"Footage of a white-haired man with a claw-like scar has gone viral…"
Sam watched himself on a screen.
'A monster. They think I'm some monster.'
Sam was even more depressed, seeing how everyone is portraying him. A lowly villain.
But the saddest part, is that Sam can't help but agree.
"I know I'm a monster. I know I need to be thrown away in the deepest pit of hell. I don't need anyone telling me that."
Sam's eyes further lost color as he watched the news report.
He decided to ignore it. Getting all depressed was counter productive to his true goal. He needed to get to the forest.
Just as he was about to head through another alleyway…
BOOM!
A large force hit the concrete in front of him.
Sam shielded his eyes, while gritting his teeth in annoyance.
"Can't you fucks leave me alone?!"
Sam was less than pleased.
"Sorry, buddy! Ain't happening. So just do yourself a favor and give up!"
As the dust cleared, Sam saw someone who made his heart stop. A beautiful brown skinned bunny girl.
The rabbit hero: Mirko.
"Y-you…"
"What's up? You scared?"
She gives him her usual cocky smile.
"Woah! It's Mirko!"
"Wait! That guy! Isn't that the guy who is causing trouble and shooting up cops?"
"Woohoo! Get that villain Mirko!"
She feels even more energized after hearing them.
Sam, however, couldn't even hear them. Right now, all he could do was stare at the rabbit hero.
"Is it you?"
That was all Sam could muster out.
Mirko raised an eyebrow.
"The hell you on about?"
Sam sighed. He held his head, feeling tremendous pain in his weary heart.
"No… sorry. I just… mistook you for someone."
A girl with long white hair, facing a beautiful lake at night, suddenly entered his mind.
With that picture put into his head, he began shaking.
Mirko assumed he was afraid.
She sighed.
"Look, just surrender and I won't hurt ya."
She may be a battle hungry heroine, but she won't fight anyone who isn't asking for it. This guy was clearly not doing good.
"No…"
Mirko was shocked when she heard that.
"What do you mean 'no?' You look like you're about to pass out from anxiety. It's not uncommon with strong heroes. So just come quietly and nobody has to get hurt."
Sam is just shivering and he feels his eyes glossing over.
'She looks… so much like you… I can't…'
"I can't… I can't… I can't!"
Sam pulls out a flash bang he got from the cops, he pulled the pin and threw it in front of the rabbit heroine.
She was so shocked seeing the pure despair on his face that she was late to see the flashing that was thrown at her feet.
BANG!
"Arggh!"
Mirko grabbed her large ears in pain. The large blast was too much on her oversensitive ears.
Sam took that opportunity to run past her, through the alley way. He couldn't bring himself to be around her another second.
Mirko got her bearings back and despite the ringing in her ears, she looked around. But all she saw was a street filled with a crowd of observers. All of them, disoriented and holding their ears.
"What happened?"
"What?!?"
"Did you say something?!"
"Talk louder!!"
Everyone's ears seem to be ringing too.
She hopped up a building and looked around, only to find nothing. If her ears were in tip top shape, she could listen for him, but alas, she was out of options.
"Goddamnit!"
She punched the roof so hard she left a mini crater on it. She felt so mad at both Sam and herself.
"Keep running buddy! I'm going to find your ass!"
———
Sam, who was still carefully running through alleyways, suddenly felt a shiver in his spine. It was something he recalled too well.
'I'm being hunted.'
He thought of the bunny hero he just faced. His heart hurt again thinking of her.
He decides to find a place to rest. He climbed a roof and found some little pockets between AC units that he could hide in for a little while he allows his heart to calm down.
"Of course… even now that I'm here… you keep haunting me… I'm sorry… I'm so sorry…"
Allowing his thoughts to be free, and his emotions to run wild, Sam cried.
He felt so much confusion and despair. Wishing he could just stop this mess.
"Why?! Why won't they stop hunting me!?"
He asked the heavens as if hoping they would have an answer to this impossible question.
But all he got was the sounds of sirens and car engines down below.
He slumped over, sitting against an AC unit, staring blankly at the ground.
"When… will I finally be free…?"
