Alice's POV
Doctors rushed into the room as the machines screamed their warnings, pushing me aside as they surrounded Bryan's bed. I watched them work, watched them shock his chest with paddles, watched the line on the monitor stay flat.
"Come on," one doctor shouted, shocking him again. "Come on Bryan, don't you dare die on us."
I stood there frozen, my hand on my stomach, feeling like I was watching my whole world end.
The line stayed flat for what felt like forever, then finally it blipped, once, twice, and settled into a steady rhythm again.
"We have a pulse," the doctor said, relief flooding his face. "Get him stabilized and prep for emergency surgery, there's something wrong with his heart."
They wheeled Bryan out of the room so fast I barely had time to process what was happening. Antonio appeared at my side, looking as shaken as I felt.
