The torch and lantern flames flickered along the sides of the room, their warm glow doing little to ease the rising tension in the air.
The people gathered around exchanged worried glances.
"What is it, Commander?" a woman in a black robe asked.
The Commander turned his gaze toward her and spoke in a low voice. "We have been spotted by the Royal Saints."
Hearing that, unease spread among the people. Yet everyone knew what was about to happen.
"We all knew this day would eventually come — the day we'd have to leave this place. Didn't we?"
Most of the people gave a small nod, including Daniel, who simply went along with the crowd.
"We all know they wanted to get rid of us. But we're always going to be two steps ahead," the Commander said before turning his gaze toward the woman beside him. "Bring him."
