Chapter 242 - [242] Shadows of the Guardian

Just before Snape gasped, Vizette suddenly had a sensation and received a message.

He sensed a kind of lazy, perfunctory flattery in it, as if to say—

"Yes, you're absolutely right!"

"Yes, no one will dare to utter your holy name!"

"No problem, I will do as you say and get things done!"

...

The last time he received similar information was when he had a chance encounter with Draco's father, Lucius Malfoy.

Professor Snape and Lucius reacted very similarly, almost immediately placing their right hand on their left arm.

Vizette quickly stood up and asked with concern, "Professor Snape, are you alright?"

Professor Snape remained silent, his eyes becoming complex, flashing with a cold and struggling light.

His lips were pressed tightly together, and his brows were furrowed, almost forming a knot.

Seeing Professor Snape's expression, Vizette felt uneasy.

This was the first time he had ever seen Professor Snape with such a rich array of expressions; something big must have happened.

"You…" Professor Snape finally spoke, his tone full of wariness, gloom, and coldness, "What is the current state of your Obscurus?"

"Obscurial?" Vizette was a little confused, but still answered truthfully, "I went to Sweden before, and the risks posed by the Obscurial have all been eliminated."

Professor Snape snorted. "Prove it to me..."

Vizette nodded and immediately cast "Primal Power: Oblivion (Beginner)", causing black energy to surround his body.

As the first professor to warn him that he needed to be sufficiently vigilant about the outside world, he trusted Professor Snape very much.

Professor Snape gripped his wand tightly, his eyes narrowed slightly, and he cautiously peered into the black mist.

The tip of his wand emitted a warm silver light, constantly swirling within the swirling black mist.

After a few rounds, he extinguished the silver light and put away his wand, his expression easing somewhat.

"Come with me!" he said, then quickly gathered his robes and disappeared through the office door.

Vizette suppressed the black aura around him and quickly jogged to catch up with Professor Snape.

...

During this time, Vizette also encountered Harry, who was returning from training, and Ron, who was with him, in the corridor.

Harry looked exhausted, and his robes were covered in mud stains, indicating that he had gone through some tough training.

Exhausted, he clearly didn't want to provoke Professor Snape.

Unfortunately, Professor Snape wasn't in the right state of mind, and he casually said to Harry, "Being disheveled in the corridor, Gryffindor loses two points."

After saying this, his steps became a little lighter.

"Snape!" Harry gritted his teeth as he watched Professor Snape's retreating figure.

"Cleaned up!" Vizette waved his wand and used a Scouring Charm to remove the mud stains from Harry's body.

Having done all this, he quickly quickened his pace to make sure he could keep up with Professor Snape's speed.

Harry watched their retreating figures. "Ron... do you think we should tell Professor McGonagall?"

"So we were penalized for no reason?" Ron shook his head. "Or is it that Vizette was bewitched by Snape and is following him around everywhere? Neither seems quite right..."

Harry nodded, murmuring with a hint of regret, "That's true, take care..."

"Vizette should be fine," Ron reassured him. "I heard from the Hufflepuffs that he's never had any points deducted by Snape."

-------------------------------------

Professor Snape arrived at an abandoned classroom. As Vizette also entered the abandoned classroom, a dilapidated wooden box in the corner suddenly jumped up and then fell to the ground with a thud.

"Boggart, do you know what it is?" Professor Snape asked.

Vizette nodded. "It's a very strange entity that changes into a corresponding form based on what we fear in our hearts."

Professor Snape did not respond, but pressed the tip of his wand to his temple and pulled out a silver thread.

Vizette could tell that Professor Snape was using mental magic to extract a small fragment of memory and alter it in some way.

A few breaths later, he tucked the silver thread back into his temple. "The course has been changed. You must master the Patronus Charm by today."

"Patronus Charm?" Vizette had only just learned about this magic from The Standard Book of Spells.

This magic is extremely mysterious. He searched his mind but could not find its specific origin. He only knew that wizards had used it in ancient times.

Casting this spell will summon a magical guardian;

To many wizards, this so-called guardian of magic is nothing more than a cloud of silver mist without any physical form.

Simply conjuring up intangible silver mist does not constitute a true casting of the Patronus Charm. Only when the magical guardian has a physical form can the spell be considered complete.

Wizards who can summon physical magical guardians are often more likely to be valued by the Wizengamot or the Ministry of Magic than other wizards.

This difference arises not only because the Patronus Charm is extremely complex, but also because casting it requires activating extremely positive emotions.

Normally, dark wizards find it difficult to cast the Patronus Charm. Even if they try to cast it, they will suffer "wand backfire" and be devoured by the maggots brought by the backfire.

"It's the Patronus Charm!" Professor Snape continued. "Even if you master it, I might check on you at any time. You need to make sure you can always perform the Patronus Charm."

"Hmm!" Vizette nodded.

He was naturally more than willing to learn another extremely difficult spell, and showed no resistance whatsoever.

Snape's expression softened a bit as he explained the details of the spell, "Patience and soul, these are things you need to pay attention to."

"If you can successfully cast this spell, you can consciously explore your inner self by chanting the incantation. Note! It is a conscious and active process!"

Professor Snape mentioned that one can tap into one's positive emotions and thus communicate with one's soul through the Patronus Charm's incantation "Expecto Patronum."

This should be his unique insight; at least, Vizette did not see a similar description in The Standard Book of Spells.

The learning method in "The Standard Book of Spells" is that the spellcaster should evoke a happy emotion and increase the success rate of casting the guardian spell by recalling happy things.

Happiness, a positive emotion, is something most people can experience; it's one of the easiest emotions to encounter.

Besides happiness, there are many other positive emotions;

Love for family, partners, or friends is an extremely powerful positive emotion;

In addition, there are feelings of gratitude, emotion, hope, pride, optimism, and compassion...

These are also positive emotions, and can all be used in Patronus Charms…
