They heard footsteps.
When they looked up, they saw Zarek walk in.
Michael immediately stood straight. He nearly stumbled as his boot slipped on the damp stone.
Eliora reached out to help him. "Careful," she said. "He's not going to bite you."
Michael swallowed, bowing repeatedly, just to be safe.
"Your Majesty."
His voice had lost all its earlier ease. Then he glanced at Eliora. "Goodnight, my Queen."
He hurried away without waiting for a response, almost tripping over a root in his haste.
Eliora waved at his retreating figure.
"Bye!"
She turned back to the waterfall, deliberately ignoring Zarek. She didn't need to look at him to know he didn't like that.
He stood there for a while, with his eyes closed. When he opened them again, he looked controlled.
"Are you calm now?" He asked.
She didn't answer.
"Eliora."
She rolled her eyes under her hat, but kept her gaze fixed on the rushing water.
Zarek didn't say anything again.
