Chapter 38 - Chapter 33

First Potions Class – Hufflepuff & Ravenclaw

The dungeons were cool and dimly lit as the first-years filed in. Cauldrons gleamed in neat rows.

Keith and Rias shared a workstation.

Helena and Susan paired up.

Hermione partnered with Padma Patil.

A few nervous whispers spread:

"Potions… with Snape…"

"He hates everyone except his own house…"

"I heard he deducts points for breathing wrong."

Keith didn't react.

Rias was calm.

Helena looked relaxed—almost excited.

Snape Enters

The door swung open, and Professor Snape swept inside.

Except… something was off.

His hair wasn't greasy.

His clothes were well-pressed.

His general aura looked… presentable.

Keith nearly smirked.

"Trying to look good for his daughter's first day… cute."

Helena glanced at Snape with warm eyes and silently mouthed:

"Good luck, Father."

Snape didn't smile—but his eyes softened for a moment. He gave the faintest nod.

Then he turned sharply—only to catch Keith watching him with a knowing smile.

Snape froze for a half-second, as if thinking:

"This child knows too much."

He turned immediately, his cloak snapping dramatically, and began writing on the board.

The Lesson Begins

The potion written was a simple first-year brew (you can insert any name later).

Snape lectured with his usual smooth, intimidating tone—though Keith noticed he kept glancing subtly toward Helena.

Finally, Snape called:

"Miss Prince."

Helena stood confidently.

He asked a series of detailed questions—ingredients, temperatures, magical interactions.

Helena answered them all without hesitation.

Snape nodded.

"Ten points to Hufflepuff."

The entire class froze.

Snape?

GIVING points?

To another house?

On the first day?!

A girl whispered:

"He… he actually gave points?!"

"To someone who isn't a Slytherin?!"

"What is happening?!"

Keith and Rias didn't react—they expected it.

Brewing Time

Students lit their cauldrons nervously.

Keith and Rias worked calmly, moving in perfect sync.

Keith yawned, lazily adjusting temperatures.

Rias chopped ingredients elegantly.

Keith stirred effortlessly.

Within minutes, their potion bubbled into a flawless crystal-clear brew—better than the textbook version.

Keith had changed three steps for improved efficiency and safety.

Snape approached silently.

He stared at the potion.

Then at Keith.

Then back at the potion.

"You altered the procedure."

Keith shrugged lightly.

"The order of ingredients in the original formula leads to unstable foaming.

Adding moonseed earlier stabilizes the reaction.

It saves time and reduces magical volatility."

Snape blinked.

Keith could tell he wasn't expecting such a calm, perfect explanation.

Rias folded her arms proudly beside him.

Snape finally nodded.

"…Ten points to Hufflepuff."

Gasps filled the classroom.

Hermione nearly fell off her chair.

Padma whispered, "He gave more points?! Twice?!"

Susan stared at Keith with sparkles in her eyes.

Helena smirked—she knew her father's reactions too well.

Helena & Susan's Potion

Snape approached his daughter next.

Helena and Susan's cauldron was shining with a rich, balanced color.

Helena had clearly guided the brew, and Susan followed well.

Snape inspected it carefully.

Then he nodded—more softly, more proudly than before.

He didn't say anything aloud, but Helena saw it in his eyes.

Class Ends – Instant Fame

As the class dismissed, the whispers began immediately:

"Did Snape just give twenty points to Hufflepuff?!"

"Who is Keith Runcandel?!"

"And Helena Prince—Snape praised her!"

"Runcandel kids are monsters…"

Students kept glancing at Keith and Helena with awe—and a bit of fear.

Keith walked out with Rias holding his hand, Helena walking proudly beside them.

By the time they reached the corridor:

Keith and Helena had already become famous for doing the impossible—

earning Snape's praise.
