Chapter 56 - Chapter 56: Gravity Wristband

Bulma knew that after the original World Martial Arts Tournament, Goku was supposed to go looking for his grandfather's keepsake—the Four-Star Ball.

That journey would've led to conflict with the Red Ribbon Army, triggering a long chain of events.

But this world was different. Son Gohan hadn't died, so there was no reason to search for the Dragon Balls.

Instead, Bulma decided to pour all her energy into Goku—

To make him even stronger than he had been in the original timeline.

That was why she had come to Kame House.

Before heading back, Bulma took everyone to the river's source to clear the waterway.

That area was the domain of the dinosaur-folk leader, Giran.

Using Goku's reputation as leverage, Bulma directly demanded that Giran keep his people from blocking the river again.

The whole task took less than an hour.

Once done, Bulma brought everyone back to Kame House.

Despite how spacious it looked, the house only had two bedrooms.

Originally, Chi-Chi and Launch shared one room,

While Goku, Krillin, and Master Roshi squeezed into the other.

But Bulma was an adult—there was no way she could keep sharing space with a bunch of guys.

Fortunately, Goku still had the Capsule House Bulma had given him back then.

So the two of them set it up not far from Master Roshi's home and spent the night there.

Looking out at the small island behind her, Bulma sighed in wonder.

"So this is where you've all been living, huh?

No wonder I couldn't find you with so many people living here!"

Goku nodded. "Yeah! This island has a bunch of people.

We deliver milk to them as part of our training.

It's big too—with rivers and room to swim.

Our training here is so intense, it feels like we live two days in one. We're always on the move.

Even rest time is scheduled! Resting counts as part of the training!"

Bulma smiled. "Alright, alright. I'll forgive you for not visiting me.

I actually invented something for you. Consider it a gift."

She handed him a bracelet.

"Huh?"

"What's this?"

Goku turned it over in his hands, trying to figure it out.

Suddenly, he remembered Son Gohan's device from the original timeline—The one that could instantly change into his Great Saiyaman outfit with the press of a button.

"Is it a transformation bracelet?" Goku asked, curious.

Bulma raised an eyebrow. "A transformation bracelet?"

"Yeah! Like, push a button and your clothes instantly change!"

Bulma shrugged. "Why the hell would I waste my time inventing something like that?"

As she spoke, she pulled out a cigarette and lit it with practiced ease.

"So it's not a transformation thing… then what is it?" Goku asked again.

Bulma took a drag before answering.

"I saw you training every day wearing that turtle shell on your back. It's ugly and slows you down.

So I did some work at home and made you a Gravity Wristband.

With it, you can control your own body weight.

You can adjust your weight anywhere from 0.1x to 10x your normal body mass—

In 0.1x increments."

Goku's eyes widened.

"Gravity Wristband?"

Bulma nodded.

"Yep. Way more convenient than lugging that turtle shell around.

Now, if you want to train, just dial in the gravity level and press the button—

It'll increase your weight accordingly.

Once you get used to one level, increase it again.

Ten times gravity is the limit for now.

I could make one that goes up to 100x, but the materials are hard to get—

And honestly, 100x gravity would crush you instantly.

You're still a kid, Goku. Let's take it slow, step by step."

Goku's face lit up as he clutched the wristband, the excitement plain in his eyes.

"Bulma, you're amazing!"

Originally, Goku had planned to ask her for help building a Gravity Room once he got stronger.

But she'd already made this—for him—without him even asking.

Something that didn't exist in the original story.

And frankly, it was more practical than a Gravity Room.

Gravity Rooms were stationary—you could only train inside them.

But this? The wristband let him train anywhere he wanted while still carrying extra weight.

'With this, how could I not get stronger?!' Goku thought joyfully.

He was so happy, he looked like a kid who just got the best birthday present ever.

Bulma beamed.

"As long as you like it."

"Like it? I love it!" Goku grinned.

"Bulma, can I try 2x gravity right now?

There's just one button… how does it work?"

Bulma explained,

"Press the button so it pops up, then slide the switch down to adjust the gravity level.

Once you've chosen your setting, press the button back down to lock it in.

Right now, it's on normal gravity—so go ahead and give it a shot."

Goku nodded eagerly.

"Okay!"

Following her instructions, he adjusted the gravity.

As soon as he nudged the switch downward, he felt the pressure increase.

Another nudge, and it doubled again.

When he reached 4x gravity, his limbs started feeling sluggish and heavy.

Bulma glanced at the setting and her eyes widened.

"Hey! Don't go overboard!

Jumping straight to 4x gravity will crush you if you're not careful!"

Goku nodded and quickly dialed it back.

He settled on 2x gravity—just enough to strain him without overwhelming him.

"This is great! Starting tomorrow, I won't need to carry the turtle shell anymore.

I can train with everyone using this!"

Bulma smirked with her hands on her hips.

"Just don't brag too much, or Chi-Chi and Krillin will be begging me for one too."

Goku paused. "Uh… then what do I do?"

Bulma shrugged. "What can you do? They're your friends.

I'll work overtime tonight and make one for each of them."

"Thanks, Bulma!"

She exhaled a slow puff of smoke, smiling faintly.

"It's only been a year since we saw each other… don't go getting all formal on me now."

"Heh-heh."

Bulma flicked away the cigarette and clapped her hands.

"Alright! You've got training tomorrow, right? Go shower and sleep."

With that, she gave Goku a little shove toward the bathroom.

"I'll help scrub your back—And maybe check if little Goku has grown at all in the past year..."

Master Roshi sat in his own house next door, staring at the brightly lit Capsule House.

A trace of regret flickered in his eyes.

"Such a beautiful young woman came to visit…

If only my house had been a little bigger..."

Chi-Chi nodded as well.

"I wish I had a house of my own."

Just then, the blue-haired Launch entered the living room.

"I cut up a bunch of fruit! Goku and Bulma went next door, right?"

Chi-Chi's eyes lit up.

"Yes! They're over there. I'll bring them a plate!"

Launch smiled.

"Such a thoughtful girl. Thank you!"

"It's nothing!"
