Chapter 39 - Chapter 39: Do You Deserve It?

Hoshimiya Yuu was pondering the matter of his talents and completely dismissed Reiko Kuroiwa's suggestion.

Reiko Kuroiwa, due to her long-term privileged life, had a decent figure and skin, with a slender waist and long legs.

However, her face was quite ordinary.

Even with heavy makeup and a long fringe covering half her face, she wasn't as attractive as Asai Narumi, who deliberately opted for a gender-neutral look, let alone comparable to Ran.

More critically, under the scrutiny of his [True Sight], the fact that Reiko Kuroiwa was a promiscuous woman was fully exposed.

A promiscuous woman, the daughter of a drug trafficker, and with only average looks—Hoshimiya Yuu would be insane to have any intimate interaction with her.

A woman like Reiko Kuroiwa didn't deserve Hoshimiya Yuu to waste his energy and stamina on her.

Coming back to his senses, and seeing Reiko Kuroiwa still posing provocatively, Hoshimiya Yuu flatly refused. "Miss, please show some self-respect."

"Self-respect? What's self-respect? Handsome fella, why don't you teach me personally?"

Reiko Kuroiwa was completely unfazed and pressed closer to Hoshimiya Yuu, trying to take his earlobe into her mouth.

Hoshimiya Yuu frowned. Earlier, he had given her some face, considering this was Tsukikage Island and she was the village chief's daughter, but this woman had only grown more reckless.

Even the usually gentle Ran looked at Reiko Kuroiwa with dissatisfaction, tightening her grip on Hoshimiya Yuu's hand.

Hoshimiya Yuu took a step back, dodging Reiko Kuroiwa's advance.

"Get lost. Don't touch me."

Since she didn't appreciate courtesy, Hoshimiya Yuu stopped being polite. Pulling Ran away to create distance, he said with a look of disdain, "Trash like you, trying to take advantage of me? Take a look in the mirror and see if you even deserve it."

"Huh!?"

Reiko Kuroiwa's eyes widened. She looked at Hoshimiya Yuu in disbelief.

She had some confidence in her figure and looks; if not stunning, she was at least above average. Coupled with her status as the village chief's daughter.

Almost no man could resist her alluring hints.

Even the occasional handsome guy who didn't bite wouldn't be so openly disrespectful.

If Hoshimiya Yuu knew Reiko Kuroiwa's thoughts, he would definitely sneer at her lack of perspective.

In the world of Case Closed, beautiful women were everywhere. Reiko Kuroiwa, even with makeup, was at most mid-tier.

As the villagers' quiet discussions around them grew louder, Reiko Kuroiwa's shock gradually turned into fury.

How dare he humiliate me like this! Is it just because of that pretending-to-be-pure bitch?

Just two outsiders from Tokyo, wait until I get my hands on you…

"Good, good, good…"

Reiko Kuroiwa's gaze, full of malice, swept over Ran and Hoshimiya Yuu. She said coldly, "You just wait. I'll have you begging to climb into my bed."

In her small domain of Tsukikage Island, she feared no one.

After delivering her threat, Reiko Kuroiwa angrily returned to her fiancé's side.

She also called her father's secretary, a slightly overweight young man with glasses, to leave with them ahead of the crowd.

The current village chief, Tatsuji Kuroiwa, watched his daughter's retreating back helplessly. Half of his current poor reputation was due to Reiko Kuroiwa's arrogance.

But she was his daughter, after all. Tatsuji Kuroiwa glanced coolly at Hoshimiya Yuu, already considering how to teach these two outsiders a lesson for daring to insult his daughter.

Like father, like daughter.

Reiko Kuroiwa's personality was inseparable from Tatsuji Kuroiwa's influence.

But what Tatsuji Kuroiwa didn't know was that Reiko Kuroiwa's spoiled arrogance this time would send him to the grave.

While this drama was unfolding, Asai Narumi hadn't gone far.

She had planned to look for another opportunity later, but unexpectedly, Tatsuji Kuroiwa was suddenly isolated.

The village on Tsukikage Island wasn't large; the Community Hall was not far from Tatsuji Kuroiwa's home, but it was late at night, and Tatsuji Kuroiwa was the last one to leave.

Just a few minutes alone would be enough for her to carry out her revenge.

"I never expected I'd have to thank Mr. Hoshimiya in the end…"

Asai Narumi murmured to herself, an involuntary smile appearing at the corner of her mouth.

Watching Tatsuji Kuroiwa's obese figure slowly disappear into the darkness, she subtly changed her direction.

While Asai Narumi was rushing ahead to ambush Tatsuji Kuroiwa on his way home, Hoshimiya Yuu and Ran decided to return to the hotel.

Due to Reiko Kuroiwa's behavior, neither of them was in the mood to enjoy the moonlight. Since Ran was also tired, they simply returned to the hotel to rest.

As soon as they got back to the room, Ran tightly hugged Hoshimiya Yuu.

The girl's pretty face was pressed against Hoshimiya Yuu's chest, and she murmured in a muffled voice.

"Hoshimiya Nii-san…"

Hoshimiya Yuu wrapped one arm around Ran's slender waist and used the other to stroke her soft, black long hair. He asked gently, "What is it, Ran? Is it because of that woman just now?"

"No…"

Ran shook her head. "That woman was annoying, but Hoshimiya Nii-san already stood up for me."

Reiko Kuroiwa's actions did show a lack of respect for Ran, but Ran was not a person who held grudges.

"Then what is it?" After asking, Hoshimiya Yuu suddenly realized. "Is it about Dr. Asai?"

"Yes."

Ran frowned. "Narumi-nee is too pitiful…"

Although Asai Narumi deliberately avoided her, Ran's attention had been focused on her, and she had noticed some hints.

Especially since Kawashima and Nishimoto left and weren't seen again, she naturally suspected what had happened.

Besides Ran, others had also noticed Kawashima and Nishimoto were missing. The two had grown up on Tsukikage Island and had many acquaintances.

However, because the memorial service was late, everyone assumed they had gone home early.

If they were still missing tomorrow, the villagers would likely start looking.

Especially Hideo Kawashima.

He was the current favorite for the next village chief and had many people with vested interests behind him.

Once the two bodies were discovered, Tatsuji Kuroiwa's vigilance would increase even more.

This was one of the reasons why Asai Narumi was rushing to act.

"She is a bit pitiful." Hoshimiya Yuu hugged Ran tightly and comforted her. "But if she doesn't take revenge, she probably won't be able to live the rest of her days in peace."

"Hmm…"

Ran nodded, understanding.

Putting herself in her shoes, if someone killed her entire family and the law couldn't punish the criminal, she definitely wouldn't be able to let it go.

At least the current Ran couldn't just let it go.

If she continued to be influenced by the Justice Demon, Shinichi Kudou, it would be another story.

Risking one's life to save a criminal who intended harm…

That thought alone was enough to raise one's blood pressure.

Hoshimiya Yuu looked at the black-haired, long-legged beauty in his arms and took a deep breath.

Fortunately, I met Ran early enough. There's still time for everything.

If a Phoenix Empress were truly allowed to become a "Holy White Lotus," he would truly have a brain hemorrhage.

After cuddling with Ran for a while, and seeing her mood had somewhat calmed, Hoshimiya Yuu said, "Go wash up and sleep. You've had a long day."

"Okay."

Ran shyly left Hoshimiya Yuu's embrace and retrieved her change of clothes from her suitcase.
