Chapter 27 - Chapter 27: Young Girl

In a place where the trees appeared as giants and even the weakest creature was an original monster, a 15-year-old girl ran. Her jet-black hair fell over her shoulders. She held her stomach in pain. She clenched her lips. Although her red dress hid it, she had a deep wound on her stomach. It seemed as if she was running away from something. Her green eyes were teary. She had a small face and thin eyebrows. She was quite beautiful. She looked short and weak.

She wasn't. She was just hurt.

She was running away. She was running away from the people and cultivators who had hurt her. Despite her strength, she was tired after all this time. It was dark, and she was hungry. She didn't have the strength to move. She could no longer absorb the original energy. Her veins might have been damaged or poisoned.

"A town sheriff fallen like this? You came all the way here to kill me? You really have no honor, " the young girl said angrily, turning her head back.

A man emerged from the darkness. He was wearing a special outfit. It was armor, but it looked like a suit. This meant that he was an officer. It gave him power. The powerful waves of origin energy emanating from his body indicated that he was, in fact, a powerful Origin Master.

In the darkness of night, only his black hair and eyes were visible. If we had shone a flashlight on his face, we would have realized that he looked to be in his thirties, but he was probably older. His appearance showed that he had reached the Origin Energy Realm in his thirties.

He was old. Old enough to have a talented twenty-year-old daughter who had also entered the Origin Energy Realm.

Yes, this man was the sheriff of Lu Jana Town. Mais had poisoned his daughter to death.

When the mission took too long, he became worried and sent some of his men to investigate. They found his daughter and his old friend. But his old friend was dead. Pieces of ice. His daughter was dead, lying on the ground. He thought it was because of her wounds. In a way, she was, but he hadn't realized that an Origin Master couldn't die so easily.

He didn't know that the blind boy he had pitied had poisoned his own daughter before the mission had even begun.

He searched for them anyway. Of course, the sheriff couldn't find them because Kasuur had moved too far away from the fighting area. However, he knew how to find them.

For that, he needed this girl dead. Luckily, she was already wounded and in bad shape. Otherwise, he would never have been her equal.

"I would give up my honor and morals for my daughter. After all, she was my only legacy. And my morals are worthless. I will have my revenge, even if it means killing a little girl and burdening my soul with it!"

There was no trembling in his cold expression. He had already made up his mind.

He held a spear in his hand. The young girl knew it was an origin weapon. Town sheriffs rarely acquired origin weapons, but this man had one. She felt unlucky.

The spear had a thick handle. It was long. About two meters long. There was a sharp blade at the end. The blade was wide, too. With just one swing, it could decapitate a horse.

It could also store origin energy. Clearly, it was a mid-level origin weapon. Maria thought she could never be so unlucky.

Blood flowed from the corner of her mouth, bringing a painful smile to her face. The sheriff took a deep breath. Then, he raised the spear high into the air. Next, he unleashed a bolt of lightning from the sky onto a young girl.

The broad, sharp spear was about to slice the young girl's delicate body in two!

TIINNN...!!!!!

At that moment, a white glow appeared on the spear's trajectory. A white sword collided with the sheriff's spear, accompanied by white beams. Sparks rained down on the young girl.

"Why are you taking it out on her just because your daughter is dead? It's not her fault."

The sheriff turned his head. His eyes fell on the fat boy who owned the sword. He had lush green hair and chubby cheeks. The white sword in his hand seemed to fit him well. He had been using it for a long time. The sheriff recognized him. When he saw his yellow eyes, he remembered that he was the boy who had spoken with his daughter.

The boy whose village had been destroyed…

The blind boy's friend…

One of those who killed his daughter!

But what was different about him now wasn't just his height and his damn scary weight; it was also the way he looked. There was no fear in his eyes.

Had that cowardly fatty disappeared? Or had he matured?

A frightening smile appeared on the sheriff's face.

"You seem to have gained some courage. But aren't your legs still shaking?"

He didn't think so. Not even that blind boy could give this fat man courage. He was a born coward. They had even dragged him to the mission.

So what changed?

"You killed my daughter."

Kasuur certainly didn't have such a scene in mind when he came out of the forest. As usual, he had to hunt and feed the damned Sage Beast, and ask for forgiveness for killing her. Otherwise, he would be bullied again.

That little cat was really cruel. Even if he were strong enough, he didn't intend to kill her. If he did, he would be bullied again.

This damn thing was an immortal creature. The best option was to wait for her to die of old age. It would be best if no one touched her.

The main reason he was trying so hard to reach the Sage Realm was to escape the cat's wrath, not Mais's revenge. Then the cat would be safe, and his life of bullying would be over.

And now, he had found a wounded beauty. Despite the jewels adorning her and the fact that a town sheriff had come to hunt her down, Kasuur knew that rescuing this girl would earn him the favor of Mais and Little White.

Maybe they could finally leave that damned hut.

Kasuur stretched his legs. He pulled his arm back and held his sword horizontally at his side. He looked intently and skillfully at his opponent.

He wanted to fight.

"Come here! I won't explain, so we can fight!"

Explaining how his daughter had died would not appease the sheriff.

Kasuur knew that talking about it wouldn't do any good. As soon as the sheriff saw him, he wouldn't leave. Kasuur didn't want to kill him, but he wasn't going to let him follow him around.

'Maybe my requests were pointless in the first place.'

Kasuur said to himself. This wasn't the first time he had done this, he reminded himself as he looked at the middle-aged man.

It wasn't the first time he had killed someone. He had once gotten angry and killed one of those barbarians with one blow.

It didn't matter.

It didn't matter that they had killed his daughter. She had been the first to attack. It was self-defense. Now, the sheriff didn't want to leave him and the girl. It was clear that if he ran away, she would die. Kasuur could see in her eyes that she was begging him not to leave her. She lay on the floor, breathing erratically, and looked at him with worried eyes.

Moreover, if the sheriff escaped, he would come back with reinforcements. It would have been fine if he were alone, but he couldn't do that to Mais and Little White.

Could he really not?

"Do I have to kill you?"

'You're already a murderer.'

"I'll chop you to pieces while you're alive!"

Yes, these words were spoken by the man who gritted his teeth until he died, and then the origin energy gushed out of his body. He is the current sheriff of Lu Jana Town.

He swung his spear toward Kasuur. Kasuur charged forward with his own gushing origin energy. There was hesitation in his heart, but in this battle, hesitation could not change the outcome.

In that fleeting moment, the girl on the ground, holding her bloodied stomach, saw the outcome of the contest thanks to her experience and cultivation.

Kasuur seemed to have less origin energy, and his weapon was inferior. Not to mention his hesitant eyes. He was going to lose.

At least, that's what the young girl thought.

For a moment, she questioned everything she knew.

The origin energy shifted in front of her eyes, and together with Kasuur's sword, it cut the spear—the origin weapon—in half.

It did not stop there. Kasuur took a step forward, and the sword sliced through the man's body. A pale blue light was left behind. Kasuur stood with a sharp stance, his veins visible in his arms. He had unconsciously held his breath, and now his legs trembled more than ever. Despite the large layer of fat, the veins in his arms were visible, and some of the openings in his body were bleeding.

"Eternity Slash!"

With Kasuur losing control, the energy gathered from the sword dispersed violently into the environment. Fortunately, the original energy dissipated and was no longer potent. The effect dissipated quickly, but Maria's astonishment did not fade. She dared not guess what she was seeing. Yet there it was. The lack of control over the energy made it clear that it was not an origin technique.

This was the Core Peak technique that Mais had taught Kasuur!
