While the two Porygon were traveling through the digital world, Oliver casually chatted with Su Lu beside him.
"Is there anything special required to raise Porygon?"
Su Lu had a bright, easygoing personality. Since Oliver already knew about Porygon's existence, he answered openly.
"Not really. Porygon is usually pretty dull and doesn't like moving much. It doesn't even need to eat to survive. The only thing is that untrained Porygon can sneak into computers and escape through the network, so the places where they're kept are completely offline."
"That sounds… troublesome."
"It is. Sometimes they hide inside a specific computer and refuse to come out. Finding them can take a lot of time."
"Does the Alliance have many trained Porygon by now?"
Su Lu scratched his head awkwardly and smiled.
"Training them is extremely difficult. In more than ten years, the Alliance has only managed to raise a little over a dozen. Other countries have even fewer."
"Is training them really that hard?" Oliver asked. In truth, he wanted to raise a Porygon himself—the ability to turn into data was simply too overpowered.
"Yes. You have to train them regularly in the real world, and at the same time feed them different programs in cyberspace. Only when they recognize you emotionally and logically will they truly obey."
At that moment, the two Porygon finished their work and returned to Oliver's computer.
A hidden connection had been successfully established with the target computer, allowing Oliver to freely browse its contents.
Oliver and Su Lu exchanged a glance and immediately began searching through the data using Porygon's abilities.
Before long, they found the two files in question.
Oliver opened them—and just as he expected, the creation dates were all after his paper had already been published.
However, Porygon didn't stop there.
More and more information was uncovered, and Oliver soon realized that this professor's crimes went far beyond smearing his reputation.
The man had taken bribes totaling over ten million Alliance credits by cheating during postgraduate entrance examinations—and he had meticulously recorded every transaction on his computer.
Worse still, he had sexually assaulted a female graduate student and later threatened her with delayed graduation if she dared report him.
To satisfy his twisted urges, he had even recorded the entire process. Those files were now all exposed on the screen.
Su Lu's face darkened with rage when he saw this. He practically wanted to expose the professor online immediately.
"What a beast. Lower than an animal."
Oliver, however, only frowned slightly.
While this evidence was more than enough to destroy the professor and silence the rumors about himself, there was still one thing Oliver needed to find.
The professor could never have imagined that a Pokémon like Porygon existed.
Even though his computer had extremely strong security measures, they were meaningless in front of Porygon.
Finally, a chat record appeared.
Oliver's eyes narrowed.
"Stop."
This was it.
On the screen was a conversation between the professor and someone named Lin Quan.
The messages clearly showed that Lin Quan had approached the professor first. The entire online smear campaign against Oliver had been orchestrated by Lin Quan from behind the scenes.
The professor was merely a convenient accomplice.
He already resented Oliver—angry that someone so young could achieve fame and recognition, while he himself had struggled for decades with little to show for it.
Add to that Lin Quan's promise of ten million Alliance credits after the job was done, and the two quickly reached an agreement.
Their plan matched Oliver's earlier speculation perfectly.
They never intended to strip Oliver of his official achievements. Instead, they aimed to implant the image of "academic fraud" in the public's mind.
Once that label stuck, every paper Oliver published in the future would be questioned and attacked.
If successful, it would cause him endless trouble.
After downloading all the incriminating evidence, Oliver instructed Porygon to return to its normal form.
"That's enough, Brother Su Lu."
Su Lu was still furious.
"People like this should have been arrested long ago. Don't worry—I'll find a way to report all this to the higher-ups."
"Thanks. I appreciate it."
Su Lu recalled both Porygon into their Poké Balls and left.
After watching him go, Oliver immediately called He Sheng.
"Uncle He, I've basically finished here. I need your help investigating one more person."
"You kid, why are you being polite with me? Just say it."
"His name is Lin Quan. Lin as in forest, Quan as in authority."
He Sheng fell silent for a moment.
"That name sounds familiar… Ah, right. He should be the head of the Lin family in Lake City."
"Lake City… the Lin family." Oliver muttered softly.
"I shouldn't have any connection with them at all."
