The next day is a special day for the students.
Sam is tired, once again unable to sleep. Nightmares still claw at him, leaving him awake long before dawn. By the time Aizawa appears, Sam is already exhausted.
"Today we are doing rescue training," Aizawa announces. "We will take you to an off-campus facility where you will perform emulated disaster relief."
The class immediately lights up with excitement.
"Suzuki," Aizawa adds, "you're free to not participate."
They all looked at Sam. He just sighed.
'Fuck it. Why not?'
"Alright. I'll just watch," Sam replies with a tired sigh.
Sam gets up and heads towards the changing room first. However, he just keeps his school uniform on. He steps out first and he sees Aizawa, who also seems to have just gotten there. They exchange a brief nod.
Sam then remembered seeing them go to the suitcases in the walls. Also how Aizawa said those are costumes.
'Huh… first time seeing their costumes,' Sam thinks.
He watches them file out—then stops.
"…The fuck?"
He couldn't care less about how the others looked but a few stuck out. Momo was partially naked.
However, his eyes landed on one girl in particular.
She's naked.
Not partially naked, she is completely bare. Just gloves and boots.
Sam blinks once.
'Whoever decided to let her run around naked should be beaten with a tendril.'
He looks away and doesn't comment further.
A whistle cuts through the noise.
"Gather around, Class 1-A! We will now enter based on our class num—"
Before Iida can finish, Sam simply boards the bus.
The rest of the class follows soon after.
Leaving behind a devastated Iida.
Sam takes a seat in the back. A moment later, someone sits beside him. Todoroki.
The kid is looking at him.
"…Can I help you?" Sam asks.
"You shot my dad in the knees," Todoroki says calmly.
Sam nods. "You trying to settle a score?"
Todoroki shakes his head. "No. I'm thankful. He deserved it."
Sam is momentarily stunned. He can feel resentment behind the words.
'I knew the guy was an asshole. But really? Child abuse?'
Sam exhales. "No need to thank me. I got burned badly by the flaming piece of garbage, so we'll call it even."
Todoroki nods and falls silent.
Sam listens a bit and hears something about All Might and Midoriya having similar quirks. 'Really?' Sam was intrigued, hoping to see for himself.
"Enough. We're here," Aizawa says.
The bus stops in front of a massive dome.
Something twists in Sam's gut.
'What the fuck?'
He scans the area. No one nearby. No obvious threats.
And yet—
'That feeling again.'
Murderous intent.
Sam grits his teeth.
'I'm imagining it. You're not in that hell anymore. Calm down, Sam.'
He forces himself to breathe as Thirteen introduces the facility, calling it USJ.
The moment they step inside, Sam's eyes start moving—counting exits, cover, blind spots.
The bad feeling spikes.
As Thirteen finishes speaking, Sam's head snaps up.
'No! This can't be mistaken!'
"Aizawa! Get everyone out!"
Every head turns toward him.
"What are you talking about, Suzuki?" Aizawa asks sharply.
Before Sam can answer, black portals tear open around the facility.
Villains pour out.
"Shit," Sam mutters. "This is real. The killing intent is too real."
A man with hands covering his face steps forward—Shigaraki.
"I was hoping All Might would be here," he says. "But if killing a few kids brings him out…"
Sam's blood runs cold.
'Kill some kids.'
For half a second, the world fractures.
Screaming that doesn't belong here.
Small bodies on the ground.
Dust. Blood. Smoke and iron.
Sam's jaw clenches.
'No.'
Then something hits him harder than the memory.
His instincts scream.
Sam's eyes snap past Shigaraki—locking onto the towering, beaked monster behind him.
The pressure rolling off it isn't chaotic.
It's focused. Purpose-built.
'That thing isn't here to scare anyone,' Sam realizes.
'It's here to kill.'
His stomach twists.
'Aizawa can't handle that alone.'
Aizawa moves in front of the students. Sam stays with them.
He watches as Aizawa goes down and starts fighting the villains.
Sam wanted to warn Aizawa about the creature by the hand guy, but was stopped.
A fog-like villain comes forward. "We are the League of Villains. We have come to ensure the Symbol of Peace draws his last breath."
Sam notes that carefully.
"Wasn't All Might supposed to be here?"
'How did he know that?'
Bakugo and Kirishima charge—and pass straight through the fog. "That was close, you young heroes really are golden eggs." Kurogiri says as he reforms.
Thirteen attacks next, only for her own quirk to be redirected back at her, tearing her suit open.
"Sensei!" All the students, minus Sam, screamed.
"I will scatter you," the villain says calmly, "and let you suffer at the hands of my comrades."
Sam doesn't hesitate.
He grabs the closest student—Mina—and dives away from the growing darkness beneath them.
They hit the ground hard, but safe.
They both sit up.
"T-thanks, Sam," Mina stammers.
"You have the acid quirk, right?" Sam asks.
She nods. "Y-yes."
"Go to the entrance and try to melt the door. They locked us in."
"O-okay!"
She runs.
"Iida."
Sam turns fo Iida who saved Uraraka from the portal.
"Suzuki! Are you hurt?!"
"I'm fine. I need you to get out and get help. Mina, if I'm not mistaken, will make you an opening. Uraraka, you and the others help with that."
She nods resolutely. The others nearby also heard that and also harden their resolve.
"But it would be disgraceful to—"
"You aren't betraying us," Sam cuts in. "You're doing the logical thing. It's only betrayal if you run for yourself."
"Get going Emergency Exit. We got this." Sato says with determination.
"We will help you Iida!" Uraraka declares and Shoji nods in agreement.
Iida stiffens—then nods. "Understood."
Sam turns back toward the chaos.
'I need a gun.'
He remembers hearing about the quirk of the girl with the ponytail. Momo, if he isn't mistaken. She can create anything.
'That girl—Momo. She can make what I need.'
He remembers her falling into the portal with the electric kid and the earphone girl. And as if fate isn't telling him to find them, he spots a large electric blast. 'Well how about that.' Sam immediately heads over there.
He takes a shortcut to the approximate location.
As he run there, a villain lunges for him. A man with a rocky arm
Sam looks at him closely, sees his quirk and immediately understands everything he needs to know.
"Time to die, brat!"
Sam grabs the rocky arm, yanks the villain forward, and drives his knee into his face. Instant knockout.
After that guy hits the ground, another villain hears the crunch of his comrades nose on Sam's knee and turns toward him.
He is also a mutant. A werewolf quirk.
Sam mentally notes that and readies himself.
Sam sidesteps, preventing his claws from gutting him. Sam spits into his eye, making the werewolf flinch. In that moment, he executes a clean judo throw, and finishes with a brutal kick to the snout.
Just like that, he surgically incapacitated those two villains.
'Seriously? These are just fodder.'
Sam deduces, seeing the below basic skill of the villains. But he knows better than to let his guard down, especially with that beast by the hand man.
He keeps moving.
He sees an area with many knocked out villains. He sees the three students he was looking for surrounded by the charred villains.
He finds Kaminari with a stupid face, going "yeah!". 'Is that the drawback? He fries his brain?'
Sam then notices somebody coming out from the ground, slowly sneaking up to Kaminari.
Sam slips behind the man, just as he is about to take Kaminari hostage and locks him into a carotid chokehold.
Five seconds.
'Go to sleep dipshit.'
The body drops.
Momo and Jiro stare at him.
Jiro then remembers that Momo's shirt is torn, but Sam just keeps walking up to her. Before she can tell Momo to cover up, Sam is already in front of her, not giving a damn about her exposed body.
"You can create anything, right?" Sam asks.
Momo raises an eyebrow. "Yes… as long as I know what it is."
Sam nods. "I need a sniper rifle. And ammo. Any will do."
Momo freezes. "I—I can't make firearms!"
Jiro pipes in. "Besides, you can't just kill them!"
Sam sighs. "You just said you could create anything. Was it a lie?"
Momo shakes her head.
"It's not a lie! I can make it…but it's against the law for me to make firearms."
Sam rubs his face and sighs. "I need you to think bigger. Aizawa is in tremendous danger. He can't win this alone. I'll take responsibility for everything."
Jiro and Momo look at each other. Then back at Sam.
"But what will happen to you?"
They know how he is on thin ice after his incident. If he was to be caught with a gun, that could be very bad for him.
"I don't care," Sam says quietly. "I promise I won't kill anyone."
Jiro looks at Momo, waiting for her to choose.
Momo hesitates—then sighs.
She forms a rifle. Old. Heavy. Primitive.
'I can work with this.'
"And twenty rounds," she adds.
Sam loads one, pockets the rest.
"Thank you," he says. "I won't forget this."
He sprints off.
Behind him, Momo watches.
'I'm trusting you, Sam. Please don't make me regret it.'
Jiro then looks at Momo.
"…you realize you were flashing him that whole time, right?"
Momo's eyes widened and she looked down. She felt her face heat up, seeing her breast was clearly exposed.
"W-why didn't either of you say anything?!?"
Jiro shrugged.
"He didn't even look. He was totally oblivious or he just didn't care. And I didn't want to interrupt him. He looked ready to kick ass at any moment."
Momo sighed, fixed her clothing and got ready to return to her friends.
"Let's go."
