Chapter 28 - Chapter 28 Witness the birth of Iron Man

atching TV only shows pictures; some things must be experienced firsthand to feel their full impact.

For Tony, this was war, weapons, death, and blood—God had placed all that blood around him.

Tony Stark had transformed from a carefree playboy into Iron Man.

For Qin Xiao, it was more like a game of exploring the world. Perhaps he knew what would happen from a godlike perspective, so killing and fighting in Afghanistan carried no special emotional weight or belief.

Yet that didn't dull his other senses. For example, the first time he saw Tony Stark suit up in the Iron Man armor—it was unlike anything movies could convey.

The reality hit harder than the cinema ever could.

He watched as Tony operated the auxiliary control console, extending several metallic arms to attach the armor piece by piece.

Even though Tony hadn't painted it yet—and despite having seen the Mark 85's nanotech armor on screen—Qin Xiao was captivated by the intricate design of the armor before him.

Feet, hands, back, joints—all were fitted with cleverly designed, movable components.

A faint blue glow emanated from the interior.

"This is insane… Fuck, this is every man's dream!" Qin Xiao shouted, exhilarated.

Indeed, this was a man's ultimate toy—any sports car or firearm paled in comparison.

"Calm down, buddy. The ultimate dream hasn't even arrived yet. You'll scream when my next move hits! J.A.R.V.I.S., activate the thrusters. I'm taking off!"

"Sir, that will require trillions of calculations," J.A.R.V.I.S. replied cautiously.

"Sometimes you have to learn to run before you can walk, J.A.R.V.I.S. Let's go!" Tony said, and immediately the armor's foot thrusters burst into red flames.

The suit lifted off the ground slowly, rising nearly half a meter. Hovering for a few seconds, Tony swung his arms as four thruster nozzles fired simultaneously.

Whoosh!

To Qin Xiao, it was as if a silver lightning bolt shot past, racing down the garage corridor and out of the house.

He was flying!

"Whoa! Whoa! Whoa!" Tony's excited voice echoed through the room.

"Qin, you have no idea what this feels like! Hahaha! Wooo—" Tony laughed triumphantly.

"Careful, Tony. There's a Chinese saying: extreme joy often leads to sorrow. Ever heard that?" Qin Xiao said, sourly.

"Haha! Jealous, aren't you? You're jealous! I'm Tony Stark. J.A.R.V.I.S., what's the flight ceiling of the SR-71?"

"Official record: 85,000 feet, sir."

"Qin, today you're witnessing a new flight record!!!"

Tony cheered as a streak of fire cut across the Los Angeles night sky, shooting straight upward into the clouds.

Qin Xiao, familiar with the films, knew what would happen next. He pulled over a chair and sat in front of a blue-and-white vintage sports car in the garage, sipping a drink.

Sure enough, within two minutes came a roar.

Tony, clad in armor, smashed through two layers of ceiling, crushing the car in front of Qin Xiao.

"Perfect!!!"

Qin Xiao heard Tony's frustrated sigh echoing from the garage speakers.

"Fool! Let's get to work! Spray him!"

Tony's intelligent mechanical arms—originally meant for household chores—moved beside him. He raised a modified arm and doused the armor on the floor with fire retardant.

Fssshhh~~~~~~

In the original storyline, Obadiah had once berated a Stark Industries scientist in anger.

Legend has it that Tony built a small arc reactor from scrap in a cave.

At Stark Industries, all the lab scientists gathered around the prototype machine—but even then, Qin Xiao couldn't find his bearings.

In reality, even without genius intellect or overwhelming technology, Tony's hands-on skill, aided by J.A.R.V.I.S. and multiple robotic arms, was comparable to an industrial assembly line.

After the final high-altitude freeze test, he had completed a brand-new suit in just three days—not including time spent ordering and transporting materials.

The familiar red-and-gold color scheme, propeller-like laser cannons, and arc reactor glowing on the chest—everything was in place.

Qin Xiao froze for a moment, lost in awe.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe had many superheroes, but the most popular? Probably Iron Man and Captain America. And if you asked fans which hero they most loved watching, most would say Iron Man.

From the cumbersome Mark I in the cave, to the Mark II requiring mechanical arms to put on, to the portable suitcase Mark V, the tracking variant in Avengers 1, the modular design in Iron Man 3, and finally, the astonishing nanotech armor in the ultimate showdown—each appearance brought a fresh visual thrill.

"How do I look?"

The armor finally complete, Tony turned to Qin Xiao, frowning.

"Not bad," Qin Xiao said, inspecting him like a fashion designer assessing a model. He stroked his chin thoughtfully and nodded.

"Well done, Tony. You're almost as tall as me now."

He gestured with his hands on either side of his head.

Tony: (╬ ̄Van ̄)

Everything that had happened on Komira Island—the death of Yinsen, the large quantity of Stark Industries weapons falling into terrorist hands—infuriated Tony.

Before he could deal with Obadiah, he had to eliminate these terrorists.

This task had to be done by him alone, which explained the rapid production of the armor.

But because of Qin Xiao, Tony had to rethink fighting solo.

Originally, he hadn't intended to bring Qin Xiao along—the first reason being that he believed he could handle it alone.

The second was that he no longer considered Qin Xiao a rival.

Qin Xiao had effortlessly crushed extra armor materials into balls with his bare hands, ending any doubts.

"I thought super soldiers weren't supposed to be this strong," Tony muttered.

Turning to him, Qin Xiao struck a deliberately arrogant pose, hands clasped behind his back, gazing at the sky like a proud master.

"I don't know about others, but I—Qin Xiao—am strong!"

"It's too powerful!"
