Chapter 49 - Gardevoir’s Mega Stone

The next day, Tian Xin personally saw Oliver off at the high-speed rail station, sending him back to Rong City.

"Goodbye, Oliver! If you get the chance, you must come back to Chang'an again!" she waved enthusiastically.

"Don't worry, I will," Oliver replied with a smile.

After all, Celebi's knot of guilt was still tied to this place. Sooner or later, he would definitely return.

The return trip went smoothly without any incidents, and Oliver soon arrived back in Rong City.

His first stop wasn't home—but the Green Forest Secret Realm.

One, to tell Celebi that he had successfully completed its request.

Two, to ask whether there was any way to restore the strength of the Celebi he had brought with him.

After entering the Green Forest Secret Realm, Oliver released Celebi from its Poké Ball.

"Bi~ So this is the small space where my kin lives?"

Celebi floated in the air, sniffing around curiously, as if trying to catch the scent of another Celebi.

Suddenly, Oliver and Celebi felt a wave of dizziness.

When they opened their eyes again, they had already arrived near the familiar lakeside where Celebi resided.

"It was me who teleported you here."

Another Celebi flew out from the distance, looking at Oliver with a complicated expression.

"I truly didn't expect this outcome."

And honestly—how could it not be surprising?

It had only asked him to go help…

Yet Oliver came back not only having resolved the crisis, but also having taken one Celebi with him!

Oliver quickly defended himself.

"Hey, this wasn't my idea! It was the one who insisted on following me."

Oliver's Celebi flew up proudly.

"That's right! I chose him myself!"

The Green Forest Celebi stared at it with a look of utter disappointment, as if saying:

How did our Celebi clan end up producing someone this shameless…

Oliver coughed lightly and quickly changed the topic.

"We actually came to ask if there's any way to restore its strength."

The Green Forest Celebi closed its eyes and used psychic perception to carefully examine Oliver's Celebi.

After a long while, it opened its eyes again.

"…It's far worse than I imagined. Honestly, the fact that it's even alive is already a miracle."

"There's no shortcut. The only way is to slowly absorb energy and recover bit by bit."

Oliver's Celebi had clearly expected this answer and shrugged it off indifferently.

"That's fine. It just means I get to eat more delicious food."

As it spoke, it casually pulled out a top-tier energy cube and took a big bite.

Worth mentioning—over the past two days, Celebi had already fully absorbed the Ultra-Concentrated Energy Crystal Oliver obtained from the system, and its level had reached High Rank – Early Stage.

The Green Forest Celebi looked at its carefree kin and sighed helplessly, then turned to Oliver.

"…In that case, I'll leave it to you."

After all, Celebi were already rare enough. It couldn't really abandon one of its own.

After some thought, the Green Forest Celebi took out a strange, round stone. Inside it, twisted patterns of emerald green and pale white intertwined.

"This is—a Mega Evolution Stone?!"

Oliver recognized it instantly.

The Green Forest Celebi glanced at him in surprise.

"That's right. I just happen to have a Gardevoir Mega Stone. Consider it payment for taking care of this troublesome kin of mine."

An unexpected windfall.

Oliver didn't hesitate and accepted it immediately.

Item: Gardevoir Mega Stone

Description: When used together with a Key Stone, it allows Gardevoir to Mega Evolve into Mega Gardevoir.

After bidding farewell to the Green Forest Celebi, Oliver left the secret realm and headed straight home.

Once back, he prepared energy cubes for all three Pokémon, then immediately threw himself into preparing the Fairy-type research paper.

The appearance of a brand-new Pokémon type would undoubtedly cause an earthquake in the academic world.

And that also meant the amount of groundwork Oliver needed to prepare was enormous.

Type effectiveness relationships.

Concrete evidence of the Fairy-type's existence.

Pokémon and moves belonging to the new type…

Fortunately, Oliver only planned to prove that the Fairy-type existed. He didn't need to fully map out everything—that work could be left to other researchers.

Even so, the data analysis and arguments were still exhausting.

He worked straight through until dinnertime, only coming out of his room when his mother called him.

Oliver released all three Pokémon and prepared food for them.

"Huh? Is this a new Pokémon you caught? I don't think I've seen it before."

Celebi's cute appearance instantly melted Oliver's mother's heart, and she couldn't resist reaching out to gently rub its head.

Oliver said casually, "Yeah, I caught it on this trip. It's called Celebi. It's pretty rare, so it's normal you haven't seen one before."

"Bi~"

Celebi cooperated obediently, acting just like an unusually rare Pokémon.

After a series of perfectly natural explanations, Oliver's mother accepted it without suspicion.

Celebi then sent a voice directly into Oliver's mind.

"When are we going out to play? I don't want to stay in this house all day."

That was a problem.

If Celebi went out, it would definitely attract attention. But suppressing its playful nature wasn't realistic either.

Oliver's eyes lit up as an idea struck him.

He pulled Celebi aside and whispered,

"The world outside isn't like what you imagine anymore. You don't even need to go outside to see the whole world now."

Celebi blinked. "How can you see things that don't even exist in the world?"

Oliver pointed at the TV.

"This thing can show events happening all over the world."

Celebi stared at the screen suspiciously.

"This big black glass is that amazing?"

"Not just that," Oliver continued. "This one's even more convenient."

He then introduced Celebi to phones, computers, and game consoles, and even demonstrated a mobile game himself.

Celebi's eyes widened, completely captivated.

After one match, Oliver put the phone down.

"See? Fun, right? And there are even better games on the computer."

Celebi nodded furiously.

Even phone games are this fun… computers must be incredible!

Leaving the secret realm really was the right choice!

"Here, you can play with my phone for now. Tomorrow I'll buy you your own."

Since Celebi was an ancient Pokémon, it didn't need training like normal Pokémon—its growth came purely from absorbing energy.

By the time dinner was ready, it was still glued to the phone.

During the meal, Oliver's mother casually mentioned,

"Oh right, while you were gone, a new neighbor moved in next door. They even brought gifts to greet everyone. When you have time, you should return the courtesy."

"Got it," Oliver replied casually.

Maintaining good relations with neighbors was important, especially since they had already taken the initiative.

"Oh, and their surname is Mu. Don't mix it up."

"Got it!"
