Warner's POV
This is the first time I've ever felt that I was a person to Liana. She hugs me. Genuinely hugs me. All I can manage is to stroke her back while she releases tears that have probably been held back for years. This might be the first time she has allowed herself to cry in front of another soul.
When she finally steps back, her movements are swift as she reaches for the tissues. She rises and walks toward the jet's bathroom to compose herself. Since Arlene entered my life, remorse has become my constant companion. Perhaps Jamiya was right when she suggested that Arlene was making me weak.
Making all of us weak. I never realized I possessed the capacity for forgiveness until she came into my world. I grab a couple of concealed weapons and settle into my seat. When Liana returns, her posture is rigid with pride. Her eyes show no trace of redness, and her makeup appears freshly applied.
