Chapter 36 - Chapter 36 Black Dragon List Third

Not long after, the two returned to their residence in Jiangnan Pavilion.

Shi Jiang immediately submitted a challenge application through the elite training camp's network system.

Once Jiang Yan clicked Confirm, he transferred the one billion Shi Jiang had provided into the challenge system's designated account.

"Drop!"

Almost instantly, a notification email arrived.

Jiang Yan opened it.

The challenge had been scheduled for 15:29 that afternoon.

Clearly, there were few students remaining in the camp during the holiday period, and even fewer using the challenge rooms. As a result, the system arranged their match on the very same day.

"Dear, why would Senior Brother Shi Jiang suddenly challenge you?"

When Janet found out, she was visibly shocked.

Shi Jiang had been firmly entrenched in the top five of the Black Dragon List for years.

According to Jiang Fang, Shi Jiang's combat power had already reached the mid-level God of War, even surpassing several God of War–level instructors in the elite training camp.

Yet he had taken the initiative to challenge Jiang Yan.

"Probably got stimulated by something," Jiang Yan said with a smile.

"Are you sure?" Janet asked worriedly. "Senior Brother Shi Jiang's movement technique has already reached the Artistic Conception level."

In the elite training camp, only a handful of students had reached that realm—and Shi Jiang, a long-standing top-five powerhouse on the Black Dragon List, was one of them.

Jiang Yan narrowed his eyes slightly.

"What about his weapon realm?"

Janet answered promptly, "Senior Brother Shi Jiang uses a battle saber. His weapon realm has reached the third realm—the Realm of Perfection."

She knew this from Zhao Ruo, another disciple of Jiang Fang who lived in Jiangnan Pavilion and was well-informed about Shi Jiang.

"Hm…"

Jiang Yan thought quickly.

"His movement technique is at the Artistic Conception level. Mine is at the Perfection level, but his is still stronger."

"His saber is perfected, and my spear is perfected—so we're equal in weapon realm."

"On paper, I should be at a disadvantage."

But then, his gaze sharpened.

"There's one decisive factor…"

Combat power amplification.

"My amplification is higher."

"His physical foundation is stronger than mine, but his punching power hasn't reached high-level God of War standards. That means his force technique should be just over 3×, while mine is over 4×."

"In that case…"

"Who wins isn't certain."

"But overall—my odds are higher."

In the challenge room, physical attributes would be completely equalized.

Although Shi Jiang's movement technique was stronger, Jiang Yan's own movement technique had progressed to 92% of the Perfection stage—only a hair's breadth away from Artistic Conception.

The gap between them wasn't large.

On the other hand, Jiang Yan's force technique was significantly stronger.

And more importantly—

He had the system.

His foundation was incomparably solid, something Shi Jiang could never replicate.

"Then I believe you'll win, Senior Brother Shi Jiang included," Janet said, nodding firmly.

Her trust in Jiang Yan was absolute.

Outside the challenge room, Jiang Yan might not stand a chance—Shi Jiang's God of War–level physique alone would crush him.

But inside the challenge room, where physiques were equalized?

Victory was far from guaranteed—for either side.

"By the way," Jiang Yan added casually, "I didn't tell you earlier. I spent half an hour in the gravity chamber."

"The results exceeded my expectations."

"My physical fitness has already reached God of War level."

"What?!"

Janet's eyes widened in shock.

"Dear… you've already reached God of War physique?"

"Yes," Jiang Yan nodded. "And if I spend more time in the gravity chamber, I might even break through to mid-level God of War."

If his luck held and the system's critical amplification triggered again, that outcome was entirely possible.

"Oh my God…" Janet's voice trembled with excitement. "If that happens, once the elite training camp officially begins in March…"

"I'm afraid you'll directly charge to first place on the Black Dragon List within a single month—just like the instructor said!"

"First place?" Jiang Yan chuckled softly.

A sharp glint flashed in his eyes.

"I intend to take it."

Soon after, the scheduled time arrived.

Jiang Yan and Janet headed to the ninth floor of the Nine-Story Building.

Shi Jiang was already waiting.

Aside from him, there was only one other student present, standing quietly in front of the gravity chamber.

During the holiday period, very few students remained in the camp.

The two-month holiday existed so that students could advance their March training quota. If those who stayed monopolized the gravity and trial rooms, it would be grossly unfair to those who went home.

It would also defeat the camp's intention of giving students proper rest—otherwise, no one would ever leave during holidays.

"Jiang Yan, you're here," Shi Jiang said with a smile.

Jiang Yan and Janet nodded in response.

At that moment, the student by the gravity chamber turned his head.

He glanced at Jiang Yan and Janet, then looked away indifferently.

"Shi Jiang. Jiang Yan."

"Please enter the challenge room."

An electronic voice echoed through the ninth-floor hall.

The announcement startled the student by the gravity chamber.

He turned back sharply, eyes narrowing.

"Hey," he sneered, looking at Shi Jiang. "You—someone who's been firmly in the top five of the Black Dragon List—are actually challenging a newcomer who hasn't even officially entered the camp yet?"

From the order of the names, he immediately understood that Shi Jiang was the challenger.

It sounded absurd.

Was Shi Jiang really bullying a rookie?

Jiang Yan glanced at the man.

In the elite training camp, there weren't many people who dared speak to Shi Jiang like that.

Janet lowered her voice and explained, "That's Eben Paz. He's ranked third on the Black Dragon List and belongs to the American faction."

"So that's him," Jiang Yan nodded.

No wonder.

Seeing Shi Jiang ignore him completely, Eben Paz's expression darkened.

Shi Jiang didn't spare him a glance. He only looked at Jiang Yan.

"Let's go," Shi Jiang said calmly. "Into the challenge room."
