Chapter 160 - [160] Fudge's Fury! The Hero's Triumphant Return

"Minister, I don't think Dumbledore is very likely."

Alan Mitchell shook his head.

"If Dumbledore or any other professor had been present, Lockhart would not have had the opportunity to launch a sneak attack."

This statement plunged Fudge into confusion once again.

If it weren't for Hogwarts professors and Dumbledore, who else could have entered the Chamber of Secrets in Slytherin?

And why should they help the students of Hogwarts fight the basilisk?

It couldn't be that Lockhart himself was so bored that he let the basilisk gouge out his eyes, could it?

"And there's something even more important, Minister," Alan Mitchell said with a feigned sigh.

"Whether they are professors at Hogwarts or not, these conclusions are just speculation."

"There is absolutely no substantial evidence."

"We cannot tell the British wizards that Hogwarts orchestrated this in secret just because of the wound on the basilisk's eye."

"No! Investigate! They're treating us like fools! Do they really think we can't find evidence?" Fudge roared, his face red and his neck thick.

In Fudge's view, the whole thing was a conspiracy by Dumbledore.

They were trying to expel the Aurors from Hogwarts!

It was a way of implying to himself the incompetence of the Aurors, that even if he sent Aurors to Hogwarts, Hogwarts would still be under his control.

If he wanted to, Aurors would be nothing more than decorations at Hogarts!

If Argus hadn't secretly passed on the information to him, he probably would have really believed that everything that happened in the secret room was as Professor McGonagall had said.

"Minister, it will be very difficult to find out what happened at Hogwarts last night," Alan Mitchell said, once again pouring cold water on Fudge's hopes.

"A whole night has passed, and Hogwarts must have cleared up all the relevant evidence."

"Judging from Mr. Grindelwald's experience, Hogwarts is ready."

"We're afraid..."

Alan Mitchell's words, seemingly meant to dissuade, actually added fuel to the fire.

Fudge, who was already in a state of frenzy, turned even more pale and then flushed.

"Dumbledore is provoking the Ministry of Magic! He's treating us like fools!"

"If you don't have evidence, then produce some!"

"The Ministry of Magic must not easily admit defeat to Hogwarts!"

...

That day.

Rita Skeeter, the top writer for The Daily Prophet and a leading hater of Dumbledore, published the events of last night at Hogwarts on the front page!

As a report about her own boss, Rita Skeeter used almost every word of praise she had ever heard in her life to describe it.

In her report, Argus was practically Merlin reincarnated.

The investigation uncovered the Slytherin heir hidden among the Hogwarts professors.

Protecting his classmates and killing the snake monster.

Ultimately, the Slytherin heir died at the hands of the basilisk!

His age of twelve and status as the heir to the Acolytes added another layer of legendary color to his story!

Even the Acolytes' Shop in Diagon Alley experienced a small surge in popularity.

The dazzling brilliance almost overshadowed the fact that Lockhart was the heir to Slytherin.

In stark contrast to him was Dumbledore, the headmaster of Hogwarts.

As the headmaster of Hogwarts, he hadn't been able to find the location of the Chamber of Secrets for decades.

He wasn't even as good as a twelve-year-old wizard.

More importantly... it was like letting a wolf into the house!

He personally brought the Slytherin heir to Hogwarts School, setting the stage for a series of horrific events.

The words were so sharp that they even implied that all of this was intentionally done by Dumbledore.

It was to show the outside world his dissatisfaction with the suspension order issued some time ago!

This made Dumbledore, who was already being criticized, the target of public criticism once again.

Hogwarts Castle.

The young wizards also saw the news in the Daily Prophet.

Exclamations of surprise echoed from the long tables.

"So Argus has done so much for us in secret! He's so busy every day we're practically invisible, but we..."

"Yes, we even thought he was the Slytherin heir back then, and we even... we even... but he not only didn't think about revenge, he even... even..."

"I deserve to die! If Argus hadn't discovered his identity as the Slytherin heir, who knows how many more people would have been petrified! He saved so many of our classmates, yet we misunderstood him so deeply!"

"No, I have to go to St. Mungo's Hospital to see him!"

"I want to go too! He wasn't treated at the school clinic, so he must be seriously injured!"

"..."

A large group of young wizards felt extremely guilty.

Several people had already approached the professor and requested to visit him at St. Mungo's Hospital

"No need to rush, little wizards."

"We've received word from St. Mungo's Hospital that Mr. Grindelwald can be discharged tomorrow."

"You'll have plenty of time to visit then!"

Professor McGonagall and Snape were both extremely busy, so in the end, Professor Sprout stepped in to take charge.

Hearing Professor Sprout's assurance, everyone stopped.

Each person prepared their own gift.

The only difference is... Ginny!

She regretted it soon after throwing away the diary.

When she tried to look for it again, the diary had already disappeared.

According to the Daily Prophet, the person who found the diary was Lockhart!

Ultimately, this led to his brother and Harry being struck by the Memory Charm, and his crush Argus Grindelwald being injured by the basilisk.

Guilt and self-blame filled her heart.

It was so heavy she could hardly breathe.

She wanted to confide in someone, but this was something she couldn't possibly talk about with anyone else.

Left with no other choice, she had to go visit Argus with others the next day.

She sought some comfort in Argus.

...

The next morning.

Argus changed his clothes and quickly packed his belongings.

After thanking the doctors and nurses who had taken care of him over the past few days, he returned to Hogwarts with Professor McGonagall amidst their praise.

As he entered the castle gates, it was lunchtime.

It instantly attracted the attention of all the teachers and students!

The hall froze for a moment, then erupted in thunderous cheers and expressions of sympathy!

"Chief! You're finally back!"

"Argus, are you alright? How badly are you hurt?"

"I'm sorry, Argus, I...we misunderstood you before...please forgive me!"

Professor McGonagall did not dampen the enthusiasm of the young wizards until they were all crowded together, at which point she clapped her hands.

"Alright, little wizards, Mr. Grindelwald needs some time to be observed and rest."

"Let me take Mr. Grindelwald to Madam Pomfrey first, and stop blocking the doorway."

"If you have any gifts or anything you want to say, we can talk about it after the check-up is finished."

Although the group of young wizards were eager to apologize and thank Argus, they knew the importance and urgency of the matter.

One by one, they made way for Professor McGonagall and Argus.

The two arrived at Madam Pomfrey's school infirmary. After a series of examinations and confirmation that there was nothing seriously wrong, Madam Pomfrey gave Argus several bottles of medicine and watched him drink them.

When Argus opened his eyes again, it was already afternoon.

The bedside table was covered with countless gifts and greeting cards.

"It seems this injury was worth it."

"Opportunities to win people's hearts on such a large scale are rare!"
