Chapter 162 - 161. The king descends from the sky!

Chapter 161 The King Descends from the Sky!

On the inner side of this world, various unknown secret organizations exist.

Fangshi, Xianxia, Magi, Paladins, Shamans, Witches, Ninjas...

They have continuously honed their skills and passed them down through generations over the long course of history.

In the European region, they are collectively known as Magus Societies.

At this moment, inside a high-end clubhouse in Rome, members from different Magus Societies gathered together.

"The intelligence has been confirmed. Not only in Italy, but worldwide, no new Disobedient Gods have descended upon the human world," the white-haired elder's voice trembled.

The freshly arrived intelligence seemed to weigh a thousand tons, almost suffocating him.

In his old and hoarse tone, there was unconcealed fear and helplessness.

With a 'boom!', the entire conference hall erupted into chaos.

The worst possible situation for humanity had occurred!

"Without Disobedient Gods... how are we to face those 'Kings'?

"Godslayerss... they themselves are walking natural disasters!"

From ancient times to the present, the gods woven by humans in myths and legends, who descended without authorization by rebelling against their own destiny, bringing disaster to the world, are called 'Disobedient'.

And Godslayerss are the supreme Kings born from mortal combat with such beings, by slaying gods and usurping their authority.

They are the guardians of humanity against disaster, and also the Sword of Damocles hanging over the heads of all mortals.

Now, the disaster has disappeared.

How should these mortals coexist with Godslayerss who are capable of destroying the world?

Thump! Thump!

The white-bearded elder grabbed the sandalwood gavel and heavily struck the table, silencing all the noise.

He looked around at his equally pale colleagues and sighed deeply.

"Neither Disobedient Gods nor the Kings who slay them are beings that we mortals can contend with.

"As things stand, apart from continuing to pledge allegiance to that King, do we have any other path to take?"

Silence swallowed the noise, enveloping the entire hall.

"It seems that the 'Sword King' is not within Rome's borders," a clear male voice suddenly broke the suffocating silence.

The Paladins closest to the door instinctively sprang to their feet, their hands poised to summon weapons!

"Don't be nervous, all of you, sit down."

The voice was understated, yet it seemed to command the very laws of nature!

An irresistible and terrifying pressure descended, the air becoming as viscous as mercury, solidifying the entire space!

The battle-hardened Paladins felt as if a majestic mountain had been placed on their shoulders, their knees buckling, causing them to fall back into their seats in disarray, the sturdy chairs instantly cracking!

Cold sweat streamed down their foreheads like waterfalls!

Who was this person!?

Such power was definitely not that of a mortal!

Was it a newly born Disobedient God? Or a King who had crossed boundaries?

A gentle breeze swept across the main stage, and a figure materialized out of thin air.

Arthur exchanged glances with the white-bearded elder, who then uncontrollably bowed and retreated, standing respectfully as if it were the natural order of things.

He stepped forward, lightly tapping the amplification device twice, producing a dull echo.

"Good morning, everyone."

His voice, amplified, spread to every corner, calm and cold.

"Regarding the topic you were just discussing, I am quite interested. How about... we discuss it together?"

Not a sound was heard.

In this deathly silence, a middle-aged man, exuding an aura of steel and blood, gritted his teeth and, enduring the invisible pressure, struggled to stand up.

"Paul Brantley, Commander-in-Chief of the Milan Magus Society [Crimson Black Cross], greets you."

"Oh?" Arthur raised an eyebrow, his gaze falling upon this unyielding Paladin, like a lion, a hint of approval in his eyes.

He had thought that the Magi of this world were merely sycophants who lived at the mercy of Godslayerss, but now it seemed they weren't all spineless.

As his thoughts moved, the immense pressure, enough to crush steel and bone, suddenly dissipated.

The conference hall immediately filled with heavy, hurried breathing, everyone feeling as if they had escaped disaster, no longer daring to make any unusual movements.

The blonde girl sitting next to Paul quickly wiped the sweat from her pretty face, her eyes, which always exuded queen-like confidence, were now filled with surprise and doubt.

She glanced at her uncle, who still wore a serious expression, quickly tidied her appearance, and once again displayed a flawless smile.

"Good day, Erica Brantley greets you. From what you just said, do you disapprove of us continuing to pledge allegiance to that King?"

Paul frowned, interjecting before his presumptuous niece could continue.

"[Crimson Black Cross], like other societies, adheres to the alliance treaty of Italy. We hope you will clarify."

Arthur's gaze swept over the two of them, and he shook his head with a smile, an undisguised playfulness in his expression.

"The reason is simple: I am about to eliminate him. Therefore, you no longer need to be conflicted about pledging allegiance or not."

Eliminate?

Paul and Erica's hearts trembled, looking at Arthur's overly young face in horror, frantically searching their minds but finding no information about a King that matched him.

"Your Excellency... are you a newly ascended King?"

Arthur stroked his chin, seemingly contemplating his words, and finally decided to follow local customs.

"I am the Last King to appear in this world, the hero of salvation, the nemesis of the Godslaying Demon King!"

Before he finished speaking, he raised his hand to the sky!

The Salvation God Sword appeared with a flourish, brilliant white light bursting from its blade, instantly illuminating the entire space!

Blinding lightning arcs wildly danced at the tip of the sword, condensing into a platinum sphere of light that intermittently contracted and expanded!

The heat and power emanating from that sphere of light seemed to melt even the stars in the firmament!

Everyone present, including Paul, was speechless.

They stared blankly at the world-destroying sphere of light that could fall at any moment, their souls trembling.

"Alright, make your choice."

"Will you be buried with the 'Sword King', or... will you submit to me?"

The next instant, the platinum sphere of light and the world-destroying pressure simultaneously receded into the blade, disappearing without a trace.

Only Arthur's calm voice echoed in the conference hall, still bearing the residual heat of destruction.

This choice, for the members of the Italian Magus Societies, was not difficult.

Their allegiance was originally to borrow the power of a 'King' to contend with Disobedient Gods.

Now that Disobedient Gods had vanished, that King, whose power far exceeded normal limits, had become the greatest threat.

After a brief and efficient exchange of glances, Paul stepped forward as a representative, posing the final question.

"According to legend, the 'Last King' merely standing on the earth would cause irreparable damage to the world; given time, all things would wither. But Your Excellency..."

"That is a predicament only the weak face," Arthur interrupted him without changing his expression, his tone leaving no room for doubt.

"If I cannot perfectly control my own great power, how can I speak of being an enemy to a Demon King who slays gods?"

Paul's eyes gleamed, for a moment unsure whether to believe the person before him or the ancient records that had been passed down for hundreds of years.

But he was not a reckless man after all; he bowed respectfully, explaining with a troubled expression.

"Salvatore Doni, that King is extremely capricious and his whereabouts are uncertain; we are powerless to influence his thoughts."

Arthur nodded indifferently: "It doesn't matter, you only need to spread the word, just say—"

"The Disobedient King Arthur has awakened within Italy, and he, wielding his holy sword, has issued a death challenge to the Godslayers who reigns as the Sword King."
