Chapter 42 – The Basics of Spiritual Thoughts
"Master—how could I possibly have an opinion?!"
Wang Yu was startled and waved his hands repeatedly.
What kind of joke was this?
Though he was one of the five Global Inspectors of the Extreme Martial Arts Museum—someone who normally shared authority over the world's largest martial organization—this was only because Hong rarely involved himself in mundane affairs.
The moment Hong chose to act personally, none of the five inspectors would dare raise even the slightest objection.
Of course, under normal circumstances, Hong never interfered.
The five inspectors handled matters efficiently, and Hong had no interest in wasting precious time on administration.
Hong sat quietly on the futon, no longer speaking.
At that moment, Jiang Yan had already arrived at Wang Yu's secluded villa with Jiang Fang.
In the villa courtyard, three women sat around a mahjong table.
When they spotted Jiang Fang, one of them laughed and waved.
"Xiao Jiang! You're finally here—come on, we're just missing one player!"
Her gaze shifted to Jiang Yan and she smiled.
"Old Wang is waiting for you in the living room upstairs. Go on up."
Jiang Yan nodded politely and headed toward the second floor.
As he entered the villa, the woman laughed again at Jiang Fang.
"Don't just stand there—come play!"
"…Alright."
Jiang Fang smiled and joined them.
As Jiang Yan reached the second floor, the faint fragrance of tea drifted toward him.
Following the scent, he stopped outside the living room.
"Come in."
A slightly hoarse voice sounded from within.
Jiang Yan stepped inside.
Hong, dressed in black, sat calmly in the main seat.
Wang Yu sat to his left.
Two steaming cups of tea rested on the table.
The moment Jiang Yan met Hong's gaze—
His vision blurred.
The world darkened abruptly.
In that boundless darkness, only one figure remained.
Hong.
Standing between heaven and earth, supreme and solitary.
Jiang Yan felt his soul tremble involuntarily.
"Hng!"
The darkness receded like a tide.
Reality returned.
Hong still looked at him calmly, as if nothing had happened.
Jiang Yan took a deep breath.
So this was the world's strongest human.
"Sit."
Hong pointed to the futon on the right.
Jiang Yan walked over and sat down obediently.
Wang Yu studied Jiang Yan intently.
This young man—who had not even officially joined the camp yet—was already about to stand on equal footing with him.
The sixth Global Inspector.
"At such a young age," Hong said slowly,
"your physical fitness has already reached the level of a high-level God of War."
His gaze was undisguisedly appreciative.
The moment Jiang Yan entered, Hong's wisdom-assisted system had already scanned him.
In the virtual space, Jiang Yan's body was restricted to the level of a junior general—only techniques and power could be measured.
His true physique, however, could not be concealed from Hong.
Wang Yu continued observing silently, trying to see through Jiang Yan entirely.
Jiang Yan merely smiled, saying nothing.
"What is your current limit strength and speed?" Hong asked again.
"Have you tested them?"
Hong could test it himself—but not here.
A high-level God of War going all-out would reduce this villa to rubble.
"My maximum punching force is about 163 tons," Jiang Yan replied,
"and my peak speed is close to 3,900 meters per second."
This data came from the test earlier that day in Jiang Fang's underground training room.
"Hm?!"
Hong's eyes widened slightly.
"Did you say—3,900 meters per second?"
Even Wang Yu was stunned.
That number was absurd.
"If the instruments weren't inaccurate," Jiang Yan said honestly,
"then it should be around that."
"Come with me."
Hong stood up instantly.
Before Jiang Yan could react, he felt himself lifted into the air.
"Whoosh—!"
Wind howled past his ears.
After barely ten breaths, a colossal structure tens of thousands of meters long appeared before them—
like a gigantic spacecraft suspended in space.
"This," Jiang Yan thought in awe,
"is the true global headquarters of the Extreme Martial Arts Museum."
Soon, Hong brought him into a vast cultivation chamber.
After personally testing Jiang Yan's strength and speed, the results matched his report almost exactly.
Hong's expression became profoundly complex.
"Jiang Yan," he said slowly,
"your current speed ranks third in the world."
"Only Thor and I are faster."
A high-level God of War—
faster than most planetary-level experts.
It was simply unbelievable.
"Third… already?" Jiang Yan was genuinely surprised.
Before he could think further, two contracts appeared in Hong's hand as if from thin air.
"Take a look."
Jiang Yan's eyes flickered with envy.
Spatial storage.
He wanted one badly.
"Global Inspector of the Extreme Martial Arts Museum?"
His heart skipped a beat.
One contract was his official recruitment.
The other—his Global Inspector appointment.
"Master," Jiang Yan hesitated,
"I still wish to remain in the elite training camp for now. The gravity chambers there are extremely beneficial to my cultivation."
Once he became a Global Inspector, responsibilities would follow—
and staying in the camp might no longer be possible.
"Then stay," Hong replied calmly.
"When you leave the elite training camp, we will publicly announce your status and hold the induction ceremony."
"I don't need you to shoulder responsibilities yet."
His gaze turned distant.
"The enemies of humanity are not monsters… but forces beyond Earth."
Hong had seen too much through ancient civilization inheritances.
A stellar-level expert could protect Earth.
And Jiang Yan—
Was a seed with that potential.
"Then I have no objections."
Jiang Yan no longer hesitated.
He picked up the brush and signed his name.
Hong kept two copies and handed the rest to Jiang Yan.
Looking up, Jiang Yan asked expectantly:
"Master, the contract states I can choose a full set of three secret manuals…
Do I get to decide which ones?"
"Yes."
Hong nodded.
"Name them now. I can give them to you immediately."
Without hesitation, Jiang Yan spoke:
"I want the Foundations of Spiritual Thoughts."
