"The Book of Wisdom," Eliana read aloud, then with a huff. "Well, that's ambitious!" She pulled the book out of its plastic safe and ran a hand across the cover, then slowly cracked the cover. "This is my favorite part," she said blandly to Xaiden, maintaining a monotone throughout as she continued. "Don't you love that feeling when you crack open a book you've never read before?"
"Umm.. sure." Xaiden responded, unsure of what to make of this newfound dynamic between them. It was better than being at each other's throats constantly, but she was still so difficult to read. More than that, right about now, he was regretting not jumping into that bunk before she did. Their 'finder's keepers' rule was coming back to bite him big time, but at the same time, who knows when he would have found it without her. He hardly stopped moving from place to place, whereas she was always looking for a quiet place to curl up and stay for a while.
"Don't worry, guys, I won't hog it," Eliana seemed to have read his mind, she continued. "Let's suspend "Finders Keepers for this adventure, agreed?" All hands shot in the air around the same time, passing the exception unanimously. "Want me to read aloud so we can all experience it at the same time?" she asked afterwards.
Ewen nodded emphatically. He rarely read, and if he did, it was audiobooks. He followed Xaiden's web novel only because it had a voice over that read it to him, and you could bet that he wouldn't react or comment about anything he read whether in person or online. Unless it was related to games, in that case he'd spend all day on forums and walkthroughs and wiki pages.
Eliana cleared her throat and began,
The Book of Wisdom, by Jasper Locke.
There's also an inscription here," she paused for a moment trying to make out the handwriting. "I think it says,
To whom it may concern. If you've found this book, you've been given the opportunity to make a difference and become a truth seeker, perhaps even a truth teller one day. You've been lied to by every history book you've ever held. Read on if you're ready to learn the truth of who we are, who we've been, and what we could become. Still more important than facts contained in this book, find the wisdom hidden within to overcome the mistakes of our ancestors.
"This guy is pretty intense," she commented, then continued.
Chapter One
In the beginning, there were four planets that circled the sun in perfect harmony. A delicate balance held each one suspended in space with equal distances between them. Along with advanced technology, this created ideal temps across every surface on every planet allowing the planets and the people to flourish.
Zenith
One planet, Zenith, excelled more than the rest in their scientific research and advanced technology. Their genius resulted in historic breakthroughs into interplanetary travel and communications, breaking through the barrier of space and time and connecting the planets. After establishing an amicable relationship with their neighbors, scientists from Zenith collaborated with scientists from the other planets to create the first inter-planetary portal, revolutionizing trade and enhancing the social connections between the four neighboring masses.
