Chapter 82 - [82] Victory Unlocked! The Enigmatic Mirror of Erised

Argus glanced at Voldemort, his expression nonchalant.

"My chess skills are indeed poor, but my Transfiguration is not bad."

Voldemort's eyes were icy: "Since you already had a plan, why didn't you just turn all the white pieces into your pieces!"

Why? Why do you think so?

To conserve my magic for you! To buy more time for Harry and the others to arrive!

If I really wanted to finish the game quickly, I would have just used an Expelliarmus to get through it!

There's no need to put so much effort into it!

Argus cursed inwardly, but only replied with two words.

"I forgot."

"Forgot?" Voldemort's forehead veins bulged.

A smile played on his lips, but the smile didn't reach his eyes.

There was only a chill in the air.

If it weren't for the fact that Argus was his alternative parasitic target, given his temperament, he wouldn't have kept Argus around until now!

As the white queen was defeated, all the white pieces bowed and made way for her.

Voldemort didn't delay any longer and walked through the door with Argus, continuing down the corridor.

Before long, a pungent stench assaulted their senses.

It doesn't smell like a Fluffy, it smells more like... the stench of a corpse!

Argus had smelled it a few times before coming to England and was very sensitive to the smell.

As they walked further, the stench became even more pronounced.

Through the dim light, a huge figure could be seen squatting on the ground in the distance, gnawing on something.

Hearing footsteps coming from the doorway, it stopped what it was doing.

It suddenly stood up, its cloudy eyes fixed on Argus and Voldemort.

Its dark green skin was stained with bright red blood, and it held a huge wooden stick in its hand.

With a height of over five meters, it was more than twice as tall as Argus!

"Is this a troll?"

"Aren't normal trolls usually twelve feet or three or four meters tall?"

"Where did you get such a behemoth?! If Harry and Ron had encountered this thing in the bathroom in the original books, they would have been torn to pieces!"

Argus screamed inwardly! He almost couldn't help but curse aloud.

He turned to look at Voldemort.

The other party was smiling extremely smugly.

"Are you ready, Argus!"

"This challenge was personally prepared by your Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher."

"I hope...you enjoy it!"

Enjoy! I'm enjoying this so much!

Argus gritted his teeth, took out his wand, and walked towards the giant.

Recalling how Harry, Harry, and his friends defeated the troll in the original story, he glanced at the stick in its hand.

Given the size of this giant monster, it's obviously unrealistic to kill or knock it unconscious with a single blow.

The easiest way is to throw an Avada Kedavra at them.

Simple, brutal, and fatal!

But this approach will inevitably further provoke Dumbledore's hostility.

He could even use legitimate procedures to imprison himself in Azkaban!

What happened today may seem dangerous, but it was just an adventure arranged by Dumbledore for Harry.

But as long as Argus can smoothly navigate the storyline and hold out until Harry arrives, he can easily pass the level.

However, without the Killing Curse, most spells are practically useless against magical creatures like trolls, which have high resistance.

Limited by his age and insufficient magical power, even if his Expelliarmus was of a high level...

It takes several shots to take it down.

What method should I use...?

Argus pulled a large dung ball from his pocket and, to Voldemort's astonishment, hurled it directly at the troll.

It must be admitted that anything produced by Weasley is guaranteed to be of high quality!

After a soft sound, a stench that was hard to describe quickly spread!

Argus, who was prepared, had already covered his mouth and nose!

Voldemort was different!

Having spent so many years in the magical world, he mostly interacted with high-level wizards.

He had never seen anything like this before!

Completely unprepared! The fumes turned his face green!

Just as he was about to take out his wand to dispel the stench, Argus made his move!

Even giant monsters couldn't stand the stench of the dung ball for a moment, especially if they were hit head-on.

It choked and coughed repeatedly.

The hazy, foul odor made the already dark environment even darker, making it even harder to see anyone.

Given the troll's already clumsy body, it fell to the ground after only a couple of steps.

"The opportunity has arrived!"

Argus's eyes lit up.

"Expelliarmus!"

A thick, bright red light shot out, but it did not strike the giant.

Instead, it hit the stone wall above its head!

Boom!

The next second, countless boulders rolled down and slammed heavily onto the giant's head!

The giant knew danger was approaching, but its tiny brain, the size of a booger, was simply not enough to support its thinking.

All it could do was try to protect the top of its head with its hands.

But this was of no use; as more and more stones were thrown down, it was soon buried in the pile of rocks.

Ignoring Voldemort's murderous gaze, Argus stepped forward with a smile, eager to claim credit.

"Teacher, it seems that the trolls that Professor Quirrell prepared are not difficult to deal with."

"Snort!"

Voldemort ignored him and waved his hand to dispel the stench emanating from his body.

He walked towards the gate without looking back.

"According to the timeline in the original book, Harry should be arriving soon."

"I just wonder if that peeping tom Dumbledore will sneak over."

As Argus pondered, the two arrived at the potion challenge set up by Snape.

It was a very simple deduction game, but Voldemort wasn't even interested in watching it. He picked up his wand, cast a spell to isolate himself from the flames, and strode into the fire gate.

Argus was not to be outdone.

Knowing the plot in advance, he had already prepared magical items to isolate the flames, and followed Voldemort straight through the gate of black flames.

A slight feeling of dizziness washed over him.

Opening his eyes, he saw a deep staircase in front of him, with strange patterns carved on the surrounding walls.

A huge mirror stood at the end of the stairs.

"Is this the legendary Mirror of Erised?"

"I think this is the first time I've seen it since I came to Hogwarts!"

"I don't know what I desire most in my heart."

Argus approached Voldemort and feigned ignorance, asking, "Teacher, is what you want that mirror?"

"Besides that mirror, there doesn't seem to be anything else here?"

Voldemort walked expressionlessly toward the Mirror of Erised.

A pair of eyes stared intently at their reflection in the mirror.

After a while, he felt completely drained, his legs went weak, and he almost fell to the ground.

When he looked up again, his demeanor and expression had clearly changed.

"Let Argus come and give it a try. He doesn't know what we're looking for, so maybe it will have a different effect."

Voldemort, who was behind him, realized that even after returning the body to Quirrell, he still couldn't find any trace of the Philosopher's Stone, and couldn't help but urge him on.

"Yes…yes, Master!" Quirrell's weak voice rang out.

He waved his hand, signaling for Argus to come over.

"Mr. Grindelwald, you...you come here for a moment!"

"Stand in front of this mirror."

Argus didn't mind at all and walked confidently to the Mirror of Erised.

In any case, only he himself could see the image in the mirror, and even if he obtained the Philosopher's Stone, Voldemort would not be able to know it.

A ripple, like waves, echoed across the mirror.

Then, the scene that Argus longed for most slowly appeared in the mirror…
