The chandelier was the size of a small house. It hung precariously over the gathered elite of Jincheng City, glistening with enough crystals to blind a satellite.
Li Wusheng stood at the center of the room, holding a glass of champagne. He wore a tuxedo that was blacker than a black hole, tailored to emphasize his broad, CEO shoulders.
Beside him stood Elara Vance.
She was wearing the Phoenix Fire Gown (from Episode 4). It was the only dress she owned that fit the dress code: Aggressive Opulence.
"Stand up straight," Li whispered, leaning down to her ear. His voice was a low rumble that vibrated through her chest. "Everyone is watching. They are waiting for the Dragon Lord's wife to embarrass herself."
[...] Elara straightened her spine. Her hand gripped her clutch purse tight enough to crack the plastic.
I am not embarrassed, Elara thought furiously. I am... bored.
