"No," he said plainly, turning to walk inside as if standing even a second close to her was a waste of time.
Lilly's mouth fell open in shock. Her eyes widened as she watched the two men stride away from her, her cheeks burning in humiliation. She looked around the parking lot, making sure no one had witnessed it.
She had heard stories about the man's arrogance, and like every woman, she had taken interest in him. Even though he rarely showed up at events, she had planned to leave a lasting impression on him.
It's all Julia's fault.
If she hadn't demoted me, none of this would have happened.
The word Managing Director still burned like acid in her chest.
"Any news?" Kelvin asked.
Finn swallowed lightly, arranging his words carefully.
"None of the antiviruses have worked so far."
Kelvin's jaw tightened.
"Secretary finn when i employed you i didn't know i had to teach you your job too" he said his hand reached for the elevator bottom
"Of course of not mr president, "finn said quickly bowing down, the elevator suddenly felt hot despite the AC,
"Well than do your job, if there is someone smart enough to create a virus that can damage our system, than proach the person over, "he lectured
Finn's eyes widen in enlightenment as though a bulb just got lit-up , he could ask lilly, the lady look like she will sell off their company for anything.
"Boss you are so smart it must be so hard working with someone so mediocre as me" he flattered, kelvin face didn't change even for a sec at the compliment.
" that's why you should do your job properly if you don't want to get replaced"
Ding ! The door opened.
"What about Aurexx?" he asked.
"They suffered huge losses too," Finn replied, a little proud of the damage he had caused.
"And here we are suffering the same losses," Kelvin said dryly.
His first image of Julia had been a woman crying in a graveyard.
To think she had the nerve to fight back.
"Has the body buried beside my mother been moved?" he asked.
"Uh… no. I went to see Julia, but she wasn't in the company."
Kelvin turned slowly, fixing Finn with a cold stare.
"Fix it. After you proach the person over, make sure Aurexx burns to the ground."
Burn to the ground… Finn thought.
We're already suffering from the backlash, and the boss still wants to fan the flames.
"Don't underestimate her this time," Kelvin warned.
"Yes, boss," Finn bowed and left.
Julia drove back to her family house.
Being around her mother always made her uncomfortable. She was afraid of slipping—of acting wrong—after all, she still had Tina's soul inside her, mixed with Julia's memories. That was why she had been avoiding calls from some of her old friends.
"Look who suddenly remembered she has a mother," Megan teased, descending the stairs with a flower pot in her hands. She handed it to the maid and moved to hug Julia.
"Oh, you've lost weight," she gushed.
Julia stiffened under the hug.
Growing up without a mother, she had never had anyone fuss over her like this. A part of her felt guilty for deceiving the woman, but another part of her felt greedy for the warmth.
"I'm fine," Julia muttered. "It's not like I had much to lose anyway."
Megan sighed. "It must have been hard on you. You need pampering. When last did we even have a mother-and-daughter outing?"
She was already dragging Julia along.
They arrived at one of the city's most luxurious spa parlours—where only elites could afford. The receptionist welcomed them and led them inside to choose their treatments.
"Megan!"
A woman called out, walking toward them. From her dressing alone, anyone could tell she belonged to high society.
Both mother and daughter turned.
A smile stretched across Megan's face her eyes glowing in recognition. Julia tried to remember if she had seen the woman before.
"look at you!!You look beautiful as ever," the woman gushed, pulling Megan into a hug.
"How have you been? I heard you left the state," Megan asked, smiling.
"I just came back," the woman replied. Then her eyes landed on Julia.
"Julia?" she called out in peasant surprise.
Julia gave an awkward bow.
"Nice to see you again. Hope you had a nice trip."
"Thank you, dear. You're even more beautiful than the last time I saw you. Carolina would be jealous if she saw you," she joked.
They all laughed.
"What about Caro?" Megan asked. "Is she back yet? It's been so long since i last saw her."
"I managed to drag her back this time.it wasn't an easy fit, she's still in the parking lot. I don't know what's taking her so long."
The women continued chatting as they walked in and sat down.
From Julia's inherited memories, she remembered Jessica—one of the richest women in the city, owner of a successful beauty brand. Her daughter, Carolina, was the opposite of the former Julia.
Not girly
Not demure ,she was Bold. Loud. Wild.
The old Julia never really get along with but Jessica kept on forcing their relationship hoping that Julia's girly energy would rub off her.
