The next day, Oliver arrived at school.
After a full day of fermentation, the incident had spread even further. Students from most schools now knew about the claim that Oliver's paper was allegedly plagiarized.
On the way to the classroom, every student he passed looked at him strangely.
Some whispered to the people beside them:
"So Oliver turned out to be that kind of person."
"You never really know someone. Maybe his Milotic paper was plagiarized too."
Oliver didn't explain anything. Just like always, he walked calmly into the classroom.
Most ordinary people, guided by online trolls, lacked the ability to judge right from wrong. They couldn't even think about why Professor Hu had never provided the dates of his experiments.
But as soon as Oliver entered the classroom, he saw a crowd gathered in the back, noisy and chaotic.
Curious, he walked over.
"Shuyun, stop it!"
"If you keep going, this will get serious!"
Hearing Jiang Shuyun's name, Oliver immediately quickened his pace and pushed into the crowd.
Several girls were desperately holding Jiang Shuyun back, preventing her from moving forward. On the ground in front of her sat a boy with badly bruised eyes, his face almost unrecognizable.
"What happened?" Oliver asked.
At the sound of his voice, everyone turned to look at him.
Jiang Shuyun broke free from the girls restraining her, lowered her head, and said,
"Oliver, Sun Yan came to class this morning and kept saying you have no academic integrity, that all your past papers were plagiarized. I couldn't hold back and hit him."
Sun Yan was the class monitor who had always disliked Oliver. Given how badly he was beaten, it was no wonder Oliver hadn't recognized him at first.
Oliver immediately understood what had happened.
Sun Yan had always been unhappy with Oliver, but after Oliver displayed astonishing research talent, he hadn't dared stir up trouble. Yesterday, after seeing the online accusations, he hadn't thought twice and simply accepted them as truth.
This morning, he rushed to school and spread the rumors everywhere, even exaggerating them—claiming that Oliver's Milotic paper and all his previous achievements were fake.
Unfortunately for him, Jiang Shuyun heard everything.
She confronted him, but knowing she and Oliver were close, Sun Yan deliberately insulted Oliver even more to provoke her.
Jiang Shuyun snapped.
Sun Yan thought, I'm a grown man—why would I be afraid of a girl? So he became even more arrogant.
What he didn't realize was how strong Jiang Shuyun actually was.
As expected, after just a few exchanges, Sun Yan couldn't even fight back. Only his screams attracted other students, who finally stopped the situation.
"You're not hurt, right?" Oliver asked.
Hearing that Oliver was worried about her first, Jiang Shuyun smiled.
"He didn't even touch me once. How could a weakling like him beat me?"
"That's good," Oliver nodded. "Alright, everyone, disperse. There's nothing more to see."
The surrounding students exchanged looks, unsure what to do. After all, the one who got beaten hadn't even spoken yet.
But Oliver and Jiang Shuyun were already heading back to their seats. Sun Yan wasn't popular in class anyway, so after a moment of hesitation, everyone slowly returned to their places.
Sun Yan was left sitting on the floor alone, watching everyone walk away. A deep sense of abandonment washed over him.
Anger surged in his chest.
Your plagiarism has already been exposed—how can you still act so superior?!
"Oliver, you're just an academic fraud! All your achievements were plag—"
Before he could finish, Jiang Shuyun turned around and stared at him coldly.
Remembering the terrifying strength she had shown earlier, Sun Yan swallowed hard and forced the rest of his words back down. Then he scrambled up and fled the classroom.
Of course, he didn't go to report it to a teacher. A senior student about to graduate complaining that he was beaten by a girl would be humiliating.
Instead, he headed to the infirmary to check his injuries.
"There's no need to get angry over people like that," Oliver said softly.
"I've already found a way to resolve this."
"Really?" Jiang Shuyun asked, half-doubting.
But thinking about how nothing had ever truly stumped Oliver before, she decided to trust him.
After school that day, Oliver didn't go to the team training room. Instead, he went straight home to wait for the Alliance to deliver the Poké Ball.
Not long after, the doorbell rang.
A man around twenty-seven or twenty-eight stood outside.
"Hello, my name is Su Lu. I'm responsible for raising Porygon. I'll be supervising the entire process while you're borrowing it."
Dressed neatly, hair perfectly combed, Su Lu didn't look like a mere caretaker at all.
Given Porygon's nature, research was inevitably involved in its maintenance. This man was clearly a researcher—and an exceptional one in the field of Porygon.
Oliver nodded. "No problem. Let's begin."
Inside Oliver's room, Su Lu took out two Poké Balls and handed one to Oliver.
"You can temporarily command this Porygon. The one I'm holding will stay with it the entire time to supervise."
Oliver released the Pokémon.
A blocky, artificial-looking creature appeared—assembled like building bricks, looking rather dull and not very dragon-like at all.
Since Professor Hu refused to provide the crucial timestamp evidence, Oliver would retrieve it himself.
At Oliver's command, Porygon's body softened like liquid and flowed straight into the computer. Su Lu's Porygon followed immediately after.
On the monitor, the figures of two Porygon appeared.
Even Oliver couldn't help but marvel at the sight.
Porygon might not be powerful in combat, but this unique ability was truly astonishing.
