Chapter 15 - THE EVIL STEPSISTER

KOO MUJIN could count in his hands how many times Lee Haneum had gotten jealous during their marriage.

Yeah, his husband wasn't the jealous type.

Plus, he never gave Lee Haneum a reason to feel jealous of anyone.

He hated making his Omega feel insecure.

However, at that moment, Koo Mujin thought Lee Haneum was being cute.

Aww.

Lee Haneum was pouting, and his cheeks had turned red as if he were embarrassed that he was acting jealous.

I'm having cuteness aggression here…

Koo Mujin had to put his hands in his pockets, so that he could stop himself from squeezing Lee Haneum's cheeks.

"Why would I be jealous?" Lee Haneum complained, but the Omega couldn't even turn in Koo Mujin's direction. "I don't care who you like. Plus, Kim Jaehan is a good catch. I won't blame you if you fall for him."

"Yes, Kim Jaehan is a good person," Koo Mujin agreed while nodding, making Lee Haneum pout even more. While it was cute to see his husband getting jealous, he didn't want to make him feel insecure towards his best friend. After all, there was no reason for that. "But I don't like Kim Jaehan that way, Haneum-ah."

"Then why do you show excessive care towards him? I mean, don't get me wrong. I'm glad that you have empathy towards other people. But I can't help but think you're being overly nice to Kim Jaehan."

"Well, I generally feel bad for sick kids. And I especially feel bad for Kim Jaehan because he's your best friend, Haneum-ah."

"Really?"

"Yes. I'm taking care of him because I don't want you to feel sad if he gets sick again. But I guess you're right— I'm being excessive."

In Koo Mujin's defense, Kim Jaehan looked like a literal child to him.

He was just taking care of the kid like how he would take care of Koo Hajin.

But he could see why Lee Haneum would think he was being excessive.

I have to be extra careful around these kids.

"I'll tone it down," Koo Mujin said. "So, please don't worry anymore, Haneum-ah. While I think that you're cute when you're being jealous, I don't want you to feel or think that I have someone else in my heart. That's just not true. You're the only person I'm interested in a romantic sense, Haneum-ah."

"How can you say something so embarrassing?"

"Well, I'm not embarrassed by my feelings for you, Haneum-ah."

"Eww. Stop being gross," Lee Haneum complained, walking faster— leaving Koo Mujin behind. "I'm going home now, so don't follow me!"

Koo Mujin laughed while waving at Lee Haneum. "See you tomorrow, Haneum-ah!"

CRAM SCHOOL?

Koo Mujin groaned in complaint when he saw the brochures for different cram schools on his desk.

His parents allowed him not to take night classes.

Lee Haneum doesn't go to night classes either, so why would I?

In Lee Haneum's case, he had a part-time job. The Omega had permission from the school to work, so he was also excuse from their night classes.

My husband is really amazing, huh?

Even without attending night classes or going to a cram school, Lee Haneum still managed to pass his college entrance exam for Yonhee University— one of the most prestigious universities in South Korea.

But I want Lee Haneum to stop working…

Koo Mujin got distracted when he received a K-Talk message from none other than Lee Haneum.

Of course, he instantly checked his message.

['Can we meet now, Koo Mujin?']

Huh?

Koo Mujin immediately sent a reply.

['Of course! Where do you want to meet? I'll go to you, Haneum-ah.']

***

KOO MUJIN should have known that something was strange when Lee Haneum asked to meet in front of a bar.

Yes, a bar— in a sketchy neighborhood.

"Ah, you look like a young master, so you must be Koo Mujin."

Koo Mujin raised an eyebrow when a blonde girl greeted him.

Actually, it was a group composed of another girl and three young men. In fairness, everyone looked pretty good.

They look like a group of bullies, though.

"Where's Lee Haneum?" Koo Mujin asked calmly. He could fight, so he wasn't really that worried that he might get mugged there. "I got a message from him."

"Oh, that was me," the blonde girl said, holding up a familiar phone. "I borrowed my brother's phone because I wanted to meet you, Koo Mujin."

Ah.

Now wonder the girl looked familiar.

This is Lee Haneum's stepsister.

"I'm Kang Hanni," the blonde girl said. "I'm Lee Haneum's sister— well, stepsister, to be precise."

So, I'm right.

"Hello, Hanni Noona," Koo Mujin said in a flat tone. "Is there something I can do for you?"

"Yes, there's something you need to do for me," Kang Hanni said, extending her hand to Koo Mujin. "Pay up— you need to pay me each time you hang out with my baby brother."

Excuse me?
