some ideas."

Hearing Zod's words, Leto walked up to the monster, examined it carefully, and then unceremoniously reached out and pulled off several palm-sized scales from its body.

"Roar!"

Treated in such a way, the monster let out a low growl, but when Zod's gaze swept over it, its head immediately lowered deeply, and it quickly shrank back.

Immediately, Zod reached out again, and the Dimensional Wall instantly sent Leto back.

As for the remaining two Kryptonian warriors, Zod commanded them: "You two will temporarily stay here and watch over it. I will pick you up once Leto's research yields results."

"Yes, General!"

The two showed no hesitation in obeying Zod's command.
