Chapter 132: Visiting Tony's Lab
Tony, wearing the Mark VII, flew back to the lab. He raised his arms, and the micro-missiles on his forearms rose up, ready to fire at any moment.
"Time to withdraw," Little Black said, then submerged into the Shadow Realm, leaving Big Black behind.
Under Tony's watchful eye, Big Black silently took off his headphones and turned off the TV.
"So, you want me to invite you to stay for dinner?" Tony asked, seeing the half-eaten Burger King on the table.
"To be honest, that thing tastes pretty bad," Big Black said, pursing his lips and nodding.
"It seems black-furred apes just don't know how to appreciate fine dining," Tony said. The red targeting dots on his arm lit up, ready to take out Big Black.
Big Black suddenly raised his arm. "Wait!"
"What is it? Any last words?" Tony stopped his movement.
Big Black pulled out a pair of sunglasses from his chest, along with a cigarette and a lighter. Click! After lighting the cigarette.
"Hoo~" Big Black exhaled a puff of white smoke and said, "Shoot me."
"..." Pew! A laser shot from Tony's arm, striking Big Black in the chest.
Poom! Big Black instantly turned into black smoke.
"Alright, so my lab was completely emptied?" Tony said, looking helplessly at the deserted lab. Everything that wasn't bolted down was gone.
"Not entirely, sir," J.A.R.V.I.S. reported. A mechanical arm then scurried out from a corner. It had gone unnoticed and managed to escape the theft.
"Hmm, good. At least they left you," Tony said, sitting cross-legged on the operating console, opening his face mask to reveal his face, and propping his head up with his hand.
Under J.A.R.V.I.S.'s direction, the mechanical arm picked up a fresh, uneaten box of Burger King and offered it to Tony. Tony took it, opened the box, took a big bite, and said, "I told you it tastes good."
Tony had been outside subduing terrorists when he received J.A.R.V.I.S.'s report that two men in black suits had sneaked into the lab. At first, Tony asked J.A.R.V.I.S. what they were doing. At the time, Big Black was dancing, and Little Black was only inspecting Tony's suits. Tony wasn't too worried about rushing home and told J.A.R.V.I.S. not to alert them. He sped toward Freedom City only after finishing with the terrorists.
The Shadow Realm
Little Black was delighted by the dazzling array of equipment. Having these things would make things much easier. Originally, Little Black had to rely solely on bits of information from the internet to supplement his knowledge and create his equipment. Now that he had Tony's ready-made equipment, it would be much more convenient, and he could use them as blueprints for future creations.
Little Black picked up Tony's sensor device and immediately sat down at the table, starting to dismantle it to study its principles and see where the differences lay between his creation and Tony's.
At that moment, a ball of black smoke slowly gathered behind Little Black, taking the shape of a person. Finally, the black smoke dissipated, revealing Big Black.
"Mmm~" Big Black, who had somehow acquired a bag of chips, was crunching on them contentedly. Dying was nothing to him anymore; it was as common as drinking water for an ordinary person. Now, for Big Black, death had to be cool. He could die, but the posture had to be stylish.
26th Street
"One, two, three... a total of thirteen hostages," Peter said, crouching on the edge of a tall building.
Silas yawned beside him. "Aw~ Hurry up, Peter. Aunt May's dinner must be almost ready."
"But we have to be careful. What if they hurt a hostage?" Peter also really wanted to go home for Aunt May's dinner, but now was clearly not the time to be thinking about that.
Silas rolled his eyes helplessly. If Peter hadn't dragged him along, he wouldn't be here. He wouldn't easily help Peter unless Peter genuinely couldn't handle it. Everything, even small setbacks, would contribute to Peter's growth, rather than him maturing under someone else's protection.
"Do you have a plan?" Silas asked.
Peter observed the bank's layout. "We can go from above, along the pillars. Right now, four men are holding guns to the hostages, and the other four are stuffing money."
"I'll take out the four threatening the hostages, and you take out the four robbers stuffing the money. How does that sound?" Peter turned to Silas.
Silas nodded. Peter was finally showing some growth, understanding the need to strategize.
"Then let's do it. Time to move," Peter said. To be safe, he also called out the Spider Squad. The Spider Squad remained hidden in Peter's shadow, appearing whenever Peter needed them.
Inside the Bank
"Nobody move, ladies and gentlemen. Our demands are simple: we want the money, not your lives. Just cooperate, and I promise you'll all be safe," the man with the gun who was speaking was likely the leader of the robbers.
"Boss, what do we do? The place is surrounded by cops," a subordinate whispered close to the leader.
"It's fine," the leader said confidently. "We have the hostages. They won't rush in immediately. There are reporters outside, too." Because of the reporters, the police had to present their best side. Otherwise, if pushed too hard, they would forcibly storm the bank regardless of the hostages' safety.
"There's a small tunnel in the back. That's our route to paradise," the leader smirked. He had been planning this for ten whole years, and that tunnel was his way to escape completely unharmed.
"No, actually, if you take the front door, I guarantee that's the door to the police station," Peter and the Spider Squad descended from the ceiling.
The first thing Peter did was raise his leg and kick the weapons out of the hands of the four robbers, then shot webs to restrain them. On the other side, Silas, who was invisible, quietly approached the four robbers stuffing money and knocked them out with a single hand chop.
"Too easy," Silas thought, feeling bored. It was too simple. This kind of minor task could easily be left to the Shadowkhan.
"Look! It's Spider-Man!"
"Amazing! We're finally safe!"
"Thank you, Spider-Man!"
"Can I get a photo with you?"
Silas was about to cancel his invisibility, but hearing those words, he decided not to. He didn't care about the fame, anyway. Crucially, the Shadowkhan ninja impersonating him was currently in Mexico. If he suddenly showed up here, he would expose himself.
After taking a few photos, Peter shot a web and left, landing on the bank's rooftop.
"Hey, Silas, why didn't you come out just now?" Peter asked, sitting down next to Silas.
"It doesn't matter. Let's go home. I'm getting impatient for dinner," Silas said, rubbing his empty stomach.
Peter laughed. "Me too. Let's go."
Silas opened the Shadow Realm and brought Peter home.
Gang Radiation Lab
"Agh!" A roar of pain erupted from inside the glass laboratory.
Oris looked at Dr. Wounds in confusion, asking what was happening.
"It's normal, Aleksei! Don't be nervous!" Dr. Wounds shouted.
Boom! The lab suddenly exploded! Everyone immediately covered their heads and ducked.
Following a cloud of black smoke, a bulky silhouette appeared where the explosion occurred.
