Wish raised a brow. Utterly unconvinced. "Then I'd say you're lying."
"I never lie." Dew's smile widened. His eyes glinted with pure mischief. "Though I do have fond memories of a certain woman who tried very hard to catch me in a river once."
Heat flooded Wish's cheeks instantly. "That was—I didn't know—"
"You grabbed my tail," Dew continued, clearly savoring every second of her discomfort. "Actually managed to get a good grip on it too. Very determined. I was impressed."
"You were a two-hundred-meter fish!" Wish's voice rose, echoing off the corridor walls. "How was I supposed to know you were—were—"
"A person?" Dew supplied helpfully.
"Yes! A deity person at that!"
"In fairness," Dew said, his tone teasing but not cruel, "you were busy calculating how much I'd be worth if you sold me. I could practically hear you thinking: 'This will feed me for months.'"
