"The fourth match of the World Martial Arts Tournament is now starting! Competitors Ray Chu and Giran are entering the stage! Let's take a look at these two fighters... Both contestants are unusual fighters possessing powerful tails—but Ray Chu-san lacks a pair of wings! Will this put him at a disadvantage in the upcoming fight? Let's wait and see!"
The announcer energetically hyped the match. After several exciting battles, the atmosphere had become even livelier, with martial arts fans worldwide tuning in through live broadcasts.
On stage, contestant Giran flexed his muscular physique. His appearance resembled a western dragon, with powerful legs and arms, a long agile tail, and broad wings, giving him a fierce look.
"Kid, you'd better surrender. See these big fists of mine? I'd hate to accidentally kill you," Giran taunted Ray Chu after showing off to the crowd.
Ray Chu sighed, adopting an attacking stance.
"Wait… Look, what's this?" Giran clenched his fist, feigning curiosity to lure Ray Chu forward.
"Haha! Fell for it!" Giran's tail suddenly whipped around for a surprise attack, but Ray Chu swiftly dodged as if anticipating it, countering with a powerful Iron Tail strike that knocked Giran dizzy.
Not finished yet, Ray Chu preferred a relentless storm of attacks, leaving opponents no breathing room. Rebounding off the ground with even greater speed, his Double Kick landed squarely on Giran's large belly, sending him flying backward.
"Ahh! Contestant Giran has been knocked into the air! He's going to fall off the stage… Oh! Incredible! Giran-san has suddenly flown upward, narrowly avoiding elimination!"
"That was close!" Giran broke into a cold sweat, nearly losing the match. This kid couldn't be tricked easily; he'd have to use his trump card.
"Take this! [MERRY-GO-ROUND GUM]!" Giran inhaled deeply, then spat out a white gummy ring that shot toward Ray Chu.
Ray Chu narrowed his eyes, flashing away with Quick Attack, easily evading the gummy ring. Giran was stunned—nobody had ever dodged this attack before.
"I'll spit! I'll spit! Spit-spit-spit-spit—!" Giran frantically spat out a barrage of sticky, powerful gum rings, but Ray Chu gracefully dodged every shot, exhausting Giran to the point of collapse.
"I give up…" The gum rings were secretions produced internally, consuming enormous nutrition. Continuous spitting visibly thinned Giran's body. Seeing no hope, he quickly raised a white flag in surrender.
"What an exciting match! The winner is Ray Chu-san!"
Ray Chu's easy victory was highly sensational, especially given his tiny frame defeating the massive Giran, instantly becoming a hot topic among spectators.
"After intense battles, the semifinalists have been decided: Krillin, Jackie Chun, Goku, and Ray Chu! Ah! We can see three of them wearing matching uniforms with the character '龟'—do they belong to the same martial arts school? Let's interview them!"
During the intermission, the announcer approached Goku and the others for comments. Goku scratched his head, grinning, "This is the Turtle School's uniform!"
Krillin proudly placed hands on his hips, declaring, "We're all disciples of Master Roshi!"
"Did you hear that, folks? These three young martial artists are disciples of the legendary martial arts god, Master Roshi! Truly, great masters produce great students!"
On TV, the announcer's excited voice rose sharply, prompting a collective gasp from viewers. Any martial arts fan had heard of Master Roshi—it was no wonder these disciples were so outstanding.
...
Somewhere in a restaurant in South City.
In a busy dining hall, Shu suddenly froze mid-step while carrying dishes, staring dumbly at the TV screen.
"B-boss! It's that villain!"
Lord Pilaf turned sharply to see the culprit responsible for destroying his castle and reducing him to his current pitiful state.
"Curse him! I, Lord Pilaf, swear to get revenge!" Cashier Pilaf slammed his fist on the table, visibly enraged.
Suddenly, a huge shadow loomed over the pair, roaring angrily, "You slackers! Get back to work now, or I'll dock your pay!"
"Yes, yes, yes… Please don't dock our pay…"
At the same moment, in the Crane School dojo far away in North City, an elderly man wearing robes emblazoned with the character "鹤" (Crane) crushed an iron ball in his hand, grinding it into powder that scattered on the floor.
"That damned turtle geezer! Always showing off! I, the Crane Hermit, swear I'll beat you someday!" The Crane Hermit's mustache twitched furiously in anger.
"Master, there's no need for anger," came a calm voice as a young man approached. Most striking was the third eye in the center of his forehead, alongside a small, white-faced child floating next to him.
"Tien Shinhan, Chiaotzu, you're back," the Crane Hermit greeted happily upon seeing his two prized pupils. "How did it go? Was everything smooth?"
Tien Shinhan sneered, tossing down a stack of cash. "Those weaklings surrendered this year's protection money without me even lifting a finger. Chiaotzu handled them all easily."
"Excellent!" The Crane Hermit slapped Tien Shinhan's shoulder with satisfaction. "Our Crane School will flourish thanks to talents like you. Once you defeat Roshi's pupils at the next Martial Arts Tournament, everyone in the world will know the greatness of the Crane School. We'll attract even more money and disciples!"
"Don't worry, Master. I'll defeat those pathetic Turtle School fighters and show the world that I, Tien Shinhan, am the greatest martial artist!" Tien confidently crossed his arms, basking in his master's pride and Chiaotzu's admiration.
...
"Achoo!" Jackie Chun suddenly sneezed violently. "Who's thinking of me now? Could it be some lovely young lady?"
Clang!
Just then, the bell rang for the next match.
"My turn already?" Jackie Chun calmly leaped onto the ring, hands behind his back, facing a nervous-looking Krillin.
As soon as the match began, Krillin quickly dashed behind Jackie Chun, launching a sneak attack with a flying kick.
"Heh!" Jackie Chun, without even turning his head, flipped backward and knocked Krillin into the wall with a knee strike.
"Ouch… That really hurt!" Krillin rubbed his smooth bald head, a bruise already forming.
"You'd better surrender early. You're no match for me."
"I won't lose!" Krillin shouted defiantly, unleashing a fierce barrage of punches and kicks that blurred into countless afterimages. Jackie Chun chuckled and retaliated with equal speed. The two fighters moved so fast the spectators struggled to see clearly.
"Hah!"
Another violent exchange sent both flying backward. Krillin desperately rubbed his aching body, tongue out, eyes spinning in pain.
"Brat, you're pretty good." To exchange so many blows with him, Krillin clearly trained hard. But Jackie Chun had decided to end things seriously now.
"Take this!"
Jackie Chun instantly vanished, reappearing directly before Krillin. Startled, Krillin punched reflexively—only to strike empty air, Jackie Chun's afterimage fading.
"You fell for it." The real Jackie Chun appeared behind Krillin, chopping sharply at his neck. Krillin staggered forward two steps before collapsing unconscious onto the ring floor.
