Chapter 14 - Chapter 14: The Double Barrel's Rampage

The double barrel was one of the loudest weapons in Battle Colosseum, rivaling the random supply crate's heavy sniper rifle in sheer volume.

But no matter how loud, it was hard to pinpoint amid gunfire echoing from all directions.

Especially for stream snipers who had to keep switching between their own position and the streamers'.

Bang! Bang!

Two shots from the double barrel rang out, and one person dropped.

With three names flashing up on the scoreboard in an instant, viewers who hadn't been able to see Magia's screen finally reacted with awe.

— It's started?

— Whoa, check out the speed on wiping that squad lololol

— Kyaa lololol

— This is what a signal flare does~

— Voice doesn't match at all lolol

— Thought it was hacks lololol

And with someone dying next to Gia, it meant she had a chance to loot.

[Whoa, level 3 bag. Sweet.]

— Lmaoooooooooooo

— Boss lady's employee isn't coming to help, just looting

— Bet she wants to smack her lololol

Gia's habit of muttering quietly while gaming was broadcast loud and clear, adding to the laughs.

One side begging for their life, the other casually looting—the contrast was absurd.

"Employee? You looting right now? We're about to die here!"

[It's fine, boss can handle it. Show them that spear you've trained with.]

[Employeeeeeee! Ugh! Save me!]

[Oh, shield battery too. Sweet.]

[Kyaaah.]

— This side's pubg, that side's survival game, over there's a healing stream…

— Rain's louder than last time she played pubs lololol

— Even the hostage-taker's getting fed up lololol

— Momo, turn down Rain's volume…

It looked like total chaos with nothing going right, but Magia was steadily sniping the snipers and racking up kills.

With the two streamers pulling aggro, she could go wild even more.

It was a kind of agreement between Dohee and Magia.

You be the bait, boss. I'll do the hunting.

But the herbivore boss had teeth too, so she could bite back and kill a predator if she wanted.

Like Pavlov's dogs, the ingrained memory made Dohee glance at the kill feed amid the chaos of fighting off enemies, feeling a wave of relief.

Just hold out.

Then Gia would come save her.

What was the point of all that training in Magia's brutal area denial if not for times like this?

Plus, indoor fights—especially in the rope-lined spots dubbed "rope houses"—were one of her specialties.

The factory was a multi-level building with tons of ropes, so as long as she didn't screw up, she could hold out for ages.

In a way, this was all thanks to Magia.

Open fields meant getting turned into Swiss cheese by stream sniper bullets drawn by the double barrel noise, so crawling into variable-rich indoors was the only way for a long holdout.

— Hanging in there real good today

— Momo's battle call skills leveled up a ton?

But even so, more eyes were on Gia than the enduring Dohee—probably because of the kill logs popping up every minute or less.

With hordes of stream snipers swarming Dohee, Squad Magia's squad-wiping speed stood out by comparison.

— Whoa, but employee's kill log won't stop

— Wiping a squad, healing, looting in under a minute? For real? ㄷㄷ

— How do you even do that with a double barrel? No clue

Just 10 minutes after splitting up, gunfire had noticeably died down.

- - Survivors 55 - -

Of the 35 dead, a whopping 17 were Gia's work.

Excluding stream sniper infighting and Momo's few kills, most of those 10 minutes' kills were hers.

By now, viewers were curious too.

What the hell was she doing to kill so fast with just a double barrel?

She seemed like a human tank bulldozing the ground, but all you heard were occasional bangs—no way to know more.

— Sigh

— Rain, wanna die soon and switch to signal flare screen?

— Can't change channels on this stream

— …Nah, can't?

Basically telling Rain to die, but that many wanted to see Signal Flare's skills.

Veteran Momo viewers knew by word of mouth, but most were here from the signal flare hype that heated up Battle Call Gal a few days ago.

Naturally, pissed-off Rain wasn't staying quiet.

[What, you puddles? Even if my skills suck, telling me to die? That hurts a lot. Right?]

Up to then, it was just everyday banter, so whatever.

:: Should I kill the puddle yapping in front of me first? ::

The follow-up donation pushed it too far, so Magia, busy hunting, popped into audio.

[Puddle folks. Keep telling Rain to die and I'll hit ban.]

Viewers who'd pegged her as Signal Flare jumped.

Oh right, she's Parallel's manager.

:: Employee pls have mercy ::

:: Just kidding just kidding just kidding just kidding just kidding ::

Did Magia let them off?

[The one who sent 11,111 gets a 1-hour ban. 11,111 is Rain-exclusive donation money.]

Dohee, who'd just finished a squad and hit a lull, heard it and marveled.

Not just throwing her and Rain into hell out of evil impulses after all.

It showed what position she was holding in this collab.

:: Felt super close to signal flare inside, but manager moving voice scared me a bit… ::

:: Wanna get rewarded (banned) too heuuung ::

— Mongmongi crapping everywhere again…

— Getting rewarded lolol

— It is a reward lolol

— Ruthless judge ㄷㄷ

— No wonder she's Momo's employee, sharp knife skills

Dohee, too busy fighting to catch it, felt grateful to Gia anyway.

Busy with her own game, yet prioritizing Rain.

Maybe she'd help her too? Dohee whined, testing Gia.

"Employee dear. Can't you come help soon? I'm already beat…"

But her streamer attitude was pro.

In-game Signal Flare was still evil.

[Shabondi Islands in 5 minutes.]

"You brat."

— Oh, 5 more minutes to hold lolol

— Trying to freebie it

— Alright, let's push~

* * *

My boss even turned persistent stream snipers into stream fodder, unless they ruined a good game run.

She treated lightly mischievous ones like quirky friends.

They'd come no matter how much you block or kick—better to smash them all than stress chasing every time. That was her bonus-hunting mindset.

I turned on the stream to WWE you punks.

Bring your best moves.

Standing tall like a pro wrestler, shoulders squared—that spirit was epic.

Of course, being such a sturdy sandbag meant constant sniping in ranked or pubs.

Guys who'd quit after some "cut it out" tears kept going because the boss held out to the end, sparking their spite.

That's why I suggested factory landing.

Snipers flock on days like this, but boss could hold there awhile.

Indoor hell was her specialty now, right?

And my expectations hit.

Unlike Rain getting mobbed by her bunny haters, boss was actually fighting and surviving.

Shields and health teetering on the edge, but no death.

Really aiming for the 20 minutes I promised at the start.

[Aaagh! Damn stream snipers, ease up?! And if you're coming, come all at once—did you line up? Line up like it's a fan meet?!]

[Save meeeee. Save meee.]

[You down again?!]

[Fucking puddle bastards keep downing me and launcher-ing!]

[Then at least get one kill…?!]

[I shot too. Damn. Why no sympathy, boss? Lone wolf suddenly going moist….]

— What's Rain even doing lololol

— More crawling time than alive time? lolol

— Stream getting humid

The 20-minute limit was because factory's unique setup meant that was her holdout max.

Die barely hanging on? "Was on my way out, too bad~" for one more joke.

Some longtime viewers from 3 years back seemed to predict it, boarding the nostalgia train with trot blaring.

:: Anonymous donor sent 10,000 clouds! ::

:: Damn, spine straightening up outta nowhere ::

:: Anonymous donor sent 1,000 clouds! ::

:: Busy irl, quit birthlive years ago, but today's stream making me wanna comeback lolol ::

:: Anonymous donor sent 1,000 clouds! ::

:: How could I forget you, signal flare...

Like them reminiscing.

I think back to that time 3 years ago too.

Because,

I love my screaming boss way too much.

[Employee? 5 minutes not up yet?]

[Ah, ah, it hurts. Hurts! Stop!!]

[Stop it you bastards!!!]

[How many mollys you throwing?!]

When she calls me a bastard,

When she snaps curses at me,

That sigh when we matchmake random,

The real screams and roars when forced teammate,

Then her thanks when I carry to win.

On stream,

At the office,

Dingdong,

Talkcode,

Her reactions to my moves, like scripted.

And.

When I finally arrive after she endures,

That lion's roar laced with thick fury.

"Boss, almost there. You alive?"

[You can see if I'm alive on the health bar! You mocking me right now?!]

"Busted."

[Wanna—get—fucked—?!]

Yeah, that sound.

— Workplace harassment

— Death threat ㄷㄷ

— Came to help and this lolol

:: Anonymous donor sent 1,000 clouds! ::

:: Hotani just came to help ㅠㅠ ::

[If you were gonna help, do it 20 minutes ago!! Is this my fault?!]

I giggled.

"Should I head back the way I came?"

[You mad?!]

"Don't seem that desperate."

[Yaaa—!]

— Hey, watch your mouth with the rescuer

— Fr lolol

— Say please help~

People in excessive happiness mutter nonsense like drunks.

And in that haze, like drunk, you don't even know what you said.

Just like me now.

"hehe, wish I could mess with boss like this every day."

[This greenlight, right?]

Missed it live cuz it flew by,

But keeps coming back, ate damage,

(ㅎㅎ_If_I_Could_Mess_With_Boss_Like_This_Every_Day.clip)

Here 'like this = collab'

Means she'll keep appearing on Momo streams?

(Hmm… con)

(Aha con)

Momo was blocking her from streaming

(Fan con)

Momo gotta debut employee responsibly
