Adrian stared at him for a long while, the silence stretching between them with Ryan's heart heaving persistently. Then, Adrian smiled, and it wasn't a nice smile.
"Fine, I accept your terms," He said, and stood up abruptly, leaving his wife half-filled and his steak untouched.
He shifted the chair to step out but stopped mid-way and leaned over the table, his shadow falling over Ryan.
"I'm done playing this game. It's starting to bore me, so I'm going to clear one thing up. That near-sex-after-party incident at my apartment? The one you think you initiated? The reason why you fixed this whole nonsense up. Well, you didn't initiate a single thing. You were completely out of it, and I jumped on you."
He let out a laugh, completely satisfied with the expression on Ryan's face. "How can you be such a fool to even have to distort your own memory to think you were the culprit?"
