Chapter 148: Searching for the Klein Clue
The answer was exactly as Silas had expected: Peter was not the type of person to give up easily.
"Let's go," Silas said, leading Peter away from the campus.
On the Road
"Peter, I advise you not to get too close to the Principal," Silas suggested.
"Why?" Peter was confused. Was the Principal actually the final big boss?!!
Silas didn't answer Peter's question immediately, instead asking, "Do you know the Principal's true identity?"
"Identity?" Peter thought for a moment, took out the business card from his pocket, and said, "Phil Coulson?"
"Mhm." Silas took the business card and looked at it. It listed Coulson's real name, phone number, and his unit: Principal of Midtown High. "Do you think a principal would have such agile fighting skills?" Silas handed the card back to Peter.
Peter put the business card away and said, "Could he be an Avenger?!" After all, Coulson knew Mr. Stark.
"Something like that." Silas then told Peter about S.H.I.E.L.D. Anyway, as time went on, Peter would naturally learn about S.H.I.E.L.D. It was better to tell him now than later.
"That is so cool~" Peter exclaimed excitedly. "Does Coulson act like an agent in the movies, sneaking into other countries to steal secret intelligence?"
"And then running into people chasing him, bang~ solving them with one shot, and getting away completely unscathed..." Peter described enthusiastically.
"Stop, Peter, I think you're straying too far," Silas rubbed his temples in frustration. How did Peter jump to that conclusion?
"Did I? But I haven't finished..." Peter silently shut his mouth under Silas's gaze.
"Alright, that's the basic information about S.H.I.E.L.D. Do you have anything else to ask?" Silas asked, exasperated.
Peter thought for a moment and slowly spoke, "Will Coulson really act like a movie agent..."
"Ask him that," Silas said, then quickened his pace. He didn't understand why Peter was asking him this.
"Silas, wait for me!" Peter quickly chased after him.
Nighttime
Peter, wearing his Spider suit, crouched on the rooftop of Stark Tower, looking down at the street below.
"Hey! Pajamas Boy, if you want to rest, go somewhere else," Tony flew over next to Peter and said.
"Uh... Mr. Stark, I'm sorry, I need your help," Peter requested earnestly. After thinking all afternoon, he felt it was best to ask Mr. Stark for help.
"Help?" Tony frowned and stopped next to Peter. "What kind of help do you need? Help with your homework?"
"No, no, no~" Peter quickly waved his hands. "It's not that, it's about a teacher at my school."
"A teacher?" Tony scrutinized Peter. "You're not trying to get me to help you cheat, are you?"
"No, Mr. Stark!" Peter quickly told Tony the basic information about Klein to avoid being misunderstood again.
"Turns into a bug~" Tony suddenly froze. Wasn't that the killer bug he had been unable to find recently? Although Tony had read reports in the newspaper about the bug, claiming it was a hero who helped Spider-Man clear up crime in Clinton, he couldn't find the bug's real information. He hadn't wanted to lose face by asking Peter, but Peter had come to him today.
"So you want me to help you find Klein?" Tony said.
"Mhm." Peter then added, "And the people who were threatening Teacher Klein."
"Hmm~" Tony felt mentally exhausted. He was still investigating the recent mysterious explosions. Explosions were inexplicably occurring in various places, and the most bizarre thing was that no shrapnel was ever left at the scenes.
"What's wrong, Mr. Stark? You look tired?" Even though Tony's face was covered, Peter still sensed Tony's fatigue.
"Nothing." Tony stood up. "Leave this to me. I'll let you know as soon as I have news." With that, Tony flew away. He didn't tell Peter that Klein was a murderer; he felt Peter might not be able to handle that truth.
"Thanks, Mr. Stark!" Peter shouted toward Tony's retreating back.
"I wondered where you ran off to. Turns out you went to find Stark." Silas suddenly appeared next to Peter.
"Silas?!" Peter said, slightly surprised. "How did you get here?"
"What? Can't I come find you if there's nothing wrong?" Silas said testily.
"No, it's not that," Peter said, embarrassed. "Then, why did you look for me?"
"I have a clue about Teacher Klein," Silas said, his playful expression replaced by a serious one.
Klein's Home
"What a mess this is," Peter said, looking at the chaotic room. Klein's house was a wreck: smashed furniture and glass were everywhere on the floor, and the walls had numerous cracks. The wooden table was pulverized, the living room television was split in half—there was no single spot that was intact.
"Did a major battle happen here?" Peter crouched down and picked up a piece of broken glass, stunned.
"It should have, but I don't think so," Silas first nodded, then shook his head.
"What does that mean?" Peter was confused.
Silas explained, "Initially, I suspected a fight had occurred, but after Black Shadow Corps checked, there are no footprints belonging to a second person here."
"There is only one pair of large feet, which must belong to Teacher Klein. Apart from his footprints, the only other ones are ours from coming here later."
Peter tried to turn on the light and said, "Does that mean Teacher Klein destroyed his own house? If so, what was his purpose?"
"I'm not sure yet." Silas hadn't figured this out either. The only thing he could think of was that Klein used these objects to vent the hatred in his heart.
"Have you checked the other rooms?" Peter crawled into a utility room. Oddly enough, the utility room was neat and tidy, with no signs of damage.
"I checked. Except for the utility room and the master bedroom, which are clean, all the other rooms were destroyed just like the living room," Silas answered.
"Why is that?" Peter meticulously checked every corner of the room.
Silas watched Peter searching the bedroom and walked over to a computer. "Alpha, unlock the computer for me," Silas said, turning on the machine.
"Understood, Master. Unlocking password... Password unlocked, time elapsed 0.01 seconds," Alpha announced.
Silas used the mouse to check the files inside. During the search, he found nearly fifty videos.
"Peter, come take a look," Silas called out.
Peter immediately did a backflip, landing next to Silas, and stared at the screen. "Did you find something?"
"There are fifty-five videos here," Silas said, clicking on one randomly. The video screen showed Klein. Judging by the background, it looked like it was filmed in the bedroom.
"Mhm..."
