Argus spent two days in the school clinic.
Many young wizards came to visit during that time.
The Slytherins, Ginny, and Hermione were the most diligent!
Hermione, in particular, seemed more focused on delivering notes to Argus than simply visiting him.
To allow him to experience authentic teaching, she even used an automatic recording quill to capture every word the professors said in class.
Lucius and Fudge also came once.
They arrived as representatives of a pure-blood family and the Ministry of Magic.
When Fudge showed up, he appeared eager to ask something, but since he had brought a large entourage, he ultimately held his tongue
Lucius didn't say much; he simply came to visit.
Argus noticed, however, that the house-elf beside Lucius had changed!
Dobby, who had originally possessed a sharp, straight nose, now sported a large one, looked older, and treated Lucius with greater deference.
"Given Lucius's methods, once he's sure the people around him are safe, he'll naturally set his sights on Dobby."
"Even without evidence, I won't leave myself any hidden dangers."
A house-elf that had been abandoned, especially a pure-blooded one like Dobby who served as the personal house-elf to the head of one of the Sacred Twenty-Eight, was bound to face an unpredictable fate.
There was no other choice but death!
However, this was his own doing. As a servant, he had been disloyal to his master and instead turned fickle.
While the master wasn't looking, he had secretly helped the master's enemy.
He deserved to die!
Compared to Dobby's uncertain fate, the students at Hogwarts were living quite comfortably.
With the issue of the Slytherin heir resolved, the crisis at Hogwarts was officially averted.
The young wizards regained their former joy.
The only difference was that Dumbledore hadn't appeared at the school for a long time.
Professor McGonagall had been temporarily in charge of Hogwarts' affairs for the past few days.
A few days later, Argus left the school infirmary after repeated reminders from Madam Pomfrey.
As soon as he entered the Great Hall of Hogwarts Castle, he was greeted by the eager gazes of all the Hogwarts members, including Professor McGonagall.
"Mr. Grindelwald, welcome back."
"Thank you for your care, Professor McGonagall." Argus bowed and then gave a slight nod to the Hogwarts students.
"Thank you all for your concern."
"Are you alright now?" Professor McGonagall asked with concern.
"It's nothing. I recovered almost completely a couple of days ago, but Madam Pomfrey wanted me to stay under observation for a few more days."
"That's good. During the time you were away, the little wizards in Slytherin asked me about you several times a day."
Professor McGonagall was quite exhausted by this matter.
But now that Dumbledore was not here, Snape spent almost all his time in his office except when he was teaching, and he did not allow anyone to come in or out.
These responsibilities could only fall on her shoulders.
"Final exams are coming up soon. If Mr. Grindelwald needs extra lessons, he can ask Miss Granger for help."
"I think she would be happy to help."
"Yes, Professor McGonagall," Argus replied with a smile.
He smiled and looked at Hermione at the Ravenclaw table.
The future Minister of Magic was staring intently at Argus when their eyes met, and her pretty face immediately turned red.
As if her thoughts had been read, she quickly turned her head away from looking at Argus.
...
That afternoon.
With Madam Sprout's mandrake cultivation complete, Mrs. Norris, who had been petrified, and the other Hogwarts members officially returned.
At dinner, the entire Hogwarts became a sea of joy.
Colin, Justin, and the others who had been petrified cheered excitedly upon seeing Argus's arrival.
"Argus, you actually killed that terrible monster! You saved us!"
"Idol! From today onwards, you are my idol!"
Not far away, Filch, with tears streaming down his face, carried Mrs. Norris to Argus.
"Mr. Grindelwald, thank you for your help!"
"If you hadn't saved Mrs. Norris, I really wouldn't have known... I really wouldn't have known..."
Filch cried his eyes out.
Not a single wizard showed him any mockery.
Mrs. Norris held a place in Filch's heart that nothing else could compare to.
It was practically his only source of emotional support while living at Hogwarts.
Argus showed no sign of disgust, and with a faint smile, he helped Filch straighten his hunched back.
"Mr. Filch, you should thank Professor Sprout for this."
"It was the mandrake she cultivated that saved Mrs. Norris."
The excited young wizards didn't care about any of that; all they knew was that Argus had single-handedly discovered the Chamber of Secrets, which Slytherin had kept hidden for years, and had also dealt with the basilisk they had long feared.
He was the hero who saved Hogwarts!
A large group of people surrounded him, chattering amongst themselves.
Professor McGonagall's long-suppressed emotions were finally released, and even though the castle hall was in complete chaos, she did not say anything t stop it.
Instead of the final exams later, letting the young wizards relax a little now might be a good choice.
Everyone was immersed in the joy of defeating the monster, but Argus noticed a head of flowing red hair quietly leaving the Gryffindor table.
...
Ginny walked to the lakeside alone.
The cool night breeze cleared her head a bit.
Since learning that Ron and Harry had been struck by the Memory Charm, and that Argus had been injured while fighting the basilisk,
her inner self-blame never ceased.
The intense guilt brought her to the brink of collapse!
She asked herself more than once: what if she hadn't used that strange diary, what if she hadn't carelessly thrown it away, but instead had voluntarily handed it over to an Auror or to someone at Hogwarts.
Wouldn't all of this have been prevented?
"Why are you standing here alone in the wind?"
A familiar voice came from behind, startling Ginny so much that she lost her balance.
Suddenly, her body tumbled toward the lake!
"Impedimenta!"
A binding spell pulled Ginny back from the brink of falling.
The warmth of his hand made her cheeks flush.
After pulling Ginny back from the lake, Argus released her from the spell's restraints.
He joked, "I don't think I look that scary, do I?"
"It almost scared you so much that you jumped into the lake."
A few words made Ginny blush even more, her face turning almost the same color as her hair.
"Why are you here by the lake alone so late at night? Is something on your mind?"
As Argus spoke, a faint blue glint flashed in his eyes.
Legilimency quietly entered Ginny's mind.
His Legilimency level was not high, and he could not read other people's thoughts like Voldemort or Snape.
He could only perceive the other party's emotions and intentions in a simple way.
But that was enough to deal with a little witch who was full of worries!
The gentle tone and the smile on his lips made Ginny feel even more guilty.
Thinking of the mistakes she had made in the past, her eyes welled up with tears.
She sniffed and looked at Argus.
"Mr. Grindelwald…"
"I already told you, just call me Argus."
"Argus…I…I did something wrong, a terrible mistake."
