Chapter 4 - Chapter 4:A morning of rain and light

Sarina's POV.

The morning rain fell softly.

Not heavy, not harsh. Just thin silver threads brushing the ground, wetting leaves and the stone paths. The air smelled fresh, clean, like the world had just been washed and reset.

I walked slowly across the campus, careful of the puddles. The sound of rain was constant, steady, comforting. Students moved past me — talking, laughing, rushing to classes — but the world felt quieter somehow, softer.

I noticed Lukas near the covered walkway. Jordan and Ethan were with him, while Leo leaned against a pillar, watching the rain lazily. Lukas didn't look at me at first, but when he did, he gave a small nod.

"Morning," I said as I joined them.

"Morning," Jordan replied casually.

"You're early," Leo said.

"So are you," I answered.

Lukas glanced at the rain. "You don't mind it?"

"I like it," I said. "Makes everything quiet."

He smiled faintly.

Lukas's POV

Sarina had a way of noticing things no one else did.

The rain. The quiet. The calm of the morning before the day fully began. Being near her slowed everything down in the best way.

"Classes haven't started yet," Ethan said. "We've got time."

Sarina looked down the path. "Want to walk?"

I nodded. "Sure."

The others stayed back, letting us go. No comments. No questions.

Sarina's POV

We walked behind the main building. The trees blocked most of the rain, but occasional drops fell, bouncing off leaves and hitting the ground with soft plinks.

Walking next to Lukas didn't feel awkward. It felt normal. Comfortable.

"Do you always walk here?" I asked.

"Most mornings," he replied. "It's peaceful."

"I like peaceful," I said.

We stopped under a large tree as the rain picked up slightly.

For a moment, we didn't speak.

No tension. No expectations. Just the sound of rain and the soft wind through the leaves.

Lukas's POV

Her hands looked cold.

Without thinking, I removed my hoodie and handed it to her. "Here."

She hesitated. "You'll get wet."

"I'll be fine," I said.

She took it. "Thanks."

Her shoulders relaxed. That was enough.

The bell rang faintly in the distance.

"We should head back," I said.

She nodded.

Sarina's POV

We were almost at the main path when something changed.

The rain slowed.

Not naturally. The world fell quieter. Too quiet.

A shadow moved ahead.

The monster emerged from the wet ground — dark, twisted, enormous. Its eyes glowed faintly, fixed on me.

My body reacted before my mind did.

I took a step back.

"Stay back!" Lukas shouted.

I stepped back again.

Then ran.

Not in fear. Instinctively. Toward an empty path behind the trees.

The boys called out, but I didn't stop. The sound of the rain seemed to fade as I ran.

I was alone.

Sarina / Lumina POV

Light flared in my chest.

It didn't hurt. It didn't scare me.

It felt right.

Wings of radiant light unfolded behind me, and my feet lifted from the ground. Rain bent around me as I rose into the sky.

Then I saw her.

Luna.

She hovered calmly, expression unreadable, waiting.

"You're awake," she said.

"I remember," I whispered.

We turned together toward the monster.

The ground shook beneath us.

The monster screamed and lunged, but its movements slowed as we approached. Lumina's presence, combined with Luna, made the creature hesitate.

The boys arrived at the edge of the empty path.

They stopped, eyes wide.

They did not see the transformation.

Only when Lumina descended toward the monster, wings spread, did they comprehend.

Instantly, they dropped to one knee.

"Master Lumina."

Her voice was calm.

"Stand."

They obeyed.

She raised her hand, summoning the rain — not gray, but glowing in red, blue, green, white. The colors swirled together, merging into a single radiant arc of power.

The monster screamed once.

Then vanished.

Completely.

The rain slowed naturally. The ground settled. Silence returned.

I folded my wings slowly. Luna hovered at my side.

The boys looked at me, stunned but unharmed.

Lukas stepped forward. "It's… over."

"Seems so," I said lightly.

The morning continued as if nothing had happened — soft rain, empty pathways, calm and ordinary again.

And yet… the world felt just a little brighter.
