Chapter 31 - Chapter 31: Teaching According to Aptitude

Aburame Shibi felt that it was precisely because of Yamanaka Kagetsu's personality that he was assigned to this squad.

Uchiha En and Hyuga Asana were already very opinionated people, so this team didn't need a third person with their own ideas; they just needed someone who could obediently listen and cooperate.

Besides this, there was another reason, which Hokage-sama had mentioned to him: the three members of this squad were already familiar with each other and could be considered friends.

The secret techniques of the Yamanaka Clan were primarily for support in the Ino–Shika–Chō combination, and now, in this squad, he only needed to do the same thing.

Even so, Yamanaka Kagetsu's current strength was still insufficient.

Therefore, Aburame Shibi decided to do his best to help Yamanaka Kagetsu improve his strength during these three days.

As for the other two, Aburame Shibi selected one Ninjutsu for each of them.

For Hyuga Asana, he chose a C-rank Lightning Release Ninjutsu, Lightning Release: Lightning Ball. Most Lightning Release techniques come with a paralyzing effect. The Lightning Release: Lightning Ball technique could be quickly released to paralyze the enemy, creating conditions for Hyuga Asana to use Taijutsu to finish them off.

For Uchiha En, it was a general-purpose Ninjutsu, and also the most widely circulated general-purpose Ninjutsu in Konoha Village—Shadow Clone.

Shadow Clone is a B-rank Ninjutsu invented by Senju Tobirama. This technique uses Chakra to create solid clones. The clones evenly divide the caster's Chakra and possess consciousness independent of the original caster, along with a certain level of durability. Upon cancellation, the clones' memories and experiences return to the original body.

Uchiha En actually knew clone-type Ninjutsu, but his Water Clone technique only possessed 10% of the original body's strength and could not stray too far from the original body, essentially making it a weakened version of the Shadow Clone technique.

Uchiha En was very happy to be able to learn Shadow Clone now.

Over the next three days, Uchiha En and Hyuga Asana practiced their respective Ninjutsu, while Yamanaka Kagetsu was trained individually by Aburame Shibi.

Uchiha En's training of the Shadow Clone was relatively smooth, and he had basically mastered the Shadow Clone technique within three days.

This was because Uchiha En already had experience training with the Water Clone, and the principles of the Shadow Clone and Water Clone were actually quite similar; the only differences were the amount of Chakra that needed to be split and that one required a medium while the other did not.

While Uchiha En successfully learned the Shadow Clone, Hyuga Asana's training of the Lightning Release: Lightning Ball was not as smooth.

What the Hyuga Clan excelled at most was the Byakugan and the accompanying Taijutsu. Members of the Hyuga Clan received instruction at home that leaned toward these areas, and they barely touched Ninjutsu.

This wasn't to say that the Hyuga Clan lacked Ninjutsu talent, but rather that training related Taijutsu, combined with the Byakugan, was the most suitable direction for Hyuga Clan members to improve their strength.

Previously, Hyuga Asana didn't know any Ninjutsu; Uchiha En was the one who taught her the Great Fireball Technique.

Uchiha En remembered that it took Hyuga Asana about a week from first exposure to completely mastering the Great Fireball Technique. This indicated that Hyuga Asana's talent in Ninjutsu was rather average, or perhaps she couldn't learn Ninjutsu quickly because she didn't understand it well enough and had too little exposure.

Given Hyuga Asana's current progress, it would probably take another week to completely learn Lightning Release: Lightning Ball.

Unfortunately, time waits for no one; tomorrow was the day they were scheduled to depart for the campaign.

Over these three days, the Village's various resources had been allocated, and all the Genin who were about to go to the battlefield received Ninjutsu Tool Bags distributed by the Village.

The contents inside were pitifully sparse: only one exploding tag, three shuriken, one Kunai, and one soldier pill.

In comparison, the contents of the Ninjutsu Tool Bags distributed by the various clans to their members were much more abundant.

The Yamanaka Clan's Ninjutsu Tool Bag contained ten exploding tags, five shuriken, five Kunai, and a large pile of soldier pills—an unknown number of them.

The Hyuga Clan's Ninjutsu Tool Bag contained mostly exploding tags, a thick stack of at least 40 or 50. Other items were much fewer: five shuriken and five Kunai each, and only three soldier pills.

The Uchiha Clan's Ninjutsu Tool Bag was mainly focused on shuriken; one bag was entirely filled with shuriken, totaling 100, along with ten exploding tags, five Kunai, and ten soldier pills.

The tools distributed by these three clans were generally consistent with their respective clan circumstances. For example, the Yamanaka Clan's Mind Secret Techniques required continuous consumption of Chakra during use, so they prepared more soldier pills.

The Hyuga Clan's fighting style centered on close-range Taijutsu, minimizing the need for items like Kunai and shuriken, so they provided exploding tags, which inflict maximum damage on an enemy at close range.

The Uchiha Clan, on the other hand, had members who were very skilled at Ninjutsu Throwing, which was the most basic skill of the Uchiha Clan, so they naturally provided more shuriken.

However, these items were actually nothing to Uchiha En, because he had previously spent over a million to purchase war supplies, making the tools distributed by the Village and the clan seem far too few compared to his own reserves.

"That's enough training for today! Be at the Hokage Building by 8 AM tomorrow morning. There will be a Mobilization Rally, and Hokage-sama will also attend, so don't be late." After saying this, Aburame Shibi transformed into insects and vanished.

Seeing Aburame Shibi leave, Uchiha En turned to Yamanaka Kagetsu and asked, "Kagetsu, what did you learn from Teacher Shibi these past three days?"

"Teacher Shibi mainly taught me some ways to use the Three Basic Jutsu."

"He only taught you how to use the Three Basic Jutsu? Didn't he teach you anything else?" Hyuga Asana asked, stunned.

"No. I originally wanted to learn the Body Flicker Technique, but Teacher Shibi said my foundation was too poor, and I wouldn't be able to learn Body Flicker Technique in three days; it would be a complete waste of time.

"Then Teacher Shibi told me that once we're on the battlefield, I don't need to worry about fighting; my main role is to support you two. Therefore, I only need to master survival skills and ensure I don't become a burden."

"And the Three Basic Jutsu—these three most fundamental disruptive Ninjutsu—are precisely the strongest techniques for survival. So, Teacher Shibi gave me special training these three days to make me more proficient in using the Three Basic Jutsu."

After hearing Yamanaka Kagetsu's words, Uchiha En and Hyuga Asana exchanged a glance. Both felt that Aburame Shibi's judgment was quite accurate; neither of them had planned for Yamanaka Kagetsu to participate in combat.

Aburame Shibi's main role was to provide a Mental Space where they could communicate with each other. At the same time, Yamanaka Kagetsu knew Earth Release: Earth Wall, which he could use at crucial moments to block some attacks for them.

Of course, in most cases, Yamanaka Kagetsu's Earth Wall would primarily be used to protect himself.

And now Aburame Shibi had helped Yamanaka Kagetsu strengthen the Three Basic Jutsu, enhancing Yamanaka Kagetsu's battlefield adaptability and survival capability, which was already enough.
