Chapter 4 - Chapter 4 — The Name

Chapter 4 — The Name

Aizawa stared at the tablet. He saw the footage of the kid he fought, beating up the upcoming hero "teleporter" with one kick.

Then he saw the footage of him tricking some cops and beating them up in an alley, stealing their guns.

Then there was the shootout that put new piercings in the hands of the cops, and more ammo and even a few riot control items, being relinquished to the boys care.

He sighed. This situation was not at all how he intended this to go.

He still recalls meeting him.

He remembers hearing a scream for help, he was on patrol, still tired after a long night, but duty calls.

He hurried over to the cry, and swung over there with his scarf.

The moment he got there, he saw that someone else got their before him.

It was just a kid. At first, he thought the kid was just trying to be a hero. But that changed the moment he saw the skills of the boy.

'Definitely military-grade combat skill.'

But even more concerning to Aizawa was the killing intent he showed.

"Had I not interfered, he might have killed that man."

"Quite the anomaly, wouldn't you agree?"

Aizawas head popped up after hearing this. A voice he knew well.

"Nezu…"

The fuzzy principal of UA entered the meeting room in the police station of Musutafu.

"How are you? No injuries?"

Aizawa sighed.

"I'll live… but I really thought I was done for. That kid, wasn't normal."

Nezu nodded.

"Indeed. I just got word of who that young man is."

Aizawa perked up at this.

Nezu hands him a file, labeled "Suzuki Samuel."

"Suzuki?"

Nezu nodded.

"Yes. That's our guy!"

Aizawa noticed that Nezus smile was missing.

"What?"

He asked the principal, who just gestures Aizawa to read the documents.

He opened the folder and saw his file. His eyes widened when seeing it.

"Nezu… where is all of his information?"

"That was it."

Aizawa was shocked. All that he could find on Sam Suzuki was his age and birthday. Also, the only record of him was from his return to Japan from Tanzania, Africa.

"What the hell was he doing in Africa?"

Nezu crossed his little paws together, thinking seriously.

"Aizawa… what do you know about the affairs of Africa?"

Aizawa raised a brow at that, but thought about it.

"I heard it was a war-torn hellhole. A place where mercenaries run free and… wait…"

"Yes…"

Nezu could tell Aizawa figured out where he was going with this.

"So we are dealing with a rogue mercenary? Great…"

"Not necessarily."

Aizawa looked confused.

"The only other reports on him were some documents about his employment at a construction site. He worked there for a few weeks."

Just as he was about to ask a question, Nezu spoke again.

"I almost forgot. Shockingly, it seems that he is quirkless."

Aizawa was indeed shocked. He was beaten by a quirkless kid. He let that sink in for a moment.

"So that was all pure combat skill…"

Nezu nodded his head.

Aizawa allowed Nezu to continue.

"But the most… disturbing… document was a referral from a Lieutenant Donald Simmons. An American stationed at a US military base hidden in Tanzania. They were the ones responsible for his return."

Aizawa sighed.

"So they sent some unhinged lunatic here? Are they expecting us to clean up their problems?"

Aizawa suddenly felt an ominous look coming from Nezu.

"Aizawa… I'll let that go since you are ignorant… but don't go assuming things so easily… look at the contents of the referral."

He handed Aizawa the referral.

Aizawa took a look.

After glimpsing it, he had wide eyes.

He read the most notable part:

"…it is of the most importance that Suzuki get the most severe mental health treatment. Showed signs of PTSD on a severe level. With no help, he is likely to act out in panic. He is still unused to peaceful life."

Aizawa and Nezu were silent after reading that.

Finally, Aizawa couldn't take it anymore.

"So did he bail on his mental help? He ditch therapy?"

Nezu shook his head.

"No… the referral was completely ignored."

Aizawa felt pissed. At the system that failed Sam… and at himself for causing the boy to have an episode.

"That is besides the point. We can worry about his lack of mental help later, right now we have a mad man on the loose shooting up my fellow officers."

At the door was Naomasa Tsukauchi. A notable detective able to detect lies with his quirk.

"So you heard our talk already, detective?"

Nezu asked.

Tsukauchi nodded.

"He might have suffered, but ignorance of the law is no excuse."

Nezu noticed that Tsukauchi had clenched fists. It seemed to him he was holding a grudge on Sam. Likely because he shot the hands of his fellow officers.

"I'm issuing an APB."

"Wait, I don't think that's-"

"No! This is getting out of control. He already gave Mirko the slip! Mirko! He is too dangerous!"

He got out his transceiver and immediately began speaking into it.

"All units, be advised! Suspect's name is Samuel Suzuki! The suspect is responsible for assaulting pro heroes, and for shooting police officers. Subject is armed and dangerous. Last seen near…"

———

"Any sighting of the suspect is to be met with the utmost caution! Subject is quirkless, but still very dangerous! Already beat two pro-heroes and escaped from the number 5 pro-hero, Mirko!…"

On a rooftop, Sam listened.

He took a transceiver of a cop while making his escape. He wanted to make sure he was able to avoid them at all costs.

"They know who I am now. And they even know I'm quirkless. I've got to proceed with caution."

Sam got up. He was ready to keep moving.
