Elara Vance returned to Dorm 404 expecting to study Quantum Mechanics. Instead, she found herself studying Fluid Dynamics.
Specifically, the dynamics of the three inches of water currently covering her floor.
"No," Elara whispered, dropping her backpack. Splash.
Her roommate, Jessica (a girl who majored in Sociology and minored in panic attacks), was standing on her bed, holding a cat.
"The pipe!" Jessica shrieked. "It just... exploded! One minute I was watching TikTok, and the next minute we were living in Atlantis!"
Elara waded into the room. The water was cold. It smelled of rust and bad luck. Floating past her was her Physics textbook, slowly dissolving into pulp.
"This isn't normal," Elara muttered, picking up the sodden book.
She looked at the pipe under the sink. It hadn't just sprung a leak. It looked like it had been twisted by a giant, invisible hand until it snapped.
