Chapter 131: Radiation Experiment
Aleksei followed the gang members into a laboratory. During this time, the man in black revealed his name: Oris Bell, a high-ranking member of the gang.
"Oh~ is he our subject for this experiment? He's a brave man," said a person wearing a white coat.
Aleksei looked at Oris curiously. Oris introduced him. "This is Dr. Wounds."
Then, Oris introduced Aleksei to Dr. Wounds. "This is Aleksei Mikhailovich Sytsevich."
"Hello, Aleksei," Dr. Wounds said, smiling and extending his hand.
Aleksei shook his hand in return. "Hello, Doctor. Are we absolutely sure this experiment is safe?"
"Of course. We are a highly professional team. Even if the experiment fails, it won't have much impact on the human body. At most, you'll lose the ability to have children," Dr. Wounds said, deceiving Aleksei. If the experiment were truly as safe as he claimed, why would he deliberately seek out Aleksei? Wouldn't he try it himself?
The simple-minded Aleksei clearly didn't consider this. His mind was focused entirely on the one million dollars.
"Alright, Aleksei, you can go lie down over there." Oris patted Aleksei's shoulder, indicating for him to lie down on the operating table.
Aleksei nodded and obediently lay on the experiment table.
"Where did you find this simpleton? He's truly stupid," Dr. Wounds scoffed, glancing at Aleksei.
"If he wasn't stupid, he wouldn't be easy to fool," Oris chuckled.
"Speaking of which," Oris stared into Dr. Wounds' eyes and asked, "How confident are you?"
"The success rate is about ten percent," Dr. Wounds replied.
The lab assistants were busy strapping Aleksei's limbs down, preparing for the experiment.
"Hey! Dr. Wounds, what kind of experiment are we doing?!" Aleksei suddenly remembered to ask.
"A chemical radiation experiment," Dr. Wounds answered without turning around.
"Radiation experiment?" Aleksei frowned. He didn't quite understand, but the name sounded fairly safe.
Oris took out a cigarette pack and a lighter, about to smoke, but Dr. Wounds waved him off. "Don't smoke in here."
"Mmm." Oris put away the cigarette and lighter. "How long will the experiment take?"
"Don't worry, if everything goes smoothly, it will be quick," Dr. Wounds said. Then, an assistant beside him called out, "Doctor! We're ready."
"Mmm," Dr. Wounds replied to his assistant, then told Oris, "I should go."
"Mmm." Oris pulled up a stool and sat down.
Dr. Wounds suddenly stopped halfway and turned to point at the hazmat suits in a box. "Right, you need to put these on."
"Put them on," Oris instructed. His subordinate immediately brought him a hazmat suit and handed it to him.
Dr. Wounds walked over to Aleksei. "How are you feeling?"
"So far, so good. Just a little nervous," Aleksei said, taking a deep breath.
"It's fine. Experiments are like this," Dr. Wounds waved his hand, and the assistants wheeled Aleksei into the glass laboratory. Even though Oris and his group were outside the glass, they still had to wear the clumsy hazmat suits for safety.
Beep!
An assistant pressed a button, the glass laboratory door closed, leaving Aleksei alone inside. Aleksei tried to struggle out of the restraints but found he couldn't. Looking around, he saw many pieces of experimental equipment.
"Dr. Wounds! Are you sure this is safe!" Aleksei started to panic. Those instruments looked quite unfriendly.
Outside the Glass Laboratory
"Don't worry, Aleksei. If the experiment were dangerous, we wouldn't have called you," Dr. Wounds said, smiling and giving Aleksei an OK sign.
"What are the subject's current vital signs?" Dr. Wounds asked, dropping the fake smile.
The assistant checked the screen data. "The subject is normal, aside from an accelerated heart rate."
"Accelerated heart rate, is it? He's very nervous, then," Dr. Wounds chuckled. "Prepare to start the experiment in one minute."
One minute quickly passed. At a signal from Dr. Wounds, the assistant pressed the switch to start the experiment.
Boom!
Big Black once again dissolved into black smoke and vanished, leaving only the armor components behind.
"Experiment number thirty-one failed," Little Black said. A Shadowkhan ninja next to him recorded the failure with a pen and paper.
Little Black picked up the sensor, puzzled. "What exactly is going wrong?"
"Maybe we could go check out Stark's Iron Man suits for reference," the Shadowkhan ninja recording the experiment suggested.
"Stark?" Little Black stroked his chin, thinking. He snapped his fingers, and Big Black instantly resurrected in place with a look of despair, his eyes hollow, as if saying, Come on! See if I'm going to die again.
"Big Black, we have a mission we need to do. Do you want to go?" Little Black asked.
Hearing this, Big Black immediately nodded frantically. "I want to go! I'll go!"
Freedom City – Stark Lab
Hey yeah~ Hey yeah~ My fair lady~
Big Black, wearing headphones, listened to "Come and Get Your Love," dancing as he explored Stark's laboratory.
Little Black stood nearby, looking at the Iron Man suits displayed in the cabinet, eventually focusing his gaze on the Mark VII. Even though the Mark VII was locked in the cabinet, Little Black pulled it out through the Shadow Realm and tossed it into the Shadow Realm. Little Black then continued to look for anything else he might need in the lab.
Hey yeah~ Hey yeah~
Big Black danced and slid over to an experiment table, where he saw a Burger King burger set down. Without thinking, he picked up the Burger King and took a bite. "Mmm~" Big Black found the burger tasted terrible. He immediately spat it out and placed it back on the table.
Big Black then sat in Tony's chair, glanced at the items on the desk, and casually touched something.
"It's 6:00 PM in New York. A bank robbery is currently happening on 26th Street. The perpetrator is holding hostages. Oh! Look! It's Spider-Man!" A sudden voice startled Big Black and Little Black, who was busy stealing. Little Black turned around, saw it was the TV, and angrily walked over to Big Black, lightly flicking his head with two fingers.
"Ow!" Big Black rubbed his painful head.
"Don't randomly touch other people's things," Little Black scolded. Big Black twitched his mouth, and glanced at the small Shadowkhan ninjas carrying things away. He couldn't help but inwardly twitch. I only touched things, but you're just outright stealing.
"Just wait, Little Black. I'll get the upper hand on you someday," Big Black secretly vowed in his heart. He couldn't let Little Black run wild like this anymore.
Little Black looked at Big Black suspiciously. He felt like Big Black was thinking something inappropriate just now. Big Black, feeling Little Black's gaze, pulled down his mask, showed a wide, white-toothed grin, and demonstrated his innocence.
"Hey~ Did you black-clad guys come in here to film a movie without the owner's permission?"
