Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: Side Account Shenanigans

Most FPS players can't stand not copying their exact settings even at a PC bang.

Especially aim sensitivity—it's the top priority you have to tweak. PC bangs have different gear, so if you nail nothing but headshots without adjusting, that's not just skill; that's straight-up cheating.

On top of that, Dohee always fiddled with one more setting: voice chat.

Battle Colosseum is a game where team communication is key, so voice chat is on by default for everyone.

But for mental protection, you mute the enemies. And since she was playing on a side account today, she turned her own mic off too.

In the process, she muted the team sounds as well...

Right after Jia wiped an enemy squad, a speaker icon blinked next to her ID.

Her voice chat was on.

"Hey. Your voice chat's still on."

"Oh crap. Forgot to turn off the mic."

"You've gotta be kidding me."

Eager to jump into the game and start fragging, Jia had skipped all the voice settings.

Plus, with her smaller hands, the mouse felt awkward, and she was hyper-focused on carrying the game, so she hadn't even noticed her voice was broadcasting.

At least she was using a side account, so that eased the worry a bit.

The trolls were keeping their promise with similar nicknames, after all.

[FlameFestivalBookingPriority1KimDukbae]

Dohee read the nickname out loud and couldn't help but snort.

"Your nicknames are insanely good."

"Have to make 'em good so I don't get caught."

"Caught? By who?"

Jia, who had been chatting away, suddenly clammed up. Dohee glanced over, and Jia was peeking at her while pretending to focus on the game.

But Dohee was a streamer with 1.6 million followers.

She could take the viewers' trolling in stride, but she was also a pro at firing back, teasing, or snarking.

"What're you gonna get caught for? If you don't spill, I'm not playing anymore."

"It's a trade secret. Can't say."

"Trade secret, my ass. How many side accounts do you even have?"

Jia scratched her temple, then steeled herself.

If she could game like this with Dohee as friends, it wouldn't matter if she couldn't use any of her side accounts anymore.

"Twelve."

The number shocked Dohee.

Packages cost 30,000 won each.

Even with discounts, twelve of them was well over 150,000 won.

"Twelve?! You bought that many packages?"

"Yeah. Gotta do it if you're gonna sell accounts."

"...You're something else. Truly a menace, Magia."

"Thank you."

"That's not a compliment..."

But who was it all for, if not Dohee?

If only she'd spent that money on fattening herself up instead.

[Guy Who Claimed He Got Wiped by a Kid]

Newbie Momofan that thatgallery was talking about who's been watching Momo's streams for 5 yrs

Check his deathcam—this has 99.9% chance it's Signal Flare himself

(Clipped vid.gif)

Watch Signal Flare snipe: always jumps to widen headshot angle first

Gotta claim high ground to headshot easier yk

But never jumps straight forward—always strafes like 40 degrees left/right?

Your vid does exactly that

You might think that's coincidence but

Got more proof

Rumor Signal Flare became Momo's manager

Couldn't verify so it fizzled out

But if true, everything in the vid lines up perfect

Boss = Momo

Gear/mats = Like this max Momo clip, every time Signal snipes, forced mat drop

(MaxMomo.ntube)

And barely heard the other person's voice, prob Momo yk

Momofan senses say 91.5% match

That's all I got

Gotta rewatch Momo, no Q&A thx

… ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ …

Gaming with the trolls after so long was a total rollercoaster.

Despair to joy on repeat in a chaotic frenzy of battles.

The main culprit who caused the mess went home with a blissful, enlightened grin, but victim Cheon Dohee's head was still throbbing the next morning.

Not that it was just from the dizzying games with her.

'Man, there's way too many ridiculously talented weirdos these days.'

After some wise guy dropped the analysis post, the fire started in Battle Colosseum Gallery and spread to Momo Gallery.

What? Side account, so safe?

Dohee cursed her careless self for brushing it off due to exhaustion yesterday.

[Gonna ask a ton when Momo streams later~]

[Thousand Won Punches loaded go go]

[Gallery was dead cuz no stream yesterday right? lol]

[Keeping this juicy bait to yourselves?]

One casual remark from Jia, and they united like that.

Of course, it was all circumstantial, so ignoring it would work fine. But constant pressure like this made even Dohee uncomfortable.

If it was aimed at her, fine—but Jia was a normie.

She'd shot down the debut pitch like a bullet when tossed as a joke, so her stance was clear. This was Momo's burden to bear.

'No need to tell Jia separately.'

…She'd thought that once.

The crisis hit faster than expected.

[Rain: Boss huge pot lid]

Rain, starting her stream four hours early, had dragged all the starved viewers straight to the related drama.

After yesterday's content ended, she'd cleanly logged off without chit-chat, planning a post-stream recap as part one for the evening main show...

But the mission that popped up right at the start piled up donations fast, breaking 500,000 won in just 30 minutes.

Word spread somehow—or maybe Rain's puddle fans went ham—and after an hour, the amount was a whopping.

:: Mission ::

:: Voice chat w/ Parallel staffer who nails Rain impression - 1,420,000 clouds ::

It had evolved into the kind of massive sponsorship Rain only hits after a full eight-hour stream.

Seeing the number, even Rain was floored, her messages bursting with hype.

- Private Message -

[Rain: Boss this is suuuper huge wtf]

[Rain: Jia call]

[Rain: Call fast hurry]

[Rain: Money keeps climbing]

And it was still rising in real time.

Rain tried her best to ignore it and focus on chatting, but kept glancing at the mission, so viewers got hyped and piled on more.

Funny thing: Streamer Momo fretted over the pressure on Magia, but the businesswoman in Dohee's head was screaming opportunity.

It was prime time to amplify curiosity—including new viewers—and funnel it to Rain.

Jia was an office worker anyway, and didn't want to show her face properly.

Just pop in occasionally as the Rain impression master, voice only, and it'd rocket Rain's growth.

Didn't even need to be every few weeks.

Tease 'em for two, three months, then once—that'd be fine.

It'd definitely explode.

'...Hmm.'

Problem was, give an inch once, and Jia's debut might go from option to must-have.

People always want more after one taste, and keep craving after two.

Rare characters you can't see often? Demand skyrockets exponentially. And pro-level impressions plus singing?

Viewers not going feral would be the weird part.

Dohee's own real-life friend, the VTuber Taro who'd duo'd as Momotaro and ridden the popularity wave? Her debut was exactly like that.

Unlike Taro though, Jia's voice reveal came with extra fuel: the Momo Gallery and Parallel Gallery buzzing with bait that Momo's troll sniper, Signal Flare, was her.

Trolls were a dime a dozen.

But ones acing impressions with an adorable real voice? Rare as hell.

With Momo Gallery already biting the bait, dropping that bomb on stream today? Ripple effects unpredictable.

So many variables ahead, Dohee couldn't help hesitating.

'Get swept in the vibe, and debut's basically inevitable.'

Sure, if Jia suddenly debuted, they could handle it.

Hire sharp replacements for her duties.

Help with smooth handover.

Train her up proper like the others and put her on the stage.

But the real issue? Jia herself had zero interest.

Cheon Dohee's dilemma deepened...

Bzzz.

Bzzzz.

Dohee picked up her vibrating phone from the desk.

"...You always know when you're causing a ruckus, huh."

Speak of the devil.

It was Magia.

"Yeah, Jia? What's up?"

[Boss, you sure no need to help Rain?]

Didn't expect the devil to say that.

...Keep showing your face and you'll have to debut, remember?

Said you had no plans to VTuber?

But Jia's seemingly contradictory actions made sense on closer look.

All because of the favor Dohee asked before 1st Gen debuted.

Handing 1st Gen to Jia, what'd she say?

Kids are green, so expect lots of requests.

Fulfill 'em all, but if you're unsure about inserting yourself, ask me.

So helping Rain by appearing on stream fell under 'helping Rain' in her book—hence calling Dohee mid-commute.

Asking if it was time for her to step in.

Dohee explained her worries,

"It'll never end after one time. You know that best as a fellow troll."

Jia replied without hesitation.

[Really? More importantly, sponsorship's at 200... no, 210 now. Throw away 2.1 mil won? For real?]
