Chapter 154 - Chapter 154: I Caught Jirachi!

"Yes. Is that okay, Jirachi?"

Lillie's big, watery eyes blinked rapidly as she stared at Jirachi with hope.

She'd actually wanted to wish for Damian to love only her for the rest of his life, but…

That felt way too selfish. She already felt guilty toward Selene.

Selene was the one who was actually Mr. Damian's girlfriend, and she, as Selene's close friend, was secretly pining after her boyfriend.

Lillie honestly felt like she was being really cheap…

But she really did like Mr. Damian. He was her first love.

"Mmm… let me think about it…"

A troubled look appeared on Jirachi's adorable face. It didn't really understand.

If it couldn't understand the wish, how was it supposed to grant it?

But faced with Lillie's hopeful gaze, Jirachi really couldn't bring itself to say no. It genuinely liked this human girl, and her flute playing had been beautiful.

"Mhm~!" Lillie's whole face lit up, joy sparkling in her eyes.

If this worked, she could be with Mr. Damian!

She did feel bad for Selene, but… as long as Selene never found out, it'd be fine, right? Selene was still out on her journey anyway.

Jirachi thought for a bit and decided to ask the all‑knowing Damian.

It linked its telepathy to Damian alone. That was the beauty of telepathy—super convenient.

『Damian, Damian, what does "fall in love" mean?』

『Fall in love?』

Hearing Jirachi's voice suddenly pop up in his head, Damian's expression went a little strange.

『Yeah. Like making you fall in love with Lillie.』 Jirachi gave a completely innocent example.

Pfft~

Damian instantly understood and shot a very complicated look toward the kitchen.

Alright, alright, so that's Lillie's little wish.

He couldn't help smiling wryly, a little amused, a little conflicted. He already liked Lillie, after all; otherwise, back in Alola he wouldn't have kept "coincidentally" running into her.

But a girl going to Jirachi to wish for his "love" was… not something he'd expected.

『Here's what you should tell her, Jirachi. You say…』

He thought for a moment, then "coached" Jirachi on what to say.

In the kitchen.

"Okay, Lillie, I'll help you grant your wish!"

Jirachi puffed out its tiny chest confidently, then closed its eyes as a faint glow rose around its body. It really looked the part.

Lillie pressed her lips together and stared at Jirachi, more nervous than she'd ever been, though a bit of hesitation did suddenly bubble up in her heart.

Soon, the glow around Jirachi began to fade.

"Did it work, Jirachi?"

"Mmm~ I just sensed something, actually. Damian already likes you, Lillie."

"Eh?!!!"

Lillie's eyes flew wide, the surge of joy so strong she failed to control her voice.

"R‑Really? Mr. Damian, he…"

She quickly caught herself, hands gripping her skirt as she bent down, staring at Jirachi in a panic.

"Yup. Damian already likes Lillie, so I wanted to ask if you still want this wish granted."

Jirachi tilted its head, pure and blankly cute, the kind of look that made you want to squeeze its cheeks.

"This…"

Ba‑dump. Ba‑dump~

Lillie's right hand came up to her chest as a charming pink flush spread across her pale, delicate face. She was so happy. So happy.

So Mr. Damian liked her too?

But… that made sense, didn't it? Mr. Damian had always taken care of her, always been so gentle with her. Of course he'd have feelings for her.

"Uuu~ Thank you, Jirachi. I'm so happy!"

Unable to hold back, Lillie hugged Jirachi tight. She suddenly felt Jirachi really was a lucky star.

Jirachi let out a muffled whine and flailed its stubby arms, trying to free itself from Lillie's grip.

No use. She was hugging way too hard.

And Jirachi didn't dare struggle seriously, or it might hurt her.

After a long moment, Lillie finally came back to herself, hurriedly letting go. Seeing Jirachi wobbling in the air, barely hovering straight, made her blush all over again.

"Sorry, Jirachi. I just got too excited."

She quickly fished a candy out of her pocket, unwrapped it, and handed it over.

"This is Nebby's favorite candy. Please forgive me for being rude just now."

"Mmm~ So sweet~" Jirachi was easy to appease.

"So, Lillie, do you still want to make a wish?" Jirachi got back on mission.

"Emmm…" The girl fell into deep thought.

She'd already been a little unsure before. Now she suddenly realized—

If she used Jirachi's power to get love, would that really be love?

And if she got Mr. Damian's heart that way, could she really accept it in good conscience?

It might sound a bit melodramatic, but Lillie genuinely found herself thinking that through.

"No need, Jirachi. Thank you. I've decided I want to earn my own love with my own hands."

She pursed her lips, then smiled softly once she'd made up her mind.

"Okay~" Jirachi replied around the candy, its left cheek puffed out, looking extra cute.

It still didn't really understand what this "love" stuff was, but if Lillie was letting go of that wish, it didn't have to stress about it anymore.

"Then… can I change my wish?"

Lillie batted her big eyes again, looking at Jirachi with fresh anticipation.

"Sure."

"Then, Jirachi, could you make me a little thinner? I feel like I've put on some weight recently."

Lillie poked at the soft bit of extra flesh on her belly, visibly distressed.

Damian had been taking her around to eat all sorts of delicious snacks the last few days, and she was convinced she'd gained a bit.

"?"

Jirachi stared at her, completely blank. Sis, you don't have any normal wishes?

Night.

Damian sat in his room, carefully polishing Kyogre and the others' Poké Balls.

The tiny Wish Maker was perched on the desk, hands at its sides, watching his movements up close.

"Jirachi, would you like to become my partner?"

Once Damian set Tyranitar's freshly cleaned ball aside, he picked up an empty Poké Ball and looked at Jirachi.

"Partner? We're already partners, though." Jirachi thought about it, then answered honestly.

"It's different. I mean partners who are always together and never part. I really like you, Jirachi, so I want you to stay by my side."

"Hehe~ I like Damian too."

A bright smile bloomed on Jirachi's small face, its clear childlike telepathy pure as could be.

"So you're asking to catch me, Damian?" Jirachi finally understood.

"That's right. That way, we can always be together—for a lifetime." Damian smiled gently.

"But Damian, I'll fall asleep, you know. For a long, long time." Jirachi's voice grew small and sad.

It knew that once the Millennium Comet passed, it would sink back into slumber. All the energy it had absorbed from the comet would be poured into the earth.

"That's why I want you to be a little selfish this time, Jirachi. Don't give your power to Forina anymore, okay?"

Damian picked Jirachi up and held it in front of him, looking straight into the eyes of the legendary Wish Maker.

"But if I do that…" Jirachi was torn. It had always been feeding that land.

"Forina is already rich and fertile. Even without you, it'll stay that way. So many Pokémon dwell there—they'll take care of that place. You don't need to worry."

To Damian, Jirachi was just too self‑sacrificing.

"Mmm…"

Jirachi still hesitated. Damian's logic made sense, but for countless ages it had been in the same loop:

Wake for seven days → absorb comet energy → sleep and return that energy to Forina's land → wake again.

That cycle was practically instinct at this point.

Seeing its struggle, Damian thought for a second, then picked up an oil‑based marker and held Jirachi's central wish tag steady.

"Eh?" Jirachi flinched.

Scratch, scratch, scratch…

Damian's hand moved quickly, writing a line of text across the wish tag.

"If Jirachi can't decide, then I'll make a wish." Damian watched as Jirachi's body began to glow, its face still adorably blank.

"My wish is that Jirachi won't have to fall into a long slumber anymore. That you can always be my partner, and live as freely as I do."

"Damian~!"

Jirachi's clear eyes shimmered, filling with tears as it stared at him.

At the same time, the central wish tag on its head flared with blinding light, lifting Jirachi slowly into the air.

The "line" across its belly slowly opened, revealing its true form: a dark green, unsettling eye.

Its "true eye."

Legend said that when Jirachi awoke from its thousand‑year sleep, it would grant the wish written on its wish tag—supposedly any wish.

But could a Jirachi that only stayed awake seven days out of every thousand really grant a wish like "never fall into a deep sleep again"?

Damian wasn't sure. But he believed it could.

Pokémon like this, as mysterious as gods, each had their own "settings"—but they weren't bound to them forever.

At the end of the day, Jirachi needed sleep because of energy deficiency. It had to rest to restore its strength.

In the movie, Jirachi had absorbed a massive amount of comet energy, then chosen to sleep so it could share that energy with Forina.

If you cut out the "sharing" part, then theoretically, a fully charged Jirachi should be able to stay awake.

But theory wasn't enough. Better to wish it directly.

The true eye twisted in a creepy way as Jirachi shut its regular eyes, focusing on Damian's written wish.

Time ticked by. The black letters on the wish tag slowly faded, and the glow around Jirachi's body dimmed.

The true eye closed. Jirachi drifted back down to sit on the desk and opened its regular eyes again.

"Did it work?" Damian asked, a little unsure.

"Damian~" Jirachi looked up at him, voice crisp and bright, eyes sparkling.

"Please take good care of me from now on~"

The tiny Wish Maker floated up and flung itself at his neck, nuzzling just like a cuddly kitten.

Yes—it had granted Damian's wish.

"Same here."

Damian was delighted. He'd successfully caught the legendary Mythical Pokémon Jirachi.

This adorable little one would stay with him for as long as he lived, never again sinking into that endless slumber.

Only when Damian died in the future would the wish end, and Jirachi would return to Forina—the land that meant so much to it.

"That's really great."

He gently rubbed Jirachi's little head, in a very good mood.

Now that Jirachi's situation was resolved, it was almost time for the final showdown with Hoenn League.

....

Mini Theater.

Jirachi: Girl, tell me your wish. I can grant them all for you, one by one.

Girl: Jirachi, Jirachi! I want my boobs to go up two cup sizes, so I can give Damian breast sex! He'll be so happy, and those damn bitches won't be able to compete with me!

Jirachi: ?

Girl: I also want better stamina, so I don't pass out right away and ruin Damian's fun…

Jirachi: ??

Girl: And last, can you make me super fertile? I wanna give Damian ten babies! Preferably twins and triplets so I don't spend the next ten years living in the delivery room.

A certain Jirachi: ??? (spiral eyes)
