Alice's POV
My first day back at work after three months of maternity leave felt like walking into a completely different world. I stood outside Hale Enterprises just staring at the building, trying to remember who I was before I became a mother to twins.
"You've got this," I whispered to myself before walking through the revolving doors into the lobby where I'd spent so many hours building my career.
"Mrs Hale welcome back," the receptionist said smiling at me like nothing had changed, but everything had changed because my body was different, and my priorities were different, and I wasn't sure I could be the same CEO I was before.
The elevator ride to the top floor felt longer than usual, and when the doors opened, I saw that my office had been redecorated while I was gone. Someone had added plants, and new furniture, and it felt like they'd been trying to erase me.
