"What are you?"
Travis looks at the sleepy boy, blinking slowly at him, eyes vulnerable and so like Day, the young Day who trusted him and gave himself to him so easily.
The Day he grew up knowing, loving, and giving himself to. Travis' heart is hammering in his chest, afraid, so afraid, as he opens his lips.
"a wolf."
He knows there is no going back. Day is asking for something, and he is weak for him. he can never lie to him, not even to protect him. But he never wants to lie to him either way.
"A… a wolf?" his voice is soft, small, like he is unsure of what he heard. He is processing it; it will stick in a minute.
"Yes. A wolf hybrid. I can turn to a wolf, I can be human too, like I am now," Travis explains in his gentle voice, patiently, as he cards his fingers through Day's hair.
They are both lying in bed, facing each other. At some point during the nap, they got so much closer that he is cuddling Day, one hand under his head, the other in his hair.
