Chapter 14 - STUPID RUMOR

"THAT'S KOO MUJIN, the son of the chairman of Komet Corporation."

"As in THE Komet Corporation? The parent company of K-Talk?"

"That's a very big company, right?"

"Of course, it is. Everyone in the country uses K-Talk. It's the #1 messaging app in South Korea!"

"And didn't Komet Corporation recently acquire Starry Entertainment? It's called Komet Entertainment now. I know because my favorite soloist is under them!"

"Oh, my. Doesn't it make Komet Corporation a chaebol company, then?"

"Then Koo Mujin is a chaebol? A second-generation chaebol, at that, since his father is the chairman of Komet Corporation."

"We're attending the same school as a chaebol!"

Oh, goodness.

Koo Mujin had a big appetite, and gossips rarely affected it.

But, right now, he couldn't swallow his food while listening to his schoolmates talk while he was having lunch in the cafeteria.

It was a shame because today's menu was lobster tail.

"Lee Haneum, don't listen to them— I'm not a chaebol," Koo Mujin said in a low voice that was only loud enough for Lee Haneum (and Kim Jaehan, sitting next to Lee Haneum) to hear. "Our company is nothing compared to giant conglomerates that belong to chaebol families."

He didn't want to be labeled as a chaebol because he had met chaebol kids in the past, thanks to his father's business.

And most of those chaebol kids are jerks, who are out of touch with reality.

Chaebols lived in a different world.

You can say that they live in their own bubble— they can't relate to commoners like us.

Hence, Koo Mujin felt the strong need to deny that he was a chaebol.

"Why do you feel the need to explain to me?" Lee Haneum complained. "I don't care whether you are a chaebol or not, Koo Mujin."

"Aww," Koo Mujin said, placing his hand over his chest. "I'm touched, Haneum-ah. Does it mean you accept me for who I am and not for what my family is?"

Lee Haneum looked at Koo Mujin in disbelief. "I didn't mean it in that way, idiot."

"Koo Mujin, your positive mindset is quite something," Kim Jaehan said while nodding. "You're so positive that it comes off as you being delusional."

"It's called 'manifesting,' thank you very much, Jaehan-ah," Koo Mujin said, being friendly with Kim Jaehan because that person was Lee Haneum's best friend. "By the way, are you feeling better now? I heard you were sick on the first day of school."

I wonder if Kim Jaehan's sickness started in high school.

"Yes, I'm feeling better now," Kim Jaehan said awkwardly. "Thank you for asking."

"You're welcome," Koo Mujin said, then he picked up the tangerine on his tray and placed it on Kim Jaehan's side of the table. "You can have my tangerine. It's good for your health."

"Uh, thank you."

"You're welcome."

Koo Mujin wanted to take care of Lee Haneum's best friend since— in the real world— Lee Haneum fell into depression after Kim Jaehan got very sick.

And it got worse when Kim Jaehan got pregnant.

Hence, Kim Jaehan almost died while giving birth to his child.

"If you feel sick, tell me…" Koo Mujin trailed off and stopped talking to Kim Jaehan when he noticed that Lee Haneum was looking at him coldly. Lee Haneum's glare sent a shiver down his spine. "Why are you looking at me like that, Haneum-ah? Did I say something wrong?"

Lee Haneum was about to answer, but…

"Jaehan-ah, why do you have two tangerines?"

Hmm?

A familiar kid sat next to Kim Jaehan, acting friendly towards the Omega.

"The lunch ladies only gave me one."

"Yes, the lunch ladies only gave me one as well," Kim Jaehan said, and then he pointed at Koo Mujin. "He gave me his tangerine because I was sick recently."

The new kid faced Koo Mujin and looked at him in the eye.

Wait, I know this smug face.

Han Taesan?

This is the bastard who got Kim Jaehan pregnant and made him suffer…!

"Ah, you're the chaebol kid," Han Taesan said, nodding. "Hello, Young Master. I'm Han Taesan."

Tsk.

Koo Mujin frowned when he confirmed that the kid was, indeed, Han Taesan. "I'm not a chaebol, so don't call me 'young master,'" he said, scoffing. "You're making me lose my appetite with your unfunny joke."

Now tha I denied that I'm a chaebol, I hope the kids stop calling me that.

***

TSK, TSK.

Koo Mujin couldn't help but click his tongue and shake his head while watching Han Taesan follow Kim Jaehan around. "Haneum-ah, you should warn your best friend about that playboy. That Han Taesan kid looks like bad news."

"What is it to you?" Lee Haneum, who was walking beside Koo Mujin, asked in an annoyed tone. "Why do you keep worrying about Kim Jaehan?"

"Well, he's your best friend—"

"Do you like Kim Jaehan?"

"What?"

"Kim Jaehan is a nice person, unlike me. Plus, he's from a good family like you," Lee Haneum said, frowning. No, the Omega actually looked like he was frowning. "So, it makes sense if you find him more attractive than me."

Huh?

Could it be…

Koo Mujin had to cover his mouth with his hand to hide his silly grin. "Are you being jealous right now, Lee Haneum?"
