I intercept my sister just outside the pack house entrance, my decision already made. She halts mid-stride and pivots to face us both, her expression expectant yet wary. The moment that devil emoji hit my phone, I knew I had to be part of whatever was coming next.
"I would like to accompany you as well, if that would be acceptable." Nicholson's small hand shoots up into the air with innocent determination. "Hello, Liana. I have missed your presence greatly."
"Hello there, sweet one. Perhaps you should venture inside now. This particular journey is not suitable for you. The danger level will be quite significant."
Nicholson's tiny finger extends toward my face with startling directness. "More perilous than my father?"
"Dangerous enough to require his specific skill set," Liana responds with grudging acknowledgment.
"Very well, but only because Cali returns home tomorrow. I shall inform Mommy of your departure."
