Chapter 29: What Will This Lead To?
Kaito froze in shock.
Kaito: HOW?!
From behind, Haruto stepped in with a serious expression.
Haruto: I knew something was going on.
Noeh frowned and interrupted.
Noeh: What do you mean you knew? What exactly did you know?
Yue cleared his throat.
Yue: Those strange incidents I told you about before… it's them.
Sora cut in angrily.
Sora: Idiot, we talked about this downstairs! It's just Doctor Mitsuni being his usual unhinged, careless self!
Dr. Mitsuni: WHAAAT?! Why am I the only one who doesn't know about this?!
Everyone covered their faces at once.
Haruto: Ahh… doctor…
Night was slowly giving way to morning. Yue stayed beside Yuki while the others talked downstairs.
Kaito: Yona's been missing for a while now.
Daichi cleared his throat seriously.
Daichi: So… we need to think about what we're going to do next, right?
Sora raised one eyebrow, placed a hand on his waist, and examined the map.
Sora: We know where they went. But it's better not to tell Lady about this yet. It could be misunderstood—especially by Tatsuya.
Kaito spoke with a cold smirk.
Kaito: Hmph… yeah.
Yue sat beside Yuki, reading a book—but only to distract his mind.
Yue: Ugh…
He closed the book.
Yue: What's going to happen now… Ren, San… please be safe.
Yuki's pain had faded. He lay curled up on his left side, sleeping peacefully. Yet Yue could still sense what was in his heart.
A knock echoed at the door.
Yue walked over and opened it. Daichi stood there.
Daichi (quickly): Yue, we're heading out. Don't tell anyone—especially Lady and Tatsuya. You already know about Yona.
Yue nodded, clenching his teeth as he looked down.
Yue: Please… be careful.
Daichi smiled.
Daichi: Don't worry. We will.
In front of the headquarters stood Sora, Kaito, and Haruto. Noeh, Luna, and the others stayed behind to watch over the children.
As Daichi headed toward them, Taro and Mitsuni called out from behind.
Taro: Hey kid, be careful!
Dr. Mitsuni (with his usual unhinged grin): Yes, be careful! And make sure you all come back in one piece!
Daichi nodded and stepped outside.
As he descended the stairs, he realized just how dangerous the task ahead was. He glanced at the trio.
Daichi: Alright… everything's ready.
Haruto smiled.
Haruto: Let's believe they'll be okay.
Sora nodded with a smile. Daichi did the same.
But Kaito didn't look at them. With cold eyes, he watched the wind pass by.
None of them knew how this would end as they walked toward the horse-drawn carriage.
