Chapter 182 - [182] Harry's Harrowing Escape

The two returned to their workshop, where Vizette selected a brand new wand: oak, dragon heartstring, thirteen and three-quarters inches long, and incredibly resilient.

This wand was very comfortable to hold, and felt similar to his original wand, only slightly larger in size;

It resembled a three-edged military dagger, without excessive carving or embellishment, exuding a cold and austere aura.

...

In the afternoon, just as Vizette took out a handful of Floo Powder, intending to head to Diagon Alley, guests suddenly arrived at his house.

It was a middle-aged man and Harry Potter.

"Hi! Vizette!"

Harry was overjoyed. He could see that bright smiling face as soon as he opened the door, which gave him a sense of relief from his troubles.

"Good afternoon, Harry!" Vizette nodded in response, glancing at the middle-aged man beside him.

Strictly speaking, this was the first time Vizette had met Arthur Weasley.

Arthur Weasley was rather thin, wore glasses, and had a head of red hair that was balding.

"Vizette Lovegood, it's a pleasure to meet you!" He extended his hand to shake Vizette's. "Thanks to your reminder, I was able to find out about this…"

Arthur actually knew some things about Harry.

A few days ago, Harry broke the rules by casting a spell in front of Muggles.

Since it was Harry's first offense, the Ministry of Magic only had owls send out warning letters and took no further action.

Considering what Ron had mentioned, Arthur realized that something might have happened to Harry, so he took advantage of his vacation to go to Little Whinging and learn what had happened from Harry's Uncle Vernon.

On the night Harry broke the rules and cast a spell, Vernon was negotiating a big business deal when an unexpected owl ruined it, and he also learned that Harry couldn't cast spells off-campus.

Enraged, Vernon locked Harry in his bedroom, threatening to keep him locked up forever.

Vernon learned from the letter that Harry would be expelled from Hogwarts if he cast any more spells.

On the way to Harry's bedroom, Vernon kept pressing Arthur for answers, wanting to know if it was true.

As punishment, Vernon did more than just lock Harry up; he also restricted food supplies, sending only a small amount of food each day.

"The situation was…really dangerous!" Arthur sighed. "They kept Harry locked up for almost five days."

"When I finally saw Harry after taking out my Ministry of Magic credentials, I was still shocked. His face was pale and sallow, with hardly any color in it."

Harry nodded repeatedly, looking like he was still shaken.

As the director of the Misuse of Muggle Artefacts Office, Arthur had actually dealt with quite a few Muggles.

Although he still didn't quite understand the lifestyle of Muggles, he understood what Muggles like Vernon were afraid of or wary of.

Arthur continued, recalling, "I really wanted to be kinder to them... but seeing how hungry Harry was... I just couldn't control my tone..."

"Mr. Dursley really shouldn't have… punished Harry this way. Both sides should calm down… Anyway, I brought Harry here."

"Looking back now, maybe I should have talked to them more? Instead of leaving there with Harry... It was all too rushed..."

"They're actually quite happy to not see me for more than half a month in advance," Harry said nonchalantly. "Besides, I wasn't the one who cast the spell; I was framed."

"Yes, I still need to go to Amos's place later." Arthur nodded and showed the basket in his hand.

"Vizette, this is Yorkshire pudding made by Molly. She is very grateful to you for dissuading Ron and the others."

Upon arriving at Diagon Alley, Vizette passed by Flourish and Blotts and saw a clerk waving a wand and hanging up a huge banner.

The banner read: Gilderoy Lockhart, author of "Magical Me," will be visiting Flourish and Blotts for an autobiography signing event. Stay tuned!

Gilderoy Lockhart was an alumnus of Hogwarts, hailing from Ravenclaw.

Last school year, Vizette occasionally heard about this wizard from Penelope and Cho Chang.

Despite his young age, Gilderoy Lockhart possessed numerous honorary titles, and his striking blond hair and blue eyes made him a favorite among witches, especially middle-aged ones.

He had published many books, most of which were novels related to dark magic.

At Flourish and Blotts, Vizette focused more on academic books and had not yet read any of Gilderoy Lockhart's works.

Of the fan-made videos he had watched in his previous life, there wasn't much content related to Gilderoy Lockhart.

He could only vaguely recall fragments of the story: Gilderoy Lockhart, covered in dust, held a wand and cast a forgetting spell.

However, the Obliviate went wrong, causing the wand to backfire in an unusual way. Gilderoy Lockhart was instead injured by the Obliviate and was blasted into the ceiling.

...

Upon entering the Ollivander Wand Shop, Ollivander had clearly been waiting for some time.

Upon entering the workshop, he spoke first, asking, "Vizette, have you considered how to make a wand?"

After a moment's thought, Vizette replied, "If we're just going by what's in the notes, it's probably just different combinations of wand materials."

"The process is roughly as follows: cut the magic wood, fill it with the wand core, and then seal it with the magic wood."

"However, I saw that cauldron here this morning. So I think a potion is needed to help with it."

"Because I didn't see any seams on the wand, I think that potions might have been used to hold it together during the wand-making process."

Ollivander clapped his hands and said, "Excellent! Absolutely right, potions are an important part of the wand-making process."

He stood at the workbench and prepared to take out the crystal glass containing the liquid.

Two pieces of magical wood were soaking in one of the long cups.

Ollivander continued, "This is a wand that I'm halfway through making. I'll finish it, and you can watch as I do it."

"Okay." Vizette nodded, instinctively reaching for his notebook.

He paused, seemingly lost in thought, and tentatively asked, "Mr. Ollivander, may I... record this process?"

"I'm afraid that won't work…" Ollivander shook his head. "The method of making wands is protected by a magical contract, and it cannot be recorded in any form of writing."

"The legacy of each generation of Ollivander staff makers is passed down orally over many years... but for that magical contract, the owner of the Eye of Magic is an exception."

"Very well! I'm so glad to have this honor of witnessing the wand-making process." Vizette cast his Magic Eye and became completely absorbed.

"I am

also honored to have met a wizard with the Eye of Magic." Ollivander finished speaking, picked up a pair of pure gold tweezers, and took out the soaked magical wood…
